Vol.22No. 4(October-December2015 October - December 2015 Research & News Bulletin SDC & SAES Special Vol 22 No. 4 Introduction to the Eighteenth Sustainable Development Conference (SDC) and Eighth South Asia Economic Summit (SAES) 7 – 10 December 2015 The two events, SDPI's Eighteenth Sustainable The Eighth South Asia Economic Summit (SAES), the Development Conference (SDC); and, Eighth South Asia premier regional platform for debate and analysis of Economic Summit (SAES), were held from 7 – 10 December politico-socio-economic issues and problems facing South 2015 at the Marriott Hotel, Islamabad. The mega events Asia, brought together stakeholders to review and reect hosted a total of 225 panellists of which 152 were from current issues facing of the South Asian countries. The Pakistan and 73 from 16 other countries. Panellists came overarching theme of the SAES was “Regional Cooperation from Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Canada, for Sustainable Development in South Asia”. Germany, India, Italy, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey, UK and the USA. A total of 3,422 audience attended the sessions of the four- day mega events consisting of 4 plenary sessions (SAES' The Eighteenth SDC titled “Securing Peace and Prosperity” opening plenary on 7 December 2015; SDC's opening was a thinkers' agenda, a gathering of regional think tanks plenary on 8 December 2015; dinner plenary on 9 December working closely with policy makers of their respective 2015; and, SDC's closing plenary on 10 December 2015) and countries and representatives of existing and potential 36 concurrent sessions. SAES opening plenary was attended SAARC member countries; a congregation of visionaries in by an audience of 294; SDC's opening plenary by 285; dinner Islamabad. SDPI's Eighteenth SDC focused on plenary by 546; and, closing plenary by 321. The rst day's understanding regional integration and the attempt of total audience consisted of 669 persons; second day 747; SAARC countries at various forums recently to establish third day 1200; and, the nal day 806. new corridors to achieve sustainable development in the region and beyond. SDPI was host to a number of prominent personalities during the Eighteenth SDC and Eighth SAES.     Title Page Research and Analysis Centre - a UNODC and FIA Collaboration UNODC's program on illicit trafficking and border management (Sub-Program1) enhances the core capacities of Pakistan's law enforcement agencies to reduce illicit trafficking and manage borders primarily through the provision of specialized training and equipment. Law enforcement agencies struggle to interdict trafficking and smuggling of various kinds and scales, which poses a challenge to the governance, development, and security of the country. In January 2014 a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between UNODC COPAK and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to establish a Research and Analysis Centre at FIA Headquarters in Islamabad. The purpose of this initiative was to enhance legal, regulatory, and enforcement frameworks on human trafficking and migrant smuggling. It added to knowledge and skills within the migration-related law enforcement agencies and improved information collection, analysis, and coordination of migration-related crimes. The Research and Analysis Centre (RAC) was officially inaugurated on 1 May 2014. Currently three researchers from UNODC and two from the FIA have been placed at the Centre, with necessary equipment and software provided by UNODC. The findings of this report are based on research conducted at RAC over the past year. The deceased was struck by seven bullets in different parts of the body. Nine bullet shells of a 9mm pistol were recovered from the scene of the crime. According to police, the deceased was called to the location through a phone call. They said the late KMC employee was on his motorcycle waiting for someone. Two unidentified men killed him by opening fire at him at Hussainabad, near Okhai Memon Masjid, in the limits of Azizabad police station. L-72 Sector 5C 4, North Karachi, and worked as a clerk in KMC‘s engineering department. Rangers and police officials reached the scene after receiving information of the incident. They recovered nine bullet shells of a 9mm pistol and have begun investigating the incident. This reform was aimed at converting the PSP from an instrument of coercive government to a force responsive to and protective of the citizenry. It constituted, as its introduction explicitly stated, a significant move toward democratic consolidation in Pakistan. PO 2002 was introduced nationwide on 14 August 2002 with wide support from Pakistani elites and under the direction of the autocratic but reform-oriented government of General Pervez Musharraf. Syeda Viquar un Nisa Hashmi spearheaded the whole study under the guidance of Senator Dr. S. M. Zafar, former Federal Minister for Law & Human Rights. The Hon’ble Federal Ombudsman provided full support which evolved intensive interaction with relevant government agencies, victims and their families. Qureshi) Sr. Advisor / National Commissioner for Children ii Executive Summary The menace of sexual abuse against children is a serious global issue and Pakistan is no exception. Globally 246 million girls and boys experience school-related sexual violence every year. In Pakistan 4,139 such cases had been reported in 2017. This includes 1,089 cases in Punjab, ranking it highest amongst provinces in the country. The official statistics of the last one decade reflect 272 incidents of sexual offence against minors in Kasur, with steady increase in offences from 6.2 percent in 2008 to 16.2 percent in 2017. These incidents have life-long adverse effect on the lives of the surviving victims and their families and cumulatively on the future of Nation. Taking cognizance of the serious violation of child rights in Kasur, the Office of National Commissioner for Children, working under the Wafaqi Mohtasib (Ombudsman)’s Secretariat initiated this research study.
