ANNUAL REPORT 2017 Dear Friends: It is my privilege to be able to share with you these highlights of the Division of Cultural Affairs’ accomplishments and work during the 2016-2017 Fiscal Year. Throughout the year, the Division provided grants and services to not-for-profit arts and cultural organizations across Florida. These programs represented both variety in scope and service from grants supporting the work of exemplary cultural organizations to our newly initiated Diversity and Inclusion Awards which created momentum and visibility and recognized leadership in this important area. The Division built and strengthened partnerships that fostered arts and cultural activity across the state; demonstrated leadership by bringing the cultural community together and provided meaningful professional development and capacity building training to individual artists and those working in cultural organizations. The results depicted in this report would not have been possible without the generous support of our statewide and national partners, the leadership of Governor Rick Scott, the Florida Legislature and the Department of State. This has also been a year of change and growth for Division staff. I applaud their efforts, dedication and nimble approach in this second year of our Strategic Plan. As a staff we have been invigorated and refocused by the clear direction and feedback determined through the collaborative planning process. Each day, we are motivated by the belief that our work has value and impact. Looking back at the culmination of this busy and exciting year, I feel a great sense of pride at the role that we have been honored to play in Florida’s remarkable cultural industry. I hope you enjoy reading about some of the work of our partners and grantees and that you will continue to be involved with the Division over the coming year.
