Amanzholov East Kazakhstan State University, Republic Kazakhstan, 070004, East Kazakhstan region, Ust-Kamenogorsk, street Kazakhstan, 55 Abstract To store the prepared grain without loss and damage is an important state task related to the provision of the population with bread, animals – with feedstuff, and industry – with raw material. This article describes the main pests of grain reserves and grain products, the main contamination sources of grain storages, the results of harmfulness of the pest complex and measures of their control. The timely revealing of the ways of contamination of grain reserves and preventive and direct control measures decrease the degree of contamination and reduce the harmfulness in the storages. We also studied the role and value of the ozone and ion and ozone treatment of grain in the storage protection system against pests. The purpose of the work is to develop an improved protection system for grain storages and its derivative products from pests that allows reducing the losses and deterioration in quality by 1.5-2 times in the new conditions of economic management and peculiarities of storage. The observation of the sanitary conditions in the storages preventing the intervention of pests into food reserves were observed and examined. The efficiency of the preventive measures was estimated.

  • Phylogenetic Relationships and Distribution of the Rhizotrogini (Coleoptera, Scarabaeidae, Melolonthinae) in the West Mediterranean
Graellsia, 59(2-3): 443-455 (2003) PHYLOGENETIC RELATIONSHIPS AND DISTRIBUTION OF THE RHIZOTROGINI (COLEOPTERA, SCARABAEIDAE, MELOLONTHINAE) IN THE WEST MEDITERRANEAN Mª. M. Coca-Abia* ABSTRACT In this paper, the West Mediterranean genera of Rhizotrogini are reviewed. Two kinds of character sets are discussed: those relative to the external morphology of the adult and those of the male and female genitalia. Genera Amadotrogus Reitter, 1902; Amphimallina Reitter, 1905; Amphimallon Berthold, 1827; Geotrogus Guérin-Méneville, 1842; Monotropus Erichson, 1847; Pseudoapeterogyna Escalera, 1914 and Rhizotrogus Berthold, 1827 are analysed: to demonstrate the monophyly of this group of genera; to asses the realtionships of these taxa; to test species transferred from Rhizotrogus to Geotrogus and Monotropus, and to describe external morphological and male and female genitalic cha- racters which distinguish each genus. Phylogenetic analysis leads to the conclusion that this group of genera is monophyletic. However, nothing can be said about internal relationships of the genera, which remain in a basal polytomy. Some of the species tranferred from Rhizotrogus are considered to be a new genus Firminus. The genera Amphimallina and Pseudoapterogyna are synonymized with Amphimallon and Geotrogus respectively. Key words: Taxonomy, nomenclature, review, Coleoptera, Scarabaeidae, Melolonthinae, Rhizotrogini, Amadotrogus, Amphimallon, Rhizotrogus, Geotrogus, Pseudoapterogyna, Firminus, Mediterranean basin. • Blastodermic Cuticles of the Jumping Bristletail, Pedetontus Unimaculatus (Microcoryphia, Machilidae)
Recent Advances in Insect Embryology in Japan 131 Edited by H. Ando and K. Miya. ISEBU Co. Ltd., Tsukuba 1985 Blastodermic Cuticles of the Jumping Bristletail, Pedetontus unimaculatus (Microcoryphia, Machilidae) Ryuichiro MACHIDA and Hiroshi ANDO Synopsis The formation and structure of blastodermic cuticles of the machilid, Pedetontus unimaculatus are de scribed and illustrated in detail. The formation of blastodermic cuticle commences in the stage of germ rudiment formation, and com pletes generally by about the time of the elongation of germ disc. The blastodermic cuticle is composed of three layers. The outermost layer (2-4l'm-thick) is dark brown in color. Its surface assumes a polygo nal pattern of which polygons are ca. 1OI'm in diameter, and at the center of each polygon a pointed process (ca. 2-3I'm-high) stands. The outermost layer also has various-shaped and sized nodal projections on its surface. The middle layer (4-8I'm-thick) is hyaline. The innermost layer (5-10I'm-thick) is also hyaline and bears radial striation. The basic plan of blastodermic cuticle in Pedetontus unimaculatus is in good agreement with those in machilids hitherto studied. Among the features of machilid blastodermic cuticles the formation in the earlier stages of development is the most noticeable within the ectognathous insects. Introduction In not a few insects, the secondary egg membranes, blastodermic or serosal cuticles, are formed during embryogenesis. They play an important role of the protection of egg. The blastodermic cuticles are also known in machilid eggs. Larink (1969, 1972, 1979) reported the formation and structure of blastodermic cuticles of some machilids (four genera, five species).

