2 23RD ANNUAL SMITHERS CELEBRITY GOLF TOURNAMENT Message from the Chairmen

On behalf of the board of directors of the Smithers Celebrity Golf Tournament & Hockey Game we would like to welcome all guests, sponsors, and celebrities to our event. This year marks 23 years we have hosted this event and we are pleased to have partnered with the Bulkley Valley Health Care & Hospital Foundation again this year. In 2011, initiated by the tireless work of Jo Ann Groves, a group of community members felt the need to form a local health care foundation. With the phasing out of traditionally organized local hospitals, long-term care facilities and medical centres, the management of local facilities had been transferred to regional health care councils with government appointed boards. In creating a local foundation, the focus would be to raise funds and act as a conduit for com- munity members who would like to make philanthropic donations to local health care facilities and initiatives within the Bulkley Valley. With this in mind, Jo Ann and ten other Directors formed a society in the summer of 2012. On August 14, 2013 the Bulkley Valley Health Care and Hospital Foundation was officially incorporated, and has since become a registered charity. In 2013, from the generous donations and sponsorships we received at the Smithers Celebrity Golf Tournament & Hockey Game we were able to donate $80,000 to the Bulkley Valley Hospital & Health Care Foundation. From those funds the BVHHCF purchased a new digitizer, which allows the Bulkley Valley Regional Hospital to send x-rays to specialists for patient diagnosis, saving lives and unnecessary travel costs. The BVHHCF were also able to purchase additional cribs for the maternity ward. This year our donation through the BVHHCF will be going toward the redesign and reconstruction of the Bulkley Valley District Hospital’s existing maternity ward. This will add more private rooms for patients and their families. This new facility will benefit many people in Smithers and the surrounding communities who use our Hospital. In closing we would like to say, none of this would be possible without the generous support of our sponsors and the donation of time and memorabilia by our celebrities. Thank-you. J.C. Brown & Kent Delwisch

3 23RD ANNUAL SMITHERS CELEBRITY GOLF TOURNAMENT Tournament Rules

1. Each team will consist of five players. 2. When the horn sounds (-gun), the “A” teams will play first followed by the “B” teams when the fairway or green is clear. Note! Please maintain a reasonable speed of play. Try to keep up with the team in front of yours. 3. All players tee off at each hole. A. Women hit from the yellow tee blocks B. Men hit from the white tee blocks 4. The team then selects the best drive and the player whose ball has been chosen marks the position (within 12 inches) with a tee (not nearer the hole). A. A minimum of two tee shots per player must be used. B. Scorecards must note whose tee shot was chosen on each hole. C. Golf balls can be placed within 12 inches on closely mown areas if the chosen ball in play is in the fairway. D. Golf balls must be dropped within 12 inches if the chosen ball in play is in the rough or a hazard. (i.e.: If the chosen ball in play is in the rough, players must play from the rough) 5. The above method of play is followed until the green is reached. Each time, all players get to shoot from the chosen location, even the player whose tee shot was selected. 6. On the green the ball chosen is marked within a putter head length and players putt from the same spot in turn. 7. Each player must mark their ball after putting. Play continues from each chosen position until the ball is holed. 8. Each pin will be marked with black tape 30” from the bottom of the flag. Any ball within this diameter from the hole is considered a ‘gimme.’ Team is not required to make that putt but it does count as a stroke. 9. The score is the total number of shots from the chosen spots (including the tee shot). At the end of the round the total for each hole is added together, the sum being the Team’s final score. The team score- card is to be turned in to registration at the clubhouse. 10. Mulligans may be used as required if purchased at the clubhouse prior to com- mencement of the Tournament. A Mulligan can only be used by the person who purchased it and cannot be used to claim a prize (i.e.: hole-in-one, KP etc.) To make use of a Mulligan, the player must state and present to their team, a Mulli- gan voucher. The Player must record their name and the hole # on the back of the Mulligan voucher upon use and turn it in with their scorecard upon completion of the round. 11. In the event of a final score tie between two or more teams, a count-back from the 18th hole will apply with the highest score first taking precedent. The count- back includes every team sharing the overall score over the 18 holes of the event. Comparing scores counting back from hole number 18, any team whose score is less than the largest amount on a hole by hole basis is eliminated. The process continues until only one team remains. 12. All other rules of golf apply to the “Ball in Play”

4 23RD ANNUAL SMITHERS CELEBRITY GOLF TOURNAMENT Calcutta Rules

1. As we are playing a one day tournament with teams having five players each, all teams will be grouped based on a formulat- ed “average” of your team member’s handicaps. The handicaps from the entire field of golfers will be divided by the number of teams and each team will be grouped according to that average. 2. On Friday evening, we will post all teams prior to the Team Auction. 3. With this information, people bid, auction style on the team who they think will post the best score (you can bid on your own team and / or other teams at your preference). The highest bidder will become the owner of that team. 4. As the owner of a team, there is no obligation to sell any percentage of your team to anyone else; team member or group. It is your option to sell any portion of the team to anyone else. You control 100% ownership of that team and are responsible for 100% of the payment of that team prior to tee off (9:30am Saturday, August 15th). If the purchase price is not paid in full prior to this time, the Celebrity Golf Tournament will retain the rights to this team and any winnings will go to the Charity. 5. All the money raised through the “auction” goes into the pot. At the end of the tournament, the owners of the teams that posted the best scores get a pre-determined payout from the auction pool. 6. The Smithers Celebrity Golf Tournament will donate 30% of the Team Auction total to Charity with the remaining 70% to go into the auction prize pool. 7. Payouts will be given as follows: A. 1st Place 40% B. 2nd Place 25% C. 3rd Place 20% D. 4th Place 10% E. 5th Place 5% 8. The cash payout amount will be determined by the final auction amount at the end of Friday evening’s events. This means the more bids there are, the higher the payout! 9. There will be no Countbacks for placing. In the event of a tie, payouts will be split amongst those teams. For example; if there is a tie between two teams for 3rd place, the payout for 3rd and 4th will be combined (25%) and split amongst those two teams (12.5% each). If there is a tie for 5th Place, the 5% payout will be equally distributed between those teams. 10. There is a $200 dollar minimum for each team, and every team will be auctioned off. If no one bids on a team, the team will be retained by the Tournament Committee, and if that team wins, the Charity gets the proceeds.
