Totally 30 species belonging to two subfamilies (Buprestinae and Agrilinae) and 8 genera were collected and identified. Of these 1 species is new for Iranian fauna and 19 species are new for Kurdistan Province. Key words: Buprestidae; Iran; Kurdistan; new records INTRODUCTION The Buprestidae is the eighth largest family of Coleoptera with many extant buprestids common and abundant in their respective habitats (Pan et al., 2011). Investigations on family of Buprestidae have not only theoretical but also great practical importance. There are many dangerous pests of fruit trees, forest trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants among buprestidae (Sakalian and Langourov, 2004). These insects are wood-boring as larvae, with the immature forms slowly tunneling through a variety of woody tissues of many tree and shrub species and some of them are leaf miner. The Buprestidae is comprised of nearly 14900 valid species (Bellamy, 2009) by six subfamilies (Bellamy 2008). Totally, 428 species belonging to 6 subfamilies are recorded from Iran in quite recently published catalogue of the Buprestidae of Iran (Ghahari et al ., 2015); this catalogue generalized previously published data of several survey works on Iranian fauna as well as of publication of wider geographical scale (Rikhter, 1949, 1952; Salavatian, 1950; Farahbakhsh, 1961; Radjabi, 1968, 1974, 1991; Bily, 1983, 2006a; Abaei and Adeli, 1984; Behdad, 1988; Modarres Awal, 1997; Borumand, 2002, 2004; Ghahari et al., 2008; Ghahari and Bellamy, 2008; Barimani Varandi et al ., 2009; Jendek & Grebennikov, 2011; Baiocchi, 2011; Ghobari et al ., 2012; Abaei, 2014, etc.). Present paper is continuing our studies on Buprestidae of Kurdistan (Ghobari et al ., 2012) and is dedicated to the subfamilies Buprestinae and Agrilinae. 146 species from these subfamilies are listed in catalogue of the Buprestidae of Iran (Ghahari et al ., 2015), and only 15 species are cited for Kurdistan (including 1 species reported as “generally distributed” in Iran). MATERIAL AND METHODS Material was collected in 2009-2011 in different regions of Kurdistan Province in ecosystems with different types of vegetation (rangelands, oak forests, gardens, etc.). Traditional collecting methods were used: sweeping on grass vegetations, beating of branches of trees and bushes, hand collecting, *Corresponding Author: [email protected] ©2016 FERDOWSI UNIVERSITY OF MASHHAD , IRAN 158 IRANIAN JOURNAL OF ANIMAL BIOSYSTEMATICS Vol.12, No.2 Trapping technique using different kinds of traps (colored sticky traps, pan traps and window trap) [Bellamy, 2000; Oliver et al. , 2004 and Sakalian & Langourov, 2004) was applied as well. Received: 9 October 2020; Accepted: 28 October 2020; Published: 30 October 2020 Simple Summary: Several wood-associated insects are inadvertently introduced every year within wood-packaging materials used in international trade. These insects can cause impressive economic and ecological damage in the invaded environment. Thus, several countries use traps baited with pheromones and plant volatiles at ports of entry and surrounding natural areas to intercept incoming exotic species soon after their arrival and thereby reduce the likelihood of their establishment. In this study, we investigated the performance of eight trap colors in attracting jewel beetles and bark and ambrosia beetles to test if the trap colors currently used in survey programs worldwide are the most efficient for trapping these potential forest pests. In addition, we tested whether trap colors can be exploited to minimize inadvertent removal of their natural enemies.

In Arabidopsis thaliana, this is estimated to be between a half to two-thirds. Most of what we know has come from comparisons of gene duplicates (i.e. homologous genes) between reference genomes across species, but we currently know little about gene copy-number variation within species. Standard algorithms to such variation rely on changes in sequencing coverage or chimeric reads generated as mapping artefacts.

  • Review of Saproxylic Beetles in Tugai Forests of Kazakhstan*
FORESTRY SCIENCES REVIEW OF SAPROXYLIC BEETLES IN TUGAI FORESTS OF KAZAKHSTAN* Yu.S. Borissova Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences, Prague, Czech Republic In the review, the data about the saproxylic beetles in the tugai forests of Kazakhstan is described. The main tree and shrub species related to saproxylic beetles are reported and the beetle species diversity is presented in a table. Of the species listed in the table, 36 species of saproxylic beetles are related to Populus sp. (Populus diversifolia and P. pruinosa), 21 species to Elaeagnus angustifolia, 20 species to Tamarix sp., and 17 species to Salix sp. The least number of saproxylic beetles was re- lated to Fraxinus sogdiana (2 species) and Halimodendron halodendron (3 species). The author detected data about the repre- sentatives of the following families of Coleoptera: Brentidae, Bostrichidae, Buprestidae, Cerambycidae, and Curculionidae on the territory of tugai forests and the arid zone of Kazakhstan. According to the used references, the most numbered family of saproxylic beetles in the tugai forests is Buprestidae: 41 species have been known. The author found out data about 17 species of Curculionidae and 10 species of Cerambycidae. Other families have a lower number of species. It means that Buprestidae is the most studied family in the tugai forests of Kazakhstan. Further research is necessary to extend knowledge about the diver- sity of saproxylic beetles in the tugai forests of Kazakhstan. • An Annotated Checklist of Iranian Asilidae (Insecta: Diptera: Brachycera: Asiloidea)
© Biologiezentrum Linz/Austria; download unter www.zobodat.at Linzer biol. Beitr. 46/2 1379-1446 19.12.2014 An annotated checklist of Iranian Asilidae (Insecta: Diptera: Brachycera: Asiloidea) H. GHAHARI, R. HAYAT, R.J. LAVIGNE & H. OSTOVAN A b s t r a c t : A checklist of the Asilidae (Diptera) from Iran is provided based on a survey of the literature. In total 289 species and subspecies representing 88 genera and 9 subfamilies (Apocleinae, Asilinae, Atomosinae, Dasypogoninae, Laphriinae, Laphystiinae, Leptogastrinae, Ommatiinae, Stenopogoninae) are listed. Synonymies, distribution data, and prey records, where available, are presented for each species. Key words: Diptera, Asilidae, Robber fly, Predator, Prey, Catalogue, Iran. Introduction Robber flies or assassin flies (Asiloidea, Asilidae) comprise one of the most taxonomi- cally diverse, speciose, and conspicuous families of Diptera (BARNES et al. 2007). This family is particularly known for its predatory habits and mimicry of other insects, especi- ally bees and wasps (Hymenoptera) (LAVIGNE et al. 1978). Robber flies are an important group of predators in all zoogeographical regions (LONDT 2006), and are characteristic of steppe and desert landscapes (ASTAKHOV 2011). Over 7,000 valid species are known, representing 530 genera and subgenera; these are distributed throughout the world, ex- cept in the Arctic and the Antarctic. In addition, 18 genera and 39 species have been described from the Eocene, Oligocene, and Miocene; 15 of these genera exist today (GHAHARI et al. 2007c). Asilids display both great diversity and abundance in arid regions, and in grasslands (LONDT 2006). These are highly effective predatory as adults (both sexes) and larvae, feeding mainly on insects and more rarely, on spiders.
