ERCROS, NEW OFFICIAL SPONSOR OF THE MEDITERRANEAN GAMES TARRAGONA 2018 The mayor and president of the organizing committee of the games and the president of Ercros have signed the agreement Ercros has become a new official sponsor of the Tarragona 2018 Mediterranean Games. The sponsorship agreement has been signed by the mayor and chairman of the organizing committee of the games, Josep Fèlix Ballesteros, and the president and CEO of Ercros, Antonio Zabalza Martí. The event took place at Casa Canals. Javier Villamayor, commissioner of the Mediterranean Games, has also attended. The mayor of Tarragona, Josep Fèlix Ballesteros, thanked Ercros for its support and involvement with the Mediterranean Games and added “with less than a year left for the inaugural ceremony, we continue to join fellow travellers who will help us organize great games. It is superb to be able to count on the support of a company with a strong presence in the territory". The president and CEO of Ercros, Antonio Zabalza Martí, pointed out "the history of Ercros is linked to Tarragona and for us it is a pleasure to sign this agreement that will make the region, the scene of the best sport in the world". He also recalled Ercros' efforts to get new products and technologically advanced applications that help optimize the performance of athletes and allows them to reach unattainable limits they had a few years ago. New collaboration company Ercros joins other national and international companies that are committed as official sponsors with the Mediterranean Games Tarragona 2018. Ercros is a chemical group of centenary tradition; five of the 11 industrial facilities are located in the province of Tarragona. It maintains a leading position in all markets where it is present and exports almost half of its sales in more than 128 countries, mainly of the European Union. The company carries out its productive activity in the framework of a voluntary commitment in favour of the safety of its facilities and the health of the people, respect for the environment, the quality of its products and the dialogue and transparency in its relation with the society. The newly elected EC, which will be led by President Janez Kocijančič, will guide the EOC for the next two Olympic Games in PyeongChang in 2018 and in Tokyo in 2020. The new EC will also lead the EOC at two Youth Olympic Games, in Buenos Aires in 2018 and in Lausanne in 2020. On a continental level, 2018 means for the EOC the Mediterranean Games in Tarragona and above all preparations in view of a busy 2019, which includes the Winter European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Sarajevo & East Sarajevo, the Summer EYOF in Baku and of course the second edition of the European Games in Minsk! After his election in Zagreb, EOC President Kocijančič said: “I am honoured to be elected to lead the European Olympic Committees over the next four years. The EOC has the opportunity to achieve great things in the near future, and I will work hard with the newly elected Executive Committee to ensure the EOC reaches its potential. The election of the new Executive Committee marked a great opportunity to reflect on the successes of the past four years, but also gave us the chance to look at how our past successes can help us continue to improve in the future.
