Alumni of Indian Public Schools Meet in New York

In a one of its kind event in the world, Alumni of 10 Leading Public Schools of India Including Scindia School, Doon School, Mayo College, and others met for a Unique Pan Public School Alumni Networking Event and Reception on Wed Nov 18, 2009 in New York City.

The Chief Guest, Counsel General Prabhu Dayal complemented the efforts of the Alumni and inspired them to be the bridge between the cultures and businesses of India and USA.

Noted film maker Anurag Kashyap, who is a Scindia School, Gwalior (1989 batch), was reminiscing his school days and seemed overwhelmed to meet Alumni friends after long.

As a mark of respect and in continuation of the name of his latest movie Gulaal, Anurag applied a Gulaal Tika to Mr. Brij Raj Singh, Daly College 1955 and Dr B Vishwanathan, Scindia 1956: the two senior most Alumni present at the event. The event had a span of 50 years of Public School Alumni present as the youngest attendee was a 2003 pass out. Alumni from 9 States of USA, Canada, India and one even from Thailand were present at the event. The Alumni present seemed quite enthused by the idea of a Pan Public Alumni gathering and were catching up with their old friends and Alumni. The Alumni of most of these Public Schools do meet periodically amongst themselves in different cities in USA, but to bring all in a single gathering in an organized format was not thought of earlier.

The whole idea of creating a Pan Public School Alumni gathering was conceived and brought to life by Jitendra Muchhal, Niraj Lal, Dhirendra Tiwari and Manmohan Uttawar of The Scindia Old Boys Alumni Association. The event was hosted by and at the offices of Moses & Singer, a Law firm based in New York, who decorated their offices in full Indian theme and served Indian delicacies to the Alumni.

The Chairman of the Firm, Alan Kolod mentioned the evening as a gesture of good will and friendship with Indian Professionals with a great background.

The Public Schools whose Alumni attended the event included: Scindia School, Gwalior: Mayo College, : Doon School, Dehradun: Lawrence School, Sanawar: Lawrence School, Lovedale: Daly College, Indore: SKV, Gwalior: MGD, and Rajkumar College, .
