BARDOLINO DOC CLASSICO Harvest 2019 MARCHESINI HISTORY Marcello Marchesini Winery is situated in Lazise on Lake Garda, where it keeps its roots deeply planted and breaths years of hard work, passion and true love for the vineyard. Late Grandfather ‘Nonno Plinio’, worked hard after the war and put all his savings to purchasing a tractor in order to continue working on the land of Count Cavazzocca in Lazise, just as his family had been doing for the previous 200 years. His hard work and determination paid off when in a short space of time he managed to buy for himself Count Cavazzocca’s house and his very first vineyard, the one still known today as I Santi, where the production of the grapes for Bardolino are still being cultivated. In the 80’s, Marcello, the son of Plinio took over the family business and here a new generation started a new way of producing wine. Over the years, Marcello had worked in wineries in the area and brought new ideas to the business. The vision of Nonno Plinio, who had experienced hunger, hard work and the difficulties of working on the land meaning he focused mainly on quantity was then taken over by Marcello’s new way of working on the quality of wine, leaving the idea of quantity behind him. In the new millennium the winery took a new turn when a new ‘Pink’ generation came in to give the winery a feminine touch. The winery is currently run by Marcello’s daughters; Erika and Giorgia. Giorgia is Enologist, following through the process of vinification together with her father Marcello, working both in the wine cellar and in the vines.

WRITTEN QUESTION E-3503/07 by Donata Gottardi (PSE) and Sepp Kusstatscher (Verts/ALE) to the Commission Subject: Quarry and cement production plant at Caprino Veronese and Rivoli Veronese This question is designed to draw the Commission's attention once again to the project to extend the quarry and build a cement factory in the municipality of Caprino Veronese in the province of Verona. The earlier question E-0752/07 explained that the area concerned borders on the site of Community interest SCI No IT3210022 and the special protection area SPA No IT3210041 and that a cement factory would have an extremely adverse effect on the environment and the lives of the local community. The present situation is that a screening study of the environmental impact on the SCI and the SPA carried out by the company that owns the quarry has been submitted to the province of Verona. The screening concluded that there is no need for an environmental impact assessment because 'it is unlikely that there would be significant effects on the Natura 2000 site 'Monte Baldo East' (SCI/SPA IT 3210041)'. Does not the Commission consider that the local authorities involved - municipality, province and region - should demand that an environmental impact assessment be carried out in accordance with Directive 85/337/EEC1 on the assessment of the effects of certain public and private projects on the environment (the EIA Directive, as amended by Directive 97/11/EC2 and by Directive 2003/35/EC3) with regard to this project to extend a quarry and build a cement factory? Dario Calomino Processing coin finds data in Northern Italy: the case of Veneto and Verona ICOMON e-Proceedings (Utrecht, 2008) 3(2009), 55 - 62 Downloaded from: www.icomon.org 55 Processing coin finds data in Northern Italy: the case of Veneto and Verona Dario Calomino Università degli Studi di Verona [email protected] The aim of this paper is to present the numismatic research of the Centro Regionale di Catalogazione dei Beni Numismatici del Veneto, a programme of cataloguing and processing coin finds and numismatic collections data in the region of Veneto, supervised by Prof. Giovanni Gorini of the University of Padua. The project takes place with the cooperation of both municipal and state museums, gathering together all the coins found in the region or belonging to historical collections. The coin finds are published in the multi-volume series of the Ritrovamenti monetali di età romana in Veneto, and the entire numismatic heritage of the museums of Veneto is catalogued in a numismatic computer database that will be available on the regional website. This paper offers some examples of the filing scheme for both the volumes and the database, illustrating research tools that can be used to find a specimen or to process data for further studies. Some results of these projects are also shown in the paper. The publication plan for coin finds and numismatic research in the town of Verona is also illustrated, in particular the forthcoming volume covering the coins found in the historical centre. Since 1986 the Centro Regionale di Catalogazione dei Beni Numismatici del Veneto (Regional Centre for Cataloguing the Numismatic Heritage in Veneto) has promoted a wide programme of cataloguing and processing data concerning coin finds in the region of Veneto, supervised by Prof.
