Egypans were using their calendar to know exact dates to do agriculture. Calendar Types

There were 2 different calendar systems in ancient Egypt:

Calendar (using stars) • Civil Calendar (origin of nowadays calendar) Lunar Calendar

Egypt used Luni-solar Calendar (lunar calendar) with There was a 13th month (Troth), intercalaon of extra month which was unl heliacal rising of Sothic happened. Each month started with a new moon, so the year was 11 days shorter than the modern one.
