Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2006-262 Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2006-262 Ottawa, 23 June 2006 Transitional digital radio programming undertakings Across Canada Administrative renewals 1. The Commission renews the broadcasting licences for the transitional digital radio programming undertakings set out in the appendix to this decision, from 1 September 2006 to 31 August 2007, subject to the terms and conditions in effect under the current licences. 2. This licence term will permit the Commission to consider the renewals of these undertakings in the light of possible amendments to its Transitional Digital Radio policy. Changes to the policy have been proposed by participants in the Commission’s wider review of its policies regarding commercial radio. The Commission expects to publish its determinations regarding its radio policies at a later date. 3. A number of the undertakings have not yet commenced operations, as indicated in the appendix. The existing deadlines for these undertakings to commence operations are hereby extended until 31 August 2007. 4. This decision does not dispose of any substantive issue that may exist with respect to the renewal of these licences and interested parties will have an opportunity to comment at the appropriate time. Various commercial radio programming undertakings – Licence renewals 1. The Commission renews the broadcasting licences for the radio programming undertakings set out in Appendix 1 to this decision from 1 January 20141 to 31 August 2020. The terms and conditions of licence for each station are set out in the appropriate appendices. 2. The Commission received interventions in support of these applications, as well as an intervention commenting on several of these applications, submitted on behalf of the province of British Columbia, relating to the participation of the stations in its jurisdiction in the National Public Alerting System (NPAS). The public record for this proceeding is available on the Commission’s website at www.crtc.gc.ca under “Public Proceedings.” 3. As specified in its three-year plan, the Commission will be looking at measures to ensure the participation of Canadian broadcasters and telecommunications service providers in the NPAS. Therefore, the Commission will not impose conditions of licence requiring the participation of broadcasters in the NPAS at this time. However, the Commission expects all licensees to voluntarily participate in the NPAS so that Canadians receive timely warnings of imminent perils. CISS-FM Ottawa’s previous non-compliance 4. In Broadcasting Decision 2010-427, the Commission renewed CISS-FM Ottawa’s licence for a short-term period of three years, given the station’s non-compliance with its conditions of licence relating to Canadian talent development contributions.

BACKGROUND HISTORY of COLLECTION This collection contains mostly photographs as well as some papers and ephemera of Toby David during his career in radio and television spanning from 1935 to 1964. David was born in New Bern, North Carolina, on September 22, 1914, and moved to the Detroit area with his family in the mid-1920s. He attended Ford Trade School in Highland Park before getting a job at Chrysler where he performed in their amateur talent shows. His first radio job was at CKLW in Windsor, Ontario, on The Early Morning Frolic beginning in 1935. In 1940, David moved to Washington, D.C., with Larry Marino. Together, they were a comedy duo known as The Kibitzers. While in D.C. during World War II, David organized Treasury bond shows, entertained servicemen, and emceed President Roosevelt’s birthday celebrations three years in a row.

    Sheigra DXpedition Report 12 th to 25 th October 2019 - with Dave Kenny & Alan Pennington This was the 58th DXpedition to Sheigra in Sutherland on the far north western tip of the Scottish mainland, just south of Cape Wrath. DXers made the first long drive up here in 1979, so this we guess, was the 40 th anniversary? And the DXers who first made the trip to Sheigra in 1979 to listen to MW would probably notice little change here today: the single-track road ending in the same cluster of cottages, the cemetery besides the track towards the sea and, beyond that, the machair in front of Sheigra’s sandy bay. And surrounding Sheigra, the wild windswept hillsides, lochans and rocky cliffs pounded by the Atlantic. (You can read reports on our 18 most recent Sheigra DXpeditions on the BDXC website here: http://bdxc.org.uk/articles.html ) Below: Sheigra from the north: Arkle and Ben Stack the mountains on the horizon. Once again we made Murdo’s traditional crofter’s cottage our DX base. From here our long wire Beverage aerials can radiate out across the hillsides towards the sea and the Americas to the west and north west, and eastwards towards Asia, parallel to the old, and now very rough, peat track which continues on north east into the open moors after the tarmac road ends at Sheigra. right: Dave earths the Caribbean Beverage. The only other significant damage was sustained by an addition to a shopping mil. The purpose of thfs study is to chart the activities cf various relevant organ- izations with reepect to the warning phase of the tornado threat. In order to accom- plish this task it wLll be necessary to analyze the nature of the relationships between: 1) the IS. S. Weather Bureau and the Canadian Weather Bureau (both its Toronto and Wtndsor offices), 2) the Windsor Weather Bureau and the Local EMO, 3) Local EM0 and the media and various emergency relevant organizations and 4) the Canadian Weather Bureau, the U.S. Weather Bureau and the media. U.S. Weather Service-Canadian Weather Service Windsor, Ontario has a weather office staffed with weather technicians. Since it has no meteorologists on staff, it receives the weather bulletins, whish it re- leases from the weather office in Toronto, some 250 miles away. Toronto determines its weather forecasts for the Windsor-Essex County region in part from data it re- ceives from the Detroit Weather Office.
