Miami City Ballet

The home of the Miami City Ballet, Ophelia and Juan Js. Roca Center, is a 60,000 SF / 5,575m2 cultural facility that includes 8 studios, each 60′ / 18m wide x 40′ / 12m deep with 25′ / 8m ceilings (13′ / 4m in studio 6). This three-story building provides one of the top ballet companies in the United States with state-of-the-art rehearsal studios, dressing rooms and costume and set production facilities, as well as 16,000 SF / 1,490m2 of administrative space.

This facility also houses the Miami City Ballet School. Via a mutual and retractable 60′ / 18m wall, Studios 1 and 2 become a Studio Theater with portable, tiered seating for 200 people and basic theatrical lighting. The audience is seated in Studio 1 with the performance space in Studio 2. A Control Booth overlooking the Studio Theater for performance sound and lighting, doubles as a Sound Room for recording tapes. A Lounge for dancers and staff has a terrace view of Collins Park. The facility also includes a boutique and ticket office, a lobby with exhibition space for displays of costume and set design, a therapy room for injury prevention and treatment, and separate dressing rooms for the Company, students, artistic staff and faculty. The Artistic Director’s office, Board Room and Senior Staff Lounge connect via pocket doors, share a terrace, and can be opened up for receptions. The facility contains a serving kitchen for banquets and a loading dock for two trucks, with direct access to a freight elevator.
