Willowbrook 2014 Carneros Chardonnay Displays Complex Aromas of Pineapple, Honey and Subtle Alcohol Vanilla www.willowbrookcellars.com About Willowbrook Cellars Back in 1995, after falling in love with northern California’s beautiful wine country, Joe Otos decided to follow his heart and switch careers in order to learn the winemaking trade alongside the renowned Chris Loxton of Wellington Vineyards. Soon proving his talent, Joe was becoming a sought-after up and coming winemaker, making his own small lot wines from local grapes. In 2001 he formed Willowbrook Cellars alongside retired technology entrepreneur John Tracy and retired sales executive Ed Sillari, both of whom had recently moved to Sonoma County to pursue their passion for wine. Early on, using all the fruit from a premium hilltop vineyard John and his wife Deborah were farming, Willowbrook’s production was only about 500 cases, split between Russian River Pinot noir and Chardonnay. The wines were successful. In 2003, Joe began seeking out other small high-quality vineyards in the area, each with its own microclimate and distinctive flavor profiles. This exploration resulted in Willowbrook beginning to produce other varieties such as its Zinfandel and Syrah. It also led to a celebrated long-term collaboration with the renowned Kaufman Sunnyslope vineyard on Sonoma Mountain – producing our acclaimed vineyard-designated wine of the same name. Today, Willowbrook remains unchanged. Splitting his time between the cellar and vineyards, Joe continues to source premium fruit from some of wine country’s most respected grape growers - producing wines which are now gaining national attention. Our Estate Pinot noir is still made solely with fruit from John and Deborah’s vineyard and Joe’s wines are now well-recognized award winners. We invite you to taste Joe’s work crafting premium wines from some of the region’s most prestigious vineyards. Willowbrook Cellars Estate Vineyard Burnside Road winds through the picturesque Russian River Valley appellation. Dotted with orchards, family farms and secluded dwellings, it boasts some of northern California’s most prized Pinot noir plantings. It is here that our Estate vineyard is located. We have farmed this site outside Sebastopol since 2001, getting to know the land and its micro-climates as each vintage passes. A picturesque three acre site planted to clones 115, Calera and Swan, this cool-climate vineyard benefits from a remarkably long growing season of warm days offset by seasonal fog intruding from the coast at night. This allows the fruit to hang longer, developing depth and richness but maintaining a focused acidity, rarely exceeding 23 brix. We generally pick in the middle of the night to ensure the grapes reach the winery cold and in prime condition. The four separate blocks each require individual attention and the grapes often ripen at different times, giving winemaker Joe Otos ample options to create his layered and complex Pinots. Willowbrook Cellars Kaufman Sunnyslope Vineyard Planted to grapevines in 1994 (originally Merlot but soon after grafted to Pinot noir), this six acre parcel sits on the cooler north side of the prestigious Sonoma Mountain AVA. Owned by Jim and Sue Kaufman, Willowbrook has been producing single vineyard wines from this renowned site since 2008. It is planted to two clones, of which Willowbrook takes the Dijon 777 clone. This beautiful hillside vineyard, with impressive views, benefits from consistent daytime sunshine but with heat moderated by the influence of the marine layer coming through the Petaluma Gap, allowing the fruit to develop fully with little risk of sunburn, producing consistently ripe brix, low pH and excellent skin color: Willowbrook’s Kaufman Sunnyslope Pinots have great aging potential and long finishes. Willowbrook Cellars 2013 Pinot noir Estate Vineyard Russian River Valley Enjoying daytime heat but cooled by fog from the Appellation Pacific by night, our picturesque Estate vineyard is Russian River Valley located along winding Burnside Road, deep in the Russian River Valley appellation. These days, for Napa-quality Zin at 1990s Napa-level price tags, the place to look is Lake County, and more specifically at the mountain-grown vines of one of the county’s newest appellations, the aptly named High Valley AVA. High Valley Vineyard is the secret-weapon, mile-high label of Shannon Ridge. And Shannon Ridge is one of Lake County’s best wineries. Owners Clay and Margarita Shannon are deeply committed to the environment and to sustaining the region’s substantial natural resources—the estate is home to a flock of sheep, which help to thin the canopy while providing…ahem… natural fertilizer. These guys are changing the face of Lake County wine production. Their 2015 Zin, sourced from two certified California Sustainable vineyards is loaded with spice and deeply ripened forest berries, with big tannins that seem to melt into the long, sweet finish. Drink with a barbeque of brisket or carnitas. *As lovers of cats and all animals, invino neither practices nor condones the swinging of cats Four reasons we love it: ● True to its name, the High Valley AVA soars up to 3,000 feet in elevation amid the coastal ranges of California’s Lake County. ● This 2015 Zin is sourced from Round Mountain and Terre Vermielle vineyards—two of High Valley’s best for the varietal.

