Previous meetings • Slavia and Nice have been paired once before, in the 1997/98 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup second round, and it was only the away goals rule that separated them, the Czech side going through after two draws – 2-2 in Nice, 1-1 in Prague. • Those were the French club's only previous matches against Czech opposition, whereas Slavia have played an additional nine UEFA games against teams from France. They were without a win in their first five fixtures in Prague (D2 L3), a run that incorporated their heaviest European home defeat (1-5 to LOSC Lille in the 2009/10 UEFA Europa League group stage), but they stopped the rot in their most recent fixture, overcoming Bordeaux 1-0 on Matchday 1 of the 2018/19 UEFA Europa League. • Slavia's only other win against a French club was a 1-0 extra-time success against Lens in the 1995/96 UEFA Cup third round (after a 0-0 home draw), a competition in which they went on to reach the semi-finals before losing both legs 1-0 to Bordeaux. Form guide Slavia • Champions of the Czech Republic for the third time in four years last season, Slavia missed out on a second successive UEFA Champions League group stage adventure this term when, led again by coach Jindřich Trpišovský, they were defeated by Midtjylland in the play-offs (0-0 h, 1-4 a). • Fourth in their UEFA Champions League section last season, behind Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and Inter, Slavia are competing in the UEFA Europa League group stage for the fourth time. They failed to make further progress in 2009/10 and 2017/18 but went all the way to the quarter-finals on their last appearance, in 2018/19, despite scoring just four goals in the group stage. A dramatic 4-3 extra-time home win against competition specialists Sevilla in the round of 16, after a 2-2 first-leg draw in Spain, provided an unforgettable highlight. • Slavia's success against Leverkusen brought them only a second win in their last seven European home games (D1 L4). However, they have not conceded a goal in any of their last four UEFA Europa League group fixtures in Prague. Nice • After two years without European football, Nice qualified for a third appearance in the UEFA Europa League group stage after finishing fifth in the truncated 2019/20 Ligue 1 campaign. • Les Aiglons finished bottom of their group in 2016/17 but progressed as runners-up the following year in a section comprising Lazio, Vitesse and Zulte Waregem before going out to Lokomotiv Moskva (2-3 h, 0-1 a) in the round of 32. • Nice have won two and lost five of their seven away fixtures in the UEFA Europa League group stage. Their last four games on the road in the competition have all ended in defeat, three successive 1-0 losses preceding that heavy reverse at Leverkusen on Matchday 1. Links and trivia • The teams met in a pre-season friendly at the Eden Arena on 16 July 2017, with Slavia coming from behind to win 4- 1. • Slavia midfielder Stanciu was in the Romania side that lost 2-1 to France in the opening match of UEFA EURO 2016. 4 SK Slavia Praha - OGC Nice Thursday 5 November 2020 - 18.55CET (18.55 local time) Match press kit Eden Arena, Prague Team facts SK Slavia Praha Formed: 1892 Nickname: Sešívaní (The Sewn-Ups) UEFA club competition honours (runners-up in brackets) • None Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) League title: 20 (2020) National cup: 5 (2019) Ten-year European record (UEFA Europa League unless indicated otherwise) 2019/20: UEFA Champions League group stage 2018/19: quarter-finals (having transferred from UEFA Champions League third qualifying round) 2017/18: group stage (having transferred from UEFA Champions League play-offs) 2016/17: play-offs 2015/16: did not take part in UEFA competition 2014/15: did not take part in UEFA competition 2013/14: did not take part in UEFA competition 2012/13: did not take part in UEFA competition 2011/12: did not take part in UEFA competition 2010/11: did not take part in UEFA competition Records UEFA club competition • Biggest home win 5-1 three times, most recently v Partizan 14/11/02, UEFA Cup second round second leg 4-0 twice, most recently v PAOK 12/12/02, UEFA Cup third round second leg • Biggest away win 0-4: Cork City v Slavia 23/08/94, UEFA Cup preliminary round second leg • Heaviest home defeat 1-5: Slavia v LOSC Lille 01/10/09, UEFA Europa League group stage • Heaviest away defeat 7-0: Arsenal v Slavia 23/10/07, UEFA Champions League group stage UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League • Biggest home win 5-1 three times, most recently v Partizan (see above) 4-0 twice, most recently v PAOK (see above) • Biggest away win 0-4: Cork City v Slavia (see above) • Heaviest home defeat 1-5: Slavia v LOSC Lille (see above) • Heaviest away defeat 3-0 three times, most recently v Leeds United 16/03/00, quarter-finals first leg OGC Nice Formed: 1904 Nickname: Les Aiglons (The Eaglets) UEFA club competition honours (runners-up in brackets) • None Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) 5 SK Slavia Praha - OGC Nice Thursday 5 November 2020 - 18.55CET (18.55 local time) Match press kit Eden Arena, Prague League title: 4 (1959) French Cup: 3 (1997) Ten-year European record (UEFA Europa League unless indicated otherwise) 2019/20: did not take part in UEFA competition 2018/19: did not take part in UEFA competition 2017/18: round of 32 (having transferred from UEFA Champions League play-offs) 2016/17: group stage 2015/16: did not take part in UEFA competition 2014/15: did not take part in UEFA competition 2013/14: play-offs 2012/13: did not take part in UEFA competition 2011/12: did not take part in UEFA competition 2010/11: did not take part in UEFA competition Records UEFA club competition • Biggest home win 4-0: Nice v Fenerbahçe 24/10/73, UEFA Cup first round second leg • Biggest away win 1-5 Zulte Waregem v Nice 14/09/17, UEFA Europa League group stage • Heaviest home defeat 1-3: Nice v Lazio 19/10/17, UEFA Europa League group stage 0-2 twice, most recently v Napoli 22/08/17, UEFA Champions League play-off second leg • Heaviest away defeat 6-2: Leverkusen v Nice 22/10/20, UEFA Europa League group stage 4-0: Köln v Nice 12/12/73, UEFA Cup third round first leg UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League • Biggest home win 4-0: Nice v Fenerbahçe (see above) • Biggest away win 1-5: Zulte Waregem v Nice (see above) • Heaviest home defeat 1-3: Nice v Lazio (see above) 0-2: Nice v Salzburg 03/11/16, group stage • Heaviest away defeat 6-2: Leverkusen v Nice (see above) 4-0: Köln v Nice (see above) 6 SK Slavia Praha - OGC Nice Thursday 5 November 2020 - 18.55CET (18.55 local time) Match press kit Eden Arena, Prague Squad list SK Slavia Praha Current season All-time UCL UEL League UEL UEFA No.
