Who will take it home in 2019? Founded in 1983, the AVP is the longest standing and most well known American beach volleyball organization, facilitating national tournaments, developing new talent, invigorating communities through sport, and promoting a beach volleyball lifestyle across the United States. The AVP’s second stop on the 2019 Tour is to the second largest state in the country, Texas. The capital city of Austin playing host to high-level volleyball is nothing new to the area. Combine a passionate fanbase with the country’s top pro beach volleyball athletes, and a little extra sprinkle of that Austin-weird, this tournament is sure to be one of the can’t-miss stops on tour. In 2018, the AVP saw Phil Dalhausser, Nick Lucena, April Ross, and Alix Klineman take home first place in the Austin Open. Dalhausser and Lucena also won the Austin Open in 2018, adding on to their impressive resume. The AVP is excited to welcome you to the 2019 Austin Open. The 2019 season is shaping up to be an amazing experience for all, highlighted by eight unique tour stops. AVP events embrace the beauty of our sport and the lifestyle, and we look forward to sharing this with the community in Austin. The 2019 Austin Open will be made up of 16 Main Draw teams for both men and women — 10 auto entries, 2 wild cards, and 4 qualifier teams. Athletes are competing for a slice of the $150,000 in prize money. Besides watching the world-class athletes battle for the podium, attendees can enjoy an interactive sponsor village experience: free falling into the Jump Zone, partaking in top local food options, VIP hospitality zones, drinks, and physical activities.

  • National Collegiate Beach Volleyball Championship Records Book
NATIONAL COLLEGIATE BEACH VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP RECORDS BOOK 2016 Championship 2 History 4 All-Time Team Results 10 2016 CHAMPIONSHIP HIGHLIGHTS Top-ranked USC (34-2) cemented its place in history with a 3-0 win over No. 2 Florida State (32-3) by a 3-0 count in the inaugural NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship on the sands of Gulf Place on Sunday, May 8. The Women of Troy completed the year on an incredible 30-match winning streak and secured back-to-back national titles in beach volleyball as the defending AVCA champions of 2015. Junior All-Americans Kelly Claes and Sara Hughes were chosen to the NCAA all-tournament team as the pair from the No. 1 position and sophomore Jo Kremer and senior Zoe Nightingale were all-tournament selections at the No. 5 spot. The NCAA crown is USC’s 124th team title and the school’s 101st NCAA championship; the 17th NCAA crown won by a USC women’s team. The Trojans faced the top-seeded Seminoles twice and dropped just one point in four duals. USC’s beach team repeated a piece of history the Trojans’ indoor volleyball team accomplished in 1981 as the first-ever NCAA women’s indoor volleyball champions. That team also won the previous national championship (the 1980 AIAW title). The Women of Troy went into the record books as the first-ever NCAA champion when Claes and Hughes completed the 21-15, 21-10 win over Julie Brown and Jace Pardon at the top court. The win solidified the duo’s undefeated season (48-0) and extended their winning streak to an incredible 73 victories.
