2019 Florida Gators Track & Field 2019 FLORIDA GATORS TRACK & FIELD 10 NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS | 114 INDIVIDUAL NATIONAL TITLES | 28 SEC CHAMPIONSHIPS Gators Set to Defend Men’s and Women’s Titles • Florida’s men and women swept the SEC Outdoor Championships for the first time in program history last May. • Although it was the 11th sweep in meet history, the Gators’ sweep was just the fourth at SEC Outdoors since 1991. • The titles were the sixth SEC Outdoor crowns in program history for both the men and women. • Neither Florida’s men or women have ever repeated as champions at SEC Outdoors. And Florida’s men could become the first repeat champion since Arkansas won three consecutive titles from 2011-13. 2018 SEC OUTDOORS RECAP • The Gators could become the third program in SEC history to sweep SEC CHAMPIONS the men’s and women’s titles in consecutive years, with the only others to do so being LSU (1988-90) and Tennessee (1981-84). Arkansas had MEN non-consecutive sweeps in 2000, 2004, and 2016. Athlete Event Time / Mark • The indoor national title was Florida’s fifth in program history - breaking a Avione Allgood Javelin Throw 55.40m / 181-9 tie with Oregon for the third-most indoor crowns in Division I history. Only Sharrika Barnett 400 meters 50.69 Arkansas (20) and UTEP (7) have more. • Florida’s five indoor titles this decade put them in elite company among all ALL-SEC SECOND TEAM Division I sports. The newly elected EC, which will be led by President Janez Kocijančič, will guide the EOC for the next two Olympic Games in PyeongChang in 2018 and in Tokyo in 2020. The new EC will also lead the EOC at two Youth Olympic Games, in Buenos Aires in 2018 and in Lausanne in 2020. On a continental level, 2018 means for the EOC the Mediterranean Games in Tarragona and above all preparations in view of a busy 2019, which includes the Winter European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Sarajevo & East Sarajevo, the Summer EYOF in Baku and of course the second edition of the European Games in Minsk! After his election in Zagreb, EOC President Kocijančič said: “I am honoured to be elected to lead the European Olympic Committees over the next four years. The EOC has the opportunity to achieve great things in the near future, and I will work hard with the newly elected Executive Committee to ensure the EOC reaches its potential. Herman Frazier Outdoor 4x400m Relay – 1976 Outdoor 400m Dash – 1977 Frazier, a US Olympic Champion as well, anchored the 4x400m relay team to gold at the 1976 meet, marking the first relay title in program history.
