STATUTORY RULES OF NORTHERN IRELAND 2017 No. 21 ROADS The Former Derriaghy Road, Lisburn (Abandonment) Order (Northern Ireland) 2017 Made - - - - 19th January 2017 Coming into operation - 26th April 2017 The Department for Infrastructure(a) makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 68(1) and (5) of the Roads (Northern Ireland) Order 1993( b) and now vested in it( c). The Department in accordance with Article 68(4) of that Order proposes to abandon the area of road described in the Schedule as it is not necessary. Notice has been published, served and displayed in compliance with paragraphs 1, 2 and 3 of Schedule 8 to that Order. One objection was received and subsequently withdrawn. Citation and commencement 1. This Order may be cited as The Former Derriaghy Road, Lisburn (Abandonment) Order (Northern Ireland) 2017 and shall come into operation on 26th April 2017. Application 2. The area of road described in the Schedule is abandoned. 3. —(1) All existing cables, wires, mains, pipes or other apparatus placed along, across, over or under the abandoned area of road shall be retained. RESEARCHING HUGUENOT SETTLERS IN IRELAND1 VIVIEN COSTELLO PREAMBLE This study is a genealogical research guide to French Protestant refugee settlers in Ireland, c. 1660–1760. It reassesses Irish Huguenot settlements in the light of new findings and provides a background historical framework. A comprehensive select bibliography is included. While there is no formal listing of manuscript sources, many key documents are cited in the footnotes. This work covers only French Huguenots; other Protestant Stranger immigrant groups, such as German Palatines and the Swiss watchmakers of New Geneva, are not featured. INTRODUCTION Protestantism in France2 In mainland Europe during the early sixteenth century, theologians such as Martin Luther and John Calvin called for an end to the many forms of corruption that had developed within the Roman Catholic Church. When their demands were ignored, they and their followers ceased to accept the authority of the Pope and set up independent Protestant churches instead. Bitter religious strife throughout much of Europe ensued. In France, a Catholic-versus-Protestant civil war was waged intermittently throughout the second half of the sixteenth century, followed by ever-increasing curbs on Protestant civil and religious liberties.3 The majority of French Protestants, nicknamed Huguenots,4 were followers of Calvin. -

Killowen Distillery Background Killowen Distillery is seated in the heart of the Mournes in County Down where horizons are framed by sweeping hills that slope gently into the sea. It is our understanding that Killowen are the only Distillery to focus on purely worm tub condensers in Ireland. The Register is available for use by the public in the Commission’s office. Under the legislation, public authorities as specified by the Office of the First Minister and the Deputy First Minister are automatically treated as registered with the Commission. All other employers have a duty to register if they have more than 10 employees working 16 hours or more per week. Employers who meet the conditions for registration are given one month in which to apply for registration.
