Chef Borut Jovan, who was educated in Michelin’s restaurants (Italy, Spain, France, Denmark), led an a la carte restaurant Prestige (Sava hotels & resorts) and Gašper Puhan, designer with an eye for marketing, brought together the seemingly incompatible. Urban and wild, modern and traditional, local and global. They created Galerija okusov – wilderness in the middle of the city, by mixing nature, culture and contemporary local cuisine which creates a complete experience of culinary tourism. They are caught in the history and the natural environment of the park, the Baroque mansion Novo Celje, modern interpretation of the traditional local delicacies, herbs and vegetables from their own garden as well as a global culinary knowledge. We did not just stand by words because the proof is our own garden at the Galerija okusov where you can smell spices, wonder lush fruits and of course taste the local vegetables. We have also combined the plants from our environment therefore we have connected with local producers such as Horticulture Valner. Chef Borut Jovan has not just watched over the garden but also over the stock of fresh homemade pork products such as pork sausages. And yes, drops of exquisite wine are the work of Slovenian wine growers – MonteMoro, Dveri Pax, Radgonske gorice … With the association of business and social center Mega we organize an unforgettable experience: • À la carte, • finger food, • interactive cooking (visitors’ involvement in the preparation), • catering on your location, • concept picnic snacks, • standing or seated banquet, • press and business conferences, BREATHTAKING PARK MANSion Novo CELJE Novo Celje Mansion is a monumental building that is the result of a one-time construction and not of many renovation and reconstruction works. This ranks it among the most important monuments of the profane Baroque architecture in the territory of Slovenia. In the mid-18th century, it was built by a yet unknown yet first-class Austrian architect, probably following the example of Schönbrunn in Vienna. In the Baroque era, this mansion became the centre of the former Vovberg upper class and later Celje’s upper class. CULINARY TOURISM Green gold adventure We will enter the valley of “green gold,” learn, explore, experience and taste the life on a hop farm. Along with the hop-growing family we will learn about the life, past and present, and hear many interesting stories and adventures. Above all, we will be briefly put in their everyday life and try out various tasks and chores regarding hops (depending on the season). We will learn the process of producing hops, about hop products and the importance of hops in Savinjska valley for Slovenia. On the way to and from the farm, we will visit some other attractions in Žalec and Savinjska valley. We will go through the park Novo Celje and also make a little stroll through the history of the most beautiful baroque mansion Novo Celje. We will learn about the local culture, anecdotes, and glimpses of life in the valley. /Duration of the tourist interpretation: 1,5h/ Getting to know the life of hops and Savinjska valley will be completed with an unforgettable culinary experience at the Galerija okusov. “The way of Savinjska valley” with a touch of local and global, urban and wild, traditional and modern. Delicious Slovenian cuisine, contemporary design trends and different views of the world are things which connected ideas of chef Borut and designer Gašper. They do not distance from tradition but they carefully look for inspiration in it. They do not run away from knowledge of shovels and hoes use, but they pump from the “Lojzes,” elders of production, processing and usage of indigenous crops. With respect to them and to the nature of Slovenian indigenous raw materials they combine them in the Slovenian domestic brand product Lojz Lojz, which mixes their own creative ideas.
