Download Tasting Notes Retail Savings $14.99 $36.00 58% 2011 Kenwood Zinfandel Reserveproduct-timed-pdf - Sonoma County, California Why We're Drinking It Sold out at the winery, and only produced in the best years, this Reserve Zin is packed with jammy, juicy ripe fruit and exemplifies the massive, bold yet somehow still wonderfully balanced style that defines the best Zins from Sonoma County. Kenwood is pretty much a household name, especially when it comes to Zin, and this historic Sonoma winery deserves much of the credit for the popularity of quality Zinfandel today. While many of Kenwood’s releases can hardly be considered small production or boutique, their Reserve Zin is made in quite limited amounts and only in those vintages that warrant it. The 2011 vintage was spectacular for Zin, as evidenced in this broad-shouldered, super juicy red. Spicy, with a judicious note of herbs and floral aromatics, the 2011 Reserve was aged over 20 long months in a combination of French (62%) and American (38%) oak and includes a small amount of Syrah for added grip. The wine is drinking at its absolute peak right now and makes a delectable match for slow-cooked red meats, barbecued pork ribs or pasta tossed in a red sauce. Reasons why we love it: Kenwood’s roots stretch all the way back to 1906, when Pagani Brothers Winery opened up shop in what is today Kenwood’s home. Since 1970 Kenwood has turned out vintage after vintage of great wines released always at reasonable prices. For this Reserve Zinfandel winemaker Pat Henderson selected one barrel at a time (including the addition of 3% Syrah) from the best lots of Kenwood’s 2011 harvest. The source fruit came from three premier appellations for high-quality Zin: Alexander Valley, Dry Creek Valley and Lake County’s High Valley AVA. While the rains that hit during the 2011 harvest had a seriously negative effect on tough-to- ripen varieties like Pinot Noir, the Zinfandel grape did beautifully all over Sonoma County in 2011, showing ideal levels of ripeness and lots of plush, silky red fruit. Tasting Notes VARIETAL Fruity aromas of raspberry and fig combine with subtle notes of vanilla and Zinfandel white pepper. Delicate well-structured tannins provide an elegant mouth feel ALCOHOL and a long finish. 14.50 SIZE 750ml BLEND Zinfandel The Story to Know Ideally located in Sonoma Valley, Kenwood® Vineyards - from its very first vintage - has been committed to producing premium varietal wines that reflect Sonoma County's finest vineyards in their character and style. Kenwood Vineyards was founded in 1970 when wine enthusiasts from the San Francisco Bay Area refurbished and modernized the former Pagani Brothers Winery, originally established in 1906. The winery produces classic varietal wines: Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Zinfandel, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon and has earned the reputation of producing consistent, quality wines. Kenwood Vineyards sits on a beautiful, twenty-two acre-producing estate. The winery also produces wines from fruit sourced from some of Sonoma County’s best vineyards. Using the “Cuvèe” winemaking method, the harvest from each vineyard is handled separately to preserve its individuality and true character. Such “small lot” winemaking allows our winemaker to bring each lot of wine to its fullest potential. True to history, the winery is housed in the original winery buildings. Inside, the winery has been redesigned with winemaking versatility in mind. More than 125 stainless steel fermenting and upright oak tanks are used in combination with 14,000 French and American Oak barrels, giving the winemaker ?exibility and diversity in production. With hard work and dedication to quality, over the past forty years, this winery has earned a reputation for crafting wines that offer consistent high quality and outstanding value. Perfect Pairings The wine is drinking at its absolute peak right now and makes a delectable match for slow-cooked red meats, barbecued pork ribs or pasta tossed in a red sauce..

