That quickly changed. With props to KROQ who posted this online, here are 10 top things you may not know about them:

.) The Band Met While Studying At The Same School That Also Produced Some Other Top Acts It seems that the Elliot School in Putney Heath, which is a suburb in Greater , puts out some great acts. Along with the XX forming here, other notable talents that have emerged from this school include actor , the indie-electronic band , and others.

.) It Took The Band 4 Years To Put Out Their Debut Album Although the band met and formed in 2005, the group only released their critically acclaimed self-titled album 4 years later in August 2009.

.) The XX Have Been Known To Claim Influences From A Wide & Varying Range Of Artists From pop star to 60’s and 70’s rockstar and , and others, The XX have claimed that these artists have had a big influence on their music

.) The Band Had A 4th Member While many see The XX with members Romy Madley Croft, Oliver Sim and , there was a past member. Baria Qureshi, who was the only other female member of the band, was apparently kicked out of the group right as the band was taking off in 2009. Mentioned in a publication released when The XX’s second album “Coexist” was published, Qureshi was a schoolmate of theirs. There is no explanation as to why she left or was kicked out of the band though. Some have attributed it to fatigue though.

.) Most Of Their Music Is Made At Night With a dark sound, it should come as no surprise that most of their music has been made in the later hours of the day. The XX recorded their debut album in a small garage mostly at night, which helped give it that dark nature. It gave it a dark quality, according to Madley-Croft in a Guardian interview. The album was created in XL Studios in Notting Hill.

.) Burglars Broke Into XL Studios When They Were Recording Their First Album Creating an album by night has its advantages, and apparently disadvantages, too. Producing the album at night has given the XX their signature sound, but apparently robbers broke in one night. But, the robbery was cut short when Jamie Smith (better known as Jamie xx), emerged not knowing what was even going on.

.) Although The XX Is A Three Person Band, Jamie Smith Has Quite A Solo Career James Thomas “Jamie” Smith is better known as Jamie xx, or the third member of The XX, but he has quote a solo career as an English , remixer, and DJ, who works on his own solo acts. You’ll often hear singer Romy Croft, but most of his work is his own. So, if you need a bit of new music from The XX’s official albums, listen to Jamie XX and it sounds pretty similar!

.) TV Loves The XX Music from The XX’s debut self titled album has been used extensively on some of TV’s top shows, including 24/7, Person Of Interest, Suits, Cold Case, 90210, Hung, Next Top Model, and others. It was even used during the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, as well as the UEFA Euro 2012 and EUFA Euro 2016 football matches. Other programs include Top Gear.

.) In March Of 2014, The XX Played A 10 Night Secret Residency If you were lucky enough to know about it, it turns out that in March of 2014, The XX played a secret residency at The Park Avenue Armory in New York City. While the band usually performs for tens of thousands of people each night, they performed for just a few dozen lucky folks. The tickets cost just $50. They played for almost an hour.

.) The Band Made Their Lyrics Purposefully Ambiguous When one doesn’t want someone else to know who they are singing about, they tend to purposefully make wording am- biguous. That is exactly what Romy and Oliver Sim set out to do as they did not want their friends or family to know what the songs were about. - Originally posted on KROQ.com, 11/22/16 RIGHT ARM RESOURCE WEEKLY UPDATE - 11/23/2016