  • Functional Morphology of the Raptorial Forelegs in Mantispa Styriaca (Insecta: Neuroptera)
Zoomorphology https://doi.org/10.1007/s00435-021-00524-6 ORIGINAL PAPER Functional morphology of the raptorial forelegs in Mantispa styriaca (Insecta: Neuroptera) Sebastian Büsse1 · Fabian Bäumler1 · Stanislav N. Gorb1 Received: 14 September 2020 / Revised: 26 March 2021 / Accepted: 30 March 2021 © The Author(s) 2021 Abstract The insect leg is a multifunctional device, varying tremendously in form and function within Insecta: from a common walking leg, to burrowing, swimming or jumping devices, up to spinning apparatuses or tools for prey capturing. Raptorial forelegs, as predatory striking and grasping devices, represent a prominent example for convergent evolution within insects showing strong morphological and behavioural adaptations for a lifestyle as an ambush predator. However, apart from praying mantises (Mantodea)—the most prominent example of this lifestyle—the knowledge on morphology, anatomy, and the functionality of insect raptorial forelegs, in general, is scarce. Here, we show a detailed morphological description of raptorial forelegs of Mantispa styriaca (Neuroptera), including musculature and the material composition in their cuticle; further, we will discuss the mechanism of the predatory strike. We could confrm all 15 muscles previously described for mantis lacewings, regarding extrinsic and intrinsic musculature, expanding it for one important new muscle—M24c. Combining the information from all of our results, we were able to identify a possible catapult mechanism (latch-mediated spring actuation system) as a driving force of the predatory strike, never proposed for mantis lacewings before. Our results lead to a better understand- ing of the biomechanical aspects of the predatory strike in Mantispidae. This study further represents a starting point for a comprehensive biomechanical investigation of the convergently evolved raptorial forelegs in insects.

  • F. Christian Thompson Neal L. Evenhuis and Curtis W. Sabrosky Bibliography of the Family-Group Names of Diptera
    F. Christian Thompson Neal L. Evenhuis and Curtis W. Sabrosky Bibliography of the Family-Group Names of Diptera Bibliography Thompson, F. C, Evenhuis, N. L. & Sabrosky, C. W. The following bibliography gives full references to 2,982 works cited in the catalog as well as additional ones cited within the bibliography. A concerted effort was made to examine as many of the cited references as possible in order to ensure accurate citation of authorship, date, title, and pagination. References are listed alphabetically by author and chronologically for multiple articles with the same authorship. In cases where more than one article was published by an author(s) in a particular year, a suffix letter follows the year (letters are listed alphabetically according to publication chronology). Authors' names: Names of authors are cited in the bibliography the same as they are in the text for proper association of literature citations with entries in the catalog. Because of the differing treatments of names, especially those containing articles such as "de," "del," "van," "Le," etc., these names are cross-indexed in the bibliography under the various ways in which they may be treated elsewhere. For Russian and other names in Cyrillic and other non-Latin character sets, we follow the spelling used by the authors themselves. Dates of publication: Dating of these works was obtained through various methods in order to obtain as accurate a date of publication as possible for purposes of priority in nomenclature. Dates found in the original works or by outside evidence are placed in brackets after the literature citation.
