2021 USC Beach Volleyball • Three-time National Champions AVCA Coaches Top 20 Poll POLL POSITION: USC was ranked No. 4 in the 2021 AVCA Coaches Top 20 preseason poll. The Women of Troy have been ranked in every AVCA poll for a total of 66 weeks. USC has also been ranked in the top five of the poll 65 times. The Trojans held that top-five distinction for 63 consecutive weeks from its inception until March 2, 2020. USC first seized the top spot in both polls on March 23, 2015, following a victory over then No. 1-ranked Hawai’i on the road and held the ranking for the rest of 2015. USC has been ranked No. 1 in 36 AVCA polls, the RK TEAM RECORD LAST most all-time. The Trojans, Pepperdine, Hawai’i, UCLA, and LSU are the only five 1 LSU (7) 4-0 1 teams ever to hold the top spot in the poll. USC is 100-9 all-time when ranked No. 2 Florida State 4-0 3 1. CBVB Committee Top 20 Poll IN TRANSIT: The 2021 USC roster features five transfer players.Paige Dreeuws (San Marcos, Calif.) and Hailey Harward (Phoenix, Ariz.) joined the program ahead of the 2020 season. Dreeuws previously played at Hawai’i and Harward came from Long Beach State where she played both indoor and beach volleyball. STAFF INFECTION: Over the years, the Trojans’ coaching staff has featured some of the game’s biggest names. Before he became the head coach, for four seasons (2015-18) Olympic gold-medal winner Dain Blanton served as the team’s volunteer assistant coach. Blanton won beach volleyball gold in the 2000 Sydney Games with partner . Fonoimoana was the team’s volunteer assistant for the 2019 season. In 2015, Blanton replaced the Trojans’ former assistant Misty May-Treanor, who was a three-time Olympic gold-medal winner on the sand herself. In 2017, Gustavo Rocha joined the staff following a stint at Pepperdine as the Waves’ volunteer assistant coach. Rocha has also served as an assistant to Marcio Sicoli (now Pepperdine’s head coach), who coached Olympic gold medalists May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh-Jennings.
