NMFN SCHOLARSHIP NEWS

We will be conducting a season long raffle to raise funds for the NMFN Scholarship and NMFN Legends Scholarship. Tickets are $5 or five for $20 and will be sold throughout the season. You need not be present to win. Over $1,300.00 was raised via the raffle last year thanks to your support. $3,000 was donated to the University by NMFN during the last fiscal year.

The endowed value of the NMFN Scholarship fund is currently about $23,000. In addition to the amount annually available from the endowed fund the NMFN group contributes another $500 each year. Annual award value changes somewhat but is about $1,300 per year.

NMFN Legends Scholarship is a relatively new scholarship. NMFN contributes $1000 to the scholarship which will be matched by the Office of the Chancellor making the scholarship award to the student $2000.

Both of these scholarships have first preference to graduate of a high school. The Legends Scholarship is awarded to a freshman and the NMFN Scholarship can go to any grade level and can be received more than once. Award is handled by the Admissions Office at UNL.

This year we have the following raffle items (this not a final list):

A Nebraska quilt donated and made by NMFN member Sue Clark. Sue has donated a number of quilts to the raffle and they are coveted by each winner. This quilt is one of a kind and is priceless. The quilt is made from old Nebraska sweatshirts. If you have any old Nebraska sweatshirts you would like to donate please bring them to the picnic or a game watch and we will get them to Sue.

A second Nebraska quilt has been donated by Carl and Rachel Free

Pair of Husker hot pads donated by Carl and Rachel Free
