Preface

Resiliency File Replicator Software Installation Guide provides concepts and procedures to install, upgrade and uninstall the Resiliency File Replicator product. Although this guide is intended for administrators responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining the Resiliency File Replicator product, advanced users will also benefit from the information it contains.

1 Installation Overview

Resiliency File Replicator software

Resiliency File Replicator Software is compatible with the following servers:

§ Windows Server

§ Solaris Server

§ Linux Server

§ HPUX Server

Prerequisites

Based on the features, download the GPL dependent binaries from this link GPL dependent binaries before starting RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATOR and perform the steps mentioned in the chapter, RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATOR Third Party Installation.

Refer to GPL License information for information on GPL licenses.

Upgrade

The Resiliency File Replicator software is a separate installer. You can upgrade the existing Resiliency File Replicator version from 4.2 to 7.1. Only the GUI mode is supported for upgrade. The older versions (i.e. versions prior to 4.2) of Resiliency File Replicator are not supported for upgrade.

The software is available in ftp.IBM.com where the credentials are sent to customer, which contain the following installation packages:

Resiliency File Replicator Support

This method requires the use of .properties file for selecting installation options. For more information, refer to Chapter3.

2 Installing Resiliency File Replicator Using GUI Mode Installation

This software is packaged as an image file called Resiliency File Replicator.binon IBM Resiliency Orchestration™ Distribution FTP in Server folder. It contains all the binaries and packages to run Resiliency File Replicator software. This software installation involves installing Resiliency File Replicator binaries, and tools used by Resiliency File Replicator on Windows, Solaris, Linux, HPUX or AIX server.

Prerequisites for Installing Resiliency File Replicator

For the installer to install Resiliency File Replicator Platform successfully on the selected Server, the following hardware/software requirements must be fulfilled:

§ The server must have a minimum of 2 GB RAM.

§ The user should have Administrator or root equivalent privileges to install Resiliency File Replicator.

§ Ensure that the temporary (/tmp) has approximately 700 MB free space.

Installation of Resiliency File Replicator

This section outlines the procedure to install all Resiliency File Replicator

To install Resiliency File Replicator, perform the following steps:

1. Login to the system and Download the server binaries from the given ftp .

2. Navigate to the directory that contains the installation file. The selection of the folder and action to be performed to run the installer are based on the server platform used to install. Refer to the following table for these details:

At the command prompt, enter HPUX Installers/ HPUX. ./RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATOR.bin. At the command prompt, enter AIX Installers/AIX. ./RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATOR.bin.

Note Following are the limitations for installing Resiliency File Replicator on Windows:

§ Services can only be registered and started by users having local administrator permissions on the physical target machine, and not remotely.

§ If Services have to be registered and started from remote machines, such as Terminal Server, then the user must be an Administrator having necessary permissions to the registry and Windows\System32 directories.

3. After extracting the files from RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATOR.bin , Resiliency File Replicator installation starts with the following screen.

Note On Linux Server, if the RHEL version is not 5.0 and 6, then a warning message will be displayed on the screen. However, the user can continue with the installation.

4. After displaying the IBM Resiliency Orchestration installer screen, the Introduction window is displayed.

5. Go through the installation procedure and click Next. The Choose Install Folder window is displayed.

6. Select a path to install the software by clicking Choose. Alternatively, you can click Restore Default Folder to restore the default path. The default path is C:\Program Files\RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATOR for Windows server and /opt/RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATOR for Solaris, Linux, HUPX and AIX server (Unices). It is recommended that you use the default path displayed.

7. Click Next. Provide the Nat IP Address

Note:

NAT IP address should be the private IP of the server where you are installing

8. Click Next. The Choose Shortcut Folder/Choose Link Folder window is displayed.

9. Select an option to create a product icon in the required location. For example, select Other option button to create a product icon in a specific path, or select Don’t create icons/Don’t create links option button to avoid creating shortcut folders.

10. Click Next. The Pre-Installation Summary window is displayed.

11. Go through the pre-installation summary to verify the inputs provided. If you want to change the inputs, click Previous and modify.

12. Click Install. The Installing Resiliency File Replicator window is displayed.

13. Once the installation is complete, the Starting Resiliency File Replicator window is displayed.

14. On the Starting Resiliency File Replicator window, perform either of the following:

§ Click Yes to the Resiliency File Replicator services automatically.