As was the case with most Argentine families, wine was a part of the evening meal for him from an early age. When he was twelve, the family moved to Santa Barbara, California and young Fred Brander discovered a particular penchant for chemistry - he even had his own chemistry set before entering high school. After graduating from the research-oriented Harvey Mudd College in 1973 in Claremont, Fred returned to Santa Barbara and began developing a plan for his life that included grapes and wines. He talked his family into investing in a 40-acre plot of land located in the Santa Ynez Valley where he proposed to grow grapes. The area was practically unknown as a grape producing region, but Fred was undaunted in his belief that the Santa Ynez Valley, and in particular the area known as Los Olivos, was capable of supporting varietals from the great Bordeaux region of France. The first vines were planted in 1975 as the Brander Vineyard, making the spot majorone of winethe oldest competition.

In 1985, the original winery, a converted dairy barn, gave way to a modern winemaking facility and since that time the Estate's Bennett Valley vineyards have grown to include over 280-acres of Chardonnay, Merlot and Syrah. Vineyard acquisitions in Sonoma Valley, Carneros, Russian River Valley and Knights Valley provide the vineyard management and winemaking teams with an enviable selection of fruit. Sourced from Estate-owned vineyards, the Matanzas Creek wine portfolio includes Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Merlot, as well as a limited amount of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. As important as the history of the winery itself is its location in Sonoma County's newest American Viticultural Area (AVA), Bennett Valley. Although only formally recognized as an AVA in December 2003, Bennett Valley has a rich history of grape growing dating back to the mid-1800s. Once defined as part of Sonoma County's Sonoma Valley and Sonoma Mountain AVA's, Bennett Valley overlaps with these winegrowing regions but carves out 8,150 acres to call its own (of which 850 acres are planted with grapevines). Three mountains define Bennett Valley and also serve to capture a cool maritime air stream which promotes a cooler, longer growing season that results in more complex wines.

HIGHLAND FINE WINE MARCH 2015 HALF CASE CLUB - WHITE Can Feixes Blanco Seleccio 2013 – Penedes DO, Spain (Mixed & White Club) $17.99 Can Feixes is on of the most historic wineries in Penedes, if not all of Spain. The estate was founded in 1768 and purchased by the Huguet family at the turn of the 20th century. The land has been producing wine grapes since the 15th century. The winery is on the highest elevation in Penedes. At 1400 feet above sea level, the climate is more continental in nature and has large swings from daytime to nighttime temperatures. The gravelly slopes of the vineyard are ideal for drainage of the vines and help to produce ripe, mature grapes. Made with organically certified grapes, the grapes in the blend are the common Cava grapes of Paralleda (known in Penedes as Montonec), Macabeo, Chardonnay, and some Malvasia de sites. Flavors of intense lemon, firm structure and !a stony minerality make this wine a great accompaniment with any shellfish dish. Lagaria Pinot Grigio 2013 – Delle Venezie, IGT (Mixed & White Club) $11.99 This Pinot Grigio is situated on SW facing vineyards of the Lagarina Valley, south of Trento and northeast of Lake Garda. The valley’s privileged position as the hub of warm air currents from the lake and cold ones from the Dolomite Mountains means great diurnal temperature swings. Grapes are handpicked and de-stemmed before pressing. This well balanced wine has pleasant white floral aromas with flavors of white peach, dried !apricots and bosc pear. Enjoy this wine salmon, fried fish, or charcuterie.
