That quickly changed. With props to KROQ who posted this online, here are 10 top things you may not know about them: 1.) The Band Met While Studying At The Same School That Also Produced Some Other Top Acts It seems that the Elliot School in Putney Heath, which is a suburb in Greater London, puts out some great acts. Along with the XX forming here, other notable talents that have emerged from this school include actor Pierce Brosnan, the indie-electronic band Hot Chip, and others. 2.) It Took The Band 4 Years To Put Out Their Debut Album Although the band met and formed in 2005, the group only released their critically acclaimed self-titled album 4 years later in August 2009. 3.) The XX Have Been Known To Claim Influences From A Wide & Varying Range Of Artists From pop star Mariah Carey to 60’s and 70’s rockstar Jimi Hendrix and The Kills, The Cure and others, The XX have claimed that these artists have had a big influence on their music 4.) The Band Had A 4th Member While many see The XX with members Romy Madley Croft, Oliver Sim and Jamie xx, there was a past member.

    The Music Column That Wouldn’t Die: New Album Reviews. I told myself I was over this, that I had retired from the world of music reviews. I had moved onto bigger and better things (mostly staring at the wall and wondering why nobody calls me anymore). Yet here I am, a mere few months after burning my bridges, giving up on new music and making a world of enemies, back in the game. Did I miss the constant abuse, the being paid in soiled pennies and the lack of recognition which writing this unremembered column entailed? Funnily enough, I did! It was listening to the post punk genius of the new Dry Cleaning record that did it. I thought to myself ‘someone has to take it upon themselves to tell the world just how good this album is’. After a moment of quiet reflection where I drank a glass of lukewarm Ribena to calm the nerves, I decided that that person may as well be me. By JOHN BITTLES So, here we are. Everyone’s getting ready to jockey for a good seat because this is Saturday night and Sat- urday night at Albert Music Hall means one thing: old-time country music. “We’re about a whole lot of warm feeling and fun,” says Elaine Everett of the Pinelands Cultural Society, which manages the music hall. “It reflects the hands-on nature and cooperation of a bunch of people getting together to have a good time, play music and pay homage to the unique heritage of the Pinelands region.” Often called “the Grand Ole Opry of New Jersey,” Albert Music Hall was designed to look “like the porch of a cabin in the woods” and is decorated with musical instruments, farm tools, vintage quilts and other period memorabilia. You(Tube), Me, and Content ID PAVING THE WAY FOR COMPULSORY SYNCHRONIZATION LICENSING ON USER- GENERATED CONTENT PLATFORMS INTRODUCTION Ever wonder about how the law regulates your cousin’s wedding video posted on her YouTube account? Most consumers do not ponder questions such as “Who owns the content in my video?” or “What is a fair use?” or “Did I obtain the proper permission to use Bruno Mars’s latest single as the backing track to my video?” These are important questions of law that are answered each day on YouTube1 by a system called Content ID.2 Content ID identifies uses of audio and visual works uploaded to YouTube3 and allows rights holders to collect advertising revenue on that content through the YouTube Partner Program.4 It is easy to see why Content ID was implemented—300 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube per minute.5 Over six billion hours of video are watched each month on YouTube (almost an hour for every person on earth),6 and it is unquestionably the most popular streaming video site on the Internet.7 Because of the staggering amount of content 1 See A Guide to YouTube Removals,ELECTRONIC fRONTIER fOUND., https://www.eff.org/issues/intellectual-property/guide-to-youtube-removals [http://perma.cc/ BF4Y-PW6E] (last visited June 6, 2016).
