I was born in Drumraney and was educated at the local school there. There was nothing taught in school then that would serve as a foundation or build-up in young boys any deep sense of patriotism. father had been in Australia and there he had come in contact with many of the men who had been deported or had to leave Ireland because they loved it too well, according to English standards When we were children, he regularly discussed Irish History with us and enlightened us on the many crimes and wrongs perpetrated on our country by the English invader, and he often sang traditional folk songs for us. Thus we grew up in an atmosphere in which there was a love for everything Irish and with a great desire to see the country independent and in commandof her own destiny. I think my father was a Fenian. I had read and studied books such as "The Jail Journal" and "The last Conquest". In 1907 I became a member of the Irish Republican Brotherhood. Peter Malinn was organising the I.R.B. in County Westmeath at this time and later on w brother John continued to push the. -

No. 317 Road Traffic and Vehicles 1435 1991 No. 317 ROAD TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES Roads (Speed Limit) (No. 4) Order (Northern Ireland) 1991 Made 22nd July 1991 Coming into operation 2nd September 1991 The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Articles 2(2)(a) and 50(4) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981 (b) and of every other power" enabling it in that behalf, orders and directs as follows: . Citation and commencement 1. This Order may be cited as the Roads (Speed Limit) (No. 4) Order (Northern Ireland) 1991 and shall come into ·operation on 2nd September 1991. Speed restrictions on· certain roads 2. Each of the roads or lengths of road specified in Schedule 1 shall be a restricted road for the purposes of Article 50 of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981. 3. The length of road specified in Schedule 2 shall not be a restricted road for the purposes of said Article 50. Revocations 4. The provisions described in Schedule 3 are revoked. The Register is available for use by the public in the Commission’s office. Under the legislation, public authorities as specified by the Office of the First Minister and the Deputy First Minister are automatically treated as registered with the Commission. All other employers have a duty to register if they have more than 10 employees working 16 hours or more per week. Employers who meet the conditions for registration are given one month in which to apply for registration. This month begins from the end of the week in which the concern employed more than 10 employees in Northern Ireland. It is a criminal offence for such an employer not to apply for registration within this period. Persons who become employers in relation to a registered concern are also under a legal duty to apply to have their name and address entered on the Register within one month of becoming such an employer. -