§ Click No to start the Resiliency File Replicator services manually.

Note The best practice is not to change the default value displayed on the Starting Resiliency File Replicator window. Restart the Resiliency File Replicator machine, if the agents do not start after Resiliency File Replicator installation is complete.

15. Click Next. The Install Complete window is displayed, indicating successful installation.

16. Click Done to complete the installation process.

17. Refer to Chapter 4, RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATOR Third Party Installation and perform the RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATOR Third Party Installation depending on the Operating System.

Note Once the installation is complete, verify the individual Resiliency File Replicator service installation manually, by clicking the Services icon on the Administrative tools group in Control Panel on Windows server.

3 Installing Resiliency File Replicator Using Silent Mode Installation

In Silent mode installation method, the installation program reads the settings for your configuration from the .properties file that you create prior to installation. The installation program does not display any configuration options during the installation process. Silent mode installation is supported on Windows, Linux, Solaris, HPUX and AIX platforms. The following sections describe the method to install Resiliency File Replicator, using the silent mode. It is assumed that you have acquired the installation program from the FTP server.

Note Make sure that the hardware and software configuration required for Resiliency File Replicator installation is in place. For details, refer to the Prerequisites for Installing Resiliency File Replicator on page number 8.

Editing Properties File

When you install Resiliency File Replicator in Silent mode, the installation program uses the RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATORInstaller.properties file, to determine which installation options should be implemented. Therefore, before you can run the installation program in Silent mode, you must edit the RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATORInstaller.properties file in which you specify the installation options that you want to invoke, while performing the Resiliency File Replicator installation. Perform the following steps to edit the properties files.

1. To edit RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATORInstaller.properties file:

§ Download the file from the ftp path. .

§ Open the properties file by using the following command:

Linux/Solaris/AIX/HPUX: vi RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATORInstaller.properties Windows: Open RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATORInstaller.properties file using Notepad.

2. Modify the respective properties file for the key words shown in the following tables, to reflect your configuration. 0.

RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATORInstaller.properties file: Key word Description INSTALLER_UI Displays the mode of installation as “silent”.

Key word Description Enter the full pathname for the directory in USER_INSTALL_DIR which you want to install the Resiliency File Replicator software. Enter 1 if you want to start Resiliency File Replicator automatically after the installation. Enter 0 if you want to start Resiliency File Replicator manually. PFR _START_YES Note: PFR service will not start after the installation due to dependency on the the third party libraries.

Resiliency File Replicator Silent Mode Installation

The following section provides steps to install the software by silent mode.

Note In silent mode, uninstallation does not check whether services are running or not. The user has to make sure that services are stopped before uninstallation in silent mode.

Starting Silent Mode Installation on Windows Server

Perform the following steps to install Resiliency File Replicator on Windows system.

1. Log on to Windows system.

2. Open an MS-DOS command prompt window.

3. Go to the directory that contains the installation file and launch the installation procedure by entering the following command: 0.

install.exe –f For example: install.exe -f c:\\Progra~1\\RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATORInstaller.properties

Note After completing the installation of Resiliency File Replicator, no status is displayed. The user does not get information on whether the installation is successful or not.

4. Refer to Chapter 4, RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATOR Third Party Installation and perform the RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATOR Third Party Installation depending on the Operating System.

Starting Silent Mode Installation on Unices Servers

1. Log on to Linux/Solaris/HPUX/AIX system.

2. Navigate to the directory that contains the installation file. Edit and save the property file to /tmp.

3. Launch the installation by entering the following command: 0.

./install.bin –f For example:./RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATOR.bin –f /tmp/ RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATORInstaller.properties

4. Refer to Chapter 4, RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATOR Third Party Installation and perform the RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATOR Third Party Installation depending on the Operating System.

4 Resiliency File Replicator Third Party Installation

During RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATOR installation, the user can configure the $RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATORROOT path. This is the home directory for Sanavi File Replicator.

Third Party Binary Installation for Windows-32/64-Bit

Perform the following steps after installing RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATOR. Before deploying the dependent binaries, ensure the RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATOR services are stopped.

