When Sweden invaded Poland, in June 1655, it went to war with an army which reflected not only the state’s military and cultural strengths but also its fiscal weaknesses. During 1655 the Swedes won great successes in Poland and captured most of the country. But a series of military decisions transformed the Swedish army from a concentrated, combined-arms force into a mobile but widely dispersed force.

    ONLINE EXCHANGE BRESCIA & BRUSY Istituto Tecnico Tecnologico Baracca Kaszubskie Liceum Ogólnokształcące w Brusach 2021 Elisa Lacagnina Thanks to the Etwinning platform I had the possibility to know Ms. Alicja Frymark, English teacher from Kashubian Secondary School (Kaszubskie Liceum Ogólnokształcące) in Brusy, Poland. Since our first online meeting on Skype, we have kept talking, most of all, of our school project called “Online exchange - Brescia & Brusy”. To start, we decided to assign our students a partner to make them work in pairs. Their task was to exchange emails with their friend about the topic given and then, with the information, to write a short article in English. We assigned different topics like Covid 19 and lockdown; traditional food; language uses; interesting facts about the city, the country and the region; school; local tradition. The first part of the project went really well and I was satisfied with the work done. My 5th-year students are enthusiastic about having a “virtual” foreign partner. I decided to start an online exchange because my students felt the need to improve their English speaking and writing skills, as we have only 3 hour English a week. According to me, these opportunities are not only useful to improve the language skills but also to expand your knowledge, to meet new people, to know about the uses and the customs of different countries. Moreover, it was the right moment to start a project of this kind precisely in this difficult period. We have been experiencing a different life, due to Covid 19 home–schooling, restrictions, curfews, prohibitions etc.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE AREA The study area is located at the West end of the Polish coast, near the Odra River mouth and extends westwards to the border with Germany. It is situated at the eastern part of the Pomeranian Bay (Figure 1). Fig. 1: Location map of the studied area (Perry-Castañeda, 2002). 2 EUROSION Case Study 1.1. Physical process level 1.1.1 Classification General: Soft rock coasts, sedimentary plains with dune coasts and lagoons CORINE: beaches, rocky coast Coastal guide: coastal plain, cliffs 1.1.2 Geology The western part of the Polish coast is 45 km long. It is a postglacial, consisting of moraines cliffs and sandy dunes. Coasts with dune’s don’t exceed beyond 10m wide, Cliff coast of the eastern part is 8-30m high and at the western part, the cliffs reach up to 70-80m. The coast consists of soft rocks, including Pleistocene glacial deposits and recent alluvial and littoral Holocene sediments (Photo 1). Pleistocene deposits appear generating cliffs, of which the upper-most part is built of Holocene aeolian series. Remaining 50% of the studied area is of spit and barrier type with dunes 2-3m to 10m high. Behind the spits there are relatively wide depressions of glacial or glaciofluvial origin, in most cases filled with peat.

    Airbus Adapts Commercial Aircraft Production and Assembly Activities in Northern Germany and Alabama Sites in COVID-19 Environment

    Airbus adapts commercial aircraft production and assembly activities in Northern Germany and Alabama sites in COVID-19 environment Stade, Bremen and Mobile, 06 April 2020 – Airbus is temporarily adapting commercial aircraft production and assembly activity at its German sites in Bremen and Stade and pausing production at its A220/A320 manufacturing facility in Mobile, Alabama in the United States. These actions are being taken in response to several factors related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic including high inventory levels in the sites and the various government recommendations and requirements which impact at different stages of the overall industrial production flow. Airbus remains committed to meeting customer demand. Commercial Aircraft production and assembly activities in Bremen will be paused from 6 April until 27 April inclusive, with key business support services continuing on the site. Airbus in Stade will pause production and assembly from 5-11 April inclusive, with some additional pause days in the weeks that follow in selected production departments. Key business support services will also remain active on the site. In Mobile, the pause in production begins this week and is expected to last until 29 April. Certain activities will continue on site, including building and installation maintenance, aircraft maintenance, some critical product safety and customer driven operations, receipt and control of materials and components, critical administrative support and preparation of activity restart. All ongoing work in Bremen and Stade in Germany and Mobile, Alabama U.S. will be done in adherence to the required hygiene measures and social distancing. Airbus is supporting efforts globally to tackle the COVID-19 crisis and has carried out extensive work in coordination with social partners to ensure the health and safety of its employees.