2015 Shannon Ridge Zinfandelproduct-pdf - High Valley, Lake County - 93 WE | Napa's Secret High-Elevation Neighbor Why We're Drinking It When invino’s founders first entered the wine industry, you couldn’t swing a cat* in Napa Valley without hitting on an awesome value in boutique Zinfandel. These days, for Napa-quality Zin at 1990s Napa-level price tags, the place to look is Lake County, and more specifically at the mountain-grown vines of one of the county’s newest appellations, the aptly named High Valley AVA. High Valley Vineyard is the secret-weapon, mile-high label of Shannon Ridge. And Shannon Ridge is one of Lake County’s best wineries. Owners Clay and Margarita Shannon are deeply committed to the environment and to sustaining the region’s substantial natural resources—the estate is home to a flock of sheep, which help to thin the canopy while providing…ahem… natural fertilizer. These guys are changing the face of Lake County wine production. Their 2015 Zin, sourced from two certified California Sustainable vineyards is loaded with spice and deeply ripened forest berries, with big tannins that seem to melt into the long, sweet finish. Drink with a barbeque of brisket or carnitas. *As lovers of cats and all animals, invino neither practices nor condones the swinging of cats Four reasons we love it: ● True to its name, the High Valley AVA soars up to 3,000 feet in elevation amid the coastal ranges of California’s Lake County. ● This 2015 Zin is sourced from Round Mountain and Terre Vermielle vineyards—two of High Valley’s best for the varietal.

Brander Vineyard + Winery and High Valley Vineyard A duo of iconic family wineries committed to sustainability, the reputable Brander Vineyard & Winery and High Valley Vineyard craft small-lots of terroir-driven, award-winning estate wines. Santa Barbara County BranderBorn of anVineyard American mother& Winery, and Argentine father, Fred Brander lived the early part of his life in Buenos Aires where his family operated an import/export company. As was the case with most Argentine families, wine was a part of the evening meal for him from an early age. When he was twelve, the family moved to Santa Barbara, California and young Fred Brander discovered a particular penchant for chemistry - he even had his own chemistry set before entering high school. After graduating from the research-oriented Harvey Mudd College in 1973 in Claremont, Fred returned to Santa Barbara and began developing a plan for his life that included grapes and wines. He talked his family into investing in a 40-acre plot of land located in the Santa Ynez Valley where he proposed to grow grapes. The area was practically unknown as a grape producing region, but Fred was undaunted in his belief that the Santa Ynez Valley, and in particular the area known as Los Olivos, was capable of supporting varietals from the great Bordeaux region of France. The first vines were planted in 1975 as the Brander Vineyard, making the spot majorone of winethe oldest competition.

! HIGHLAND FINE WINE MARCH 2015 HALF CASE CLUB - WHITE Can Feixes Blanco Seleccio 2013 – Penedes DO, Spain (Mixed & White Club) $17.99 Can Feixes is on of the most historic wineries in Penedes, if not all of Spain. The estate was founded in 1768 and purchased by the Huguet family at the turn of the 20th century. The land has been producing wine grapes since the 15th century. The winery is on the highest elevation in Penedes. At 1400 feet above sea level, the climate is more continental in nature and has large swings from daytime to nighttime temperatures. The gravelly slopes of the vineyard are ideal for drainage of the vines and help to produce ripe, mature grapes. Made with organically certified grapes, the grapes in the blend are the common Cava grapes of Paralleda (known in Penedes as Montonec), Macabeo, Chardonnay, and some Malvasia de sites. Flavors of intense lemon, firm structure and !a stony minerality make this wine a great accompaniment with any shellfish dish. Lagaria Pinot Grigio 2013 – Delle Venezie, IGT (Mixed & White Club) $11.99 This Pinot Grigio is situated on SW facing vineyards of the Lagarina Valley, south of Trento and northeast of Lake Garda. The valley’s privileged position as the hub of warm air currents from the lake and cold ones from the Dolomite Mountains means great diurnal temperature swings. Grapes are handpicked and de-stemmed before pressing. This well balanced wine has pleasant white floral aromas with flavors of white peach, dried !apricots and bosc pear. Enjoy this wine salmon, fried fish, or charcuterie.
