Dimitar Popov has studied economics in Plovdiv. Since 7 years, he works for Green Balkans, one of the largest nature conservation organisations on the Balkans with over 4.000 members. Within the scope of the project “NatuRegio – trai- nees for nature”, which is co-financed by EuroNatur, this year he has spent several weeks in two different German nature conservation institutions: in spring, in the stork village of Rühstädt in the biosphere reservation embedded in the fluvial landscape of the river Elbe in Brandenburg, and in summer, five weeks in the main office of EuroNatur in Radolfzell. There, they talked about his work, the situation of nature conservation in Bulgaria and his experience in Germany. Unidentified biological materials were also investigated in four entomological collections in Sofia in Bulgaria: Forest Research Institute; Institute of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Research; National Museum of Natural History; University of Forestry. As a result, 76 taxa of longhorn beetles from four subfamilies were identified: Prioninae (one species); Lepturinae (12 species and 12 subspecies), Cerambycinae (nine species and 10 subspecies) and Lamiinae (20 species and 12 subspecies). In Bulgarian part of Strandzha 61 taxa (36 species and 25 subspecies) were found, and in Turkish part 32 taxa (17 species and 15 subspecies).
