It's hard to believe it has been six weeks since life changed due to COVID. Like you, we have adjusted to a new normal while looking forward with joy to life together in person.

So far, the greatest impact to our ministry has been the disruption to our LAB Initiative events scheduled for this spring and the cancellation of our annual Pastors' Gratitude event. Our support and care for pastors and investment in the local church continues. Right now, we are focused on supporting pastors as they prepare to shepherd people through second and third order consequences of the virus and our nation's unprecedented response.

While we await the green light to resume in person gatherings, we will continue to host Chapel on V3 Radio Sunday evenings at 6:30pm. In addition, we are continually recording new episodes for LAB: The Podcast and new LAB Sessions. This week, I will be spending some time with actor and founder of Fellowship for Performing Arts, Max McLean. You might know Max as the voice in your audio Bible. I will be talking to Max about how the arts are "essential" as we reopen our cities. Steven Christian of joins me next week to talk about his upcoming Anchor & Braille release and we will hear a powerful story of God's presence amidst tragedy from Lieutenant Tony Kolias with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office in Oregon.

We partnered with Buddy Brew for some VO ops and shared LAB coffee with the Tampa General Hospital staff and the entire crew from our local South Tampa Trader Joe's. These VO ops were an encouragement for everyone involved.

Finally, God has been at work through this season sharpening our work to directly engage culture with the hope of the gospel. We will share more in our next newsletter. We are grateful for your prayers and your partnership in the gospel.

Keep your vision up.

IHS,

Zach

We are working with Jeremy Lewis, International Association of Human Trafficking Investigators and our team on the ground to reschedule our law enforcement training and human trafficking investigator appreciation event. It is possible that this event could happen as early as mid-August.

Please continue to pray for everyone involved in planning and preparation for this event. It is an awesome thing to bring so many agencies together for training and not easy to get agency leadership together in the same room for an appreciation event.

We hope to share a new date for these events as well as our human trafficking ministry round table in our next newsletter.

"And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:7

A seemingly irresponsible peace. I wish for that. To be found sleeping in the boat. Even for just the night. With not a thought of storm or bread. But through the night I walk the deep valleys of my mind. Lost in canyons formed by habit and time. You won't hear it from my lips but you'll see it in my eyes.

I pray. I do. I do give thanks. But the burden remains. Shall I pretend it doesn't? Fools and children pretend.

Maybe you can imagine saying something similar. I've whispered words like this privately so many times and aired them with a few over the years. And now you ask? Well, I am learning and I do sleep better. The secret? I don't know if there is one.

What I do know is that I have been made a fool more times than I care to admit and I am discovering the more we mature, the more child we see. Today I am more comfortable with both. Safe to say things like, I don't know. I wish I could answer that but I just can't. I could sure use your help. Or, right now what I can do is wait and pray.

Paul begins the verse above with "Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." If we allow these words to speak, they'll invite us to choose joy and leave our requests with God. I'm sure I heard the invitation before, it's the choosing and leaving parts that haven't come easy. Especially in the storms.

Well, here we are and here again is the invitation to choose joy and leave our requests in exchange for what seems to be an irresponsible peace. May it be.
