Sabbatical Study

Austin, A. (2006–2007). Gyrotonic Expansion System®.

Creative and research activities ranging from conducting Gyrotonic® and Gyrokinesis® Foundation Teacher Trainings courses, teaching and choreographing dance (ballet, pointe and contemporary), and mentoring young artists in the field of dance and dance administration. Research focus was on Gyrotonic. This is a movement methodology in which I am one of a select group having attained Master Trainer status. This places me at the elite level of training potential teachers and mentoring established trainers. As part of my sabbatical study in 2006-2007, I completed my training and achieved Gyrokinesis Master Trainer status in Yspertal, . Since that time I have completed the development of the course Gyrotonic Applications for Tennis, presented on this course in 2006 in Rome, Italy and conducted the three day course at the 2008 Gyrotonic International Convention in Rome, Italy. My status as a Master Trainer has been updated to include specialized equipment known as the Leg Extension unit; a piece of apparatus that is especially beneficial in the cross training of dancers.
