SPECIAL ADVERTISING SECTION Visit Ohio’s Historic Bridges Historic and unique bridges have a way of sticking in our collective memories. Many of us remember the bridge we crossed walking to school, a landmark on the way to visit relatives, the gateway out of town or a welcoming indication that you are back in familiar territory. The Ohio Department of Transportation, in collaboration with the Ohio Historic Bridge Association, Ohio History Connection’s State Historic Preservation Office, TourismOhio and historicbridges.org, has assembled a list of stunning bridges across the state that are well worth a journey. Ohio has over 500 National Register-listed and historic bridges, including over 150 wooden covered bridges. The following map features iron, steel and concrete struc- tures, and even a stone bridge built when canals were still helping to grow Ohio’s economy. Some were built for transporting grain to market. Other bridges were specifically designed to blend into the scenic landscape of a state or municipal park. Many of these featured bridges are Ohio Historic Bridge Award recipients. The annual award is given to bridge owners and engineers that rehabilitate, preserve or reuse historic structures. The awards are sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration, ODOT and Ohio History Connection’s State Historic Preservation Office. Country Report for the Preparation of the First Report on the State of the World’s Animal Genetic Resources Report on Domestic Animal Genetic Resources in China June 2003 Beijing CONTENTS Executive Summary Biological diversity is the basis for the existence and development of human society and has aroused the increasing great attention of international society. In June 1992, more than 150 countries including China had jointly signed the "Pact of Biological Diversity". Domestic animal genetic resources are an important component of biological diversity, precious resources formed through long-term evolution, and also the closest and most direct part of relation with human beings. Therefore, in order to realize a sustainable, stable and high-efficient animal production, it is of great significance to meet even higher demand for animal and poultry product varieties and quality by human society, strengthen conservation, and effective, rational and sustainable utilization of animal and poultry genetic resources. The "Report on Domestic Animal Genetic Resources in China" (hereinafter referred to as the "Report") was compiled in accordance with the requirements of the "World Status of Animal Genetic Resource " compiled by the FAO. The Ministry of Agriculture" (MOA) has attached great importance to the compilation of the Report, organized nearly 20 experts from administrative, technical extension, research institutes and universities to participate in the compilation team. In 1999, the first meeting of the compilation staff members had been held in the National Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Service, discussed on the compilation outline and division of labor in the Report compilation, and smoothly fulfilled the tasks to each of the compilers. -

NPS Form 10-900-a OMB Approval No. 1024-0018 (8-86) United States Department of the Interior National Park Service National Register of Historic Places Continuation Sheet section number G, H page 156 V E H I C U L A R B R I D G E S I N A R I Z O N A Geographic Data: State of Arizona Summary of Identification and Evaluation Methods The Arizona Historic Bridge Inventory, which forms the basis for this Multiple Property Documentation Form [MPDF], is a sequel to an earlier study completed in 1987. The original study employed 1945 as a cut-off date. This study inventories and evaluates all of the pre-1964 vehicular bridges and grade separations currently maintained in ADOT’s Structure Inventory and Appraisal [SI&A] listing. It includes all structures of all struc- tural types in current use on the state, county and city road systems. Additionally it includes bridges on selected federal lands (e.g., National Forests, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base) that have been included in the SI&A list. Generally not included are railroad bridges other than highway underpasses; structures maintained by federal agencies (e.g., National Park Service) other than those included in the SI&A; structures in private ownership; and structures that have been dismantled or permanently closed to vehicular traffic. There are exceptions to this, however, and several abandoned and/or privately owned structures of particular impor- tance have been included at the discretion of the consultant. The bridges included in this Inventory have not been evaluated as parts of larger road structures or historic highway districts, although they are clearly integral parts of larger highway resources. -

Mycosphere 5(1), 27–76, Doi 10.5943/mycosphere/5/1/2 Abstract A total of 36 species of Hypogymnia are known from southwestern China. This region is a center of biodiversity for the genus. Hypogymnia capitata, H. nitida, H. saxicola, H. pendula, and H. tenuispora are newly described species from Yunnan and Sichuan. Olivetoric acid is new as a major lichen substance in Hypogymnia, occurring only in H. capitata. A key and illustrations are given for the species known from this region, along with five species from adjoining regions that might be confused or have historically been misidentified in this region. Key words – Lecanorales – lichenized ascomycetes – Parmeliaceae – Shaanxi – Sichuan – Tibet – Yunnan – Xizang. Introduction The first major collections of Hypogymnia from southwestern China were by Handel- Mazzetti, from which Zahlbruckner (1930) reported six species now placed in Hypogymnia, and Harry Smith (1921-1934, published piecewise by other authors; Herner 1988). Since the last checklist of lichens in China (Wei 1991), which reported 16 species of Hypogymnia from the southwestern provinces, numerous species of Hypogymnia from southwestern China have been described or revised (Chen 1994, Wei & Bi 1998, McCune & Obermayer 2001, McCune et al. -

The interaction of the various structural components results in an efficient structure which is continuously evolving and providing new methods to increase span lengths. The objective of this thesis is to describe in detail the basic structural behaviour of each of the components of cable-stayed bridges, and to present the analysis of a specific cable-stayed bridge which was proposed for the Charles River Crossing. -

Due to the great support of Wenzhou Government, the hard-work of teachers and students from historical departments of universities and some volunteers in Wenzhou, the project was greatly fruitful. This paper will present the background, processing, achievements and the importance of this project. Meanwhile, it will talk about the role which Wenzhou Library played in this project. Keywords: History, Regional collection, genealogy, manuscripts, encyclopedia Background to the Folk Historical Documents Collection Project As an important project in the cultural development of Wenzhou, the compiling work of general History of Wenzhou was approved in 2010. It will help Wenzhou to become a historically and culturally celebrated city of China. The General History of Wenzhou, which is the first officially compiled history of Wenzhou in the past 6,000 years, which is from prehistory times to the founding of the People's Republic of China. According to Professor Wu Songdi, who is the chief editor, the General History of Wenzhou will include about three million words, which is divided into seven volumes, namely, introduction volume, East Ou empire volume, Han and Tang dynasties volume, Song and Yuan dynasties volume, Ming dynasty volume, Qing dynasty volume and Republic of China volume. -

E-mail:[email protected] Abstract A synopsis of the subfamily Haplogleniinae Newman, 1853 (Neuroptera: Ascalaphidae) is presented. One new synonyms is proposed. Protidricerus palliventralis Yang, 1999 syn.n. is a junior synonym of Protidricerus elwesii (McLachlan, 1891). Two genera and eight species are redescribed and illustrated, and keys to the genera and species are presented. Key words: Owlfly, Idricerus, Protidricerus, new synonym Introduction The subfamily Haplogleniinae Newman, 1853 (Neuroptera: Ascalaphidae) has as its diagnostic character: eyes entire, without a transverse furrow. Nearly 100 species in 27 genera of the subfamily Haplogleniinae have been reported in the world, and are distributed mainly in South Asia, sub-Saharan Africa, Madagascar and the Americas (Tjeder 1992). To date, only a few species of Haplogleniinae have been recorded from northern hemisphere. No species of Haplogleniinae have been found in Australia. So far three genera are reported in Asia: Protidricerus, Idricerus and Ptyngidricerus. Before our study 5 species of Idricerus and 5 species of Protidricerus were reported in China. We found a synonym relationship among them.