Note: Download the binaries from the link GPL Dependent binaries in Prerequisites. 1. Go to $RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATORROOT/bin folder by executing the following command. § $RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATORROOT/bin 2. Download the following files to the same location § rsync3.0.7-Windows-32bit. 3. Extract rsync3.0.7-Windows-32bit.zip 4. Download the following files to the same location § tar1.16-Windows-32bit.zip 5. Extract tar1.16-Windows-32bit.zip

Third Party Binary Installation For Linux-32-Bit

Perform the following steps after installing RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATOR. Before deploying the dependent binaries, ensure the RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATOR services are stopped.

Note: Download the binaries from the link GPL Dependent binaries in Prerequisites.

RHEL 5.6 1. Go to $RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATORROOT folder by executing the following command. § cd $RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATORROOT 2. Download and then Unzip the files by executing following command § tar -xvzf rsync3.0.5-RHEL5.6-32bit.tar.gz § tar -xvzf tar1.19-RHEL5.6-32bit.tar.gz

Third Party Binary Installation For Linux-64-Bit

Perform the following steps after installing RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATOR. Before deploying the dependent binaries, ensure the RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATOR services are stopped.

Third Party Binary Installation For AIX

Perform the following steps after installing RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATOR. Before deploying the dependent binaries, ensure the RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATOR services are stopped.

Third Party Binary Installation For HPUX-64-BIT Itanium

Perform the following steps after installing RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATOR. Before deploying the dependent binaries, ensure the RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATOR services are stopped.

Note: Download the binaries from the link GPL Dependent binaries in Prerequisites.

1. Go to a $RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATORROOT folder by executing the following command. § cd $RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATORROOT 2. Download and then Unzip/Untar the following files by executing following command § gunzip rsync3.0.9-HPUX11.31-IA.tar.gz § tar -xvf rsync3.0.9-HPUX11.31-IA.tar § gunzip tar1.26-HPUX11.31-IA.tar.gz § tar -xvf tar1.26-HPUX11.31-IA.tar 3. Third Party Binary Installation For HPUX-64-BIT Parisac

Perform the following steps after installing RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATOR. Before deploying the dependent binaries, ensure the RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATOR services are stopped.

Note: Download the binaries from the link GPL Dependent binaries in Prerequisites.

1. Go to $RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATORROOT folder by executing the following command. § cd $RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATORROOT 2. Download and then Unzip/Untar the following files by executing following command § gunzip rsync3.0.9-HPUX11i-PARISC.tar.gz § tar -xvf rsync3.0.9-HPUX11i-PARISC.tar § gunzip tar1.26-HPUX11i-PARISC.tar.gz § tar -xvf tar1.26-HPUX11i-PARISC.tar 3. Perform the following steps after installing RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATOR. Before deploying the dependent binaries, ensure the RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATOR services are stopped.

1. Go to $RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATORROOT folder by executing the following command. § cd $RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATORROOT

5 Stopping and Starting Resiliency File Replicator

This chapter explains the procedures that you must follow to start and stop Resiliency File Replicator on Windows, Solaris, AIX, HPUX and Linux servers. The script S999PanPFRSvc starts the service automatically when the server is booted. However, you can start or stop the service manually without rebooting the server.

Starting and Stopping of Resiliency File Replicator Service on Windows

1. Open Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services.

2. Right click the file Resiliency File Replicator and select Start to start the service.

3. Right click the file Resiliency File Replicator and select Stop to stop the service.

4. Right click the file Resiliency File Replicator and select Restart to restart the service. 0.

Accessing Resiliency File Replicator GUI on Windows

1. Open the web browser.

2. Enter the URL http://:8080/PFRGUI/pages/pfr_index.jsp in the address bar where the Resiliency File Replicator is installed. This opens the following window with IP addresses of available servers.

3. In the Resiliency File Replicator GUI, click the desired IP address below Available Servers. This opens the following window:

4. To , click the Logout button on the bar of the Resiliency File Replicator GUI.0.

Starting and Stopping of Resiliency File Replicator Service on Solaris

1. Start and Stop scripts of the Solaris agent reside at the following location:

/etc/rc3.d These scripts start the service automatically when the server is booted.

2. To start the Resiliency File Replicator Service manually, go to:

$RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATORROOT/bin

3. To start the Resiliency File Replicator Service manually, you can directly give the following command:

# ./PFR.sh start

4. Check whether the agents have been started or not with the following command:

# ps –ef | grep -i LAX

5. To stop the Resiliency File Replicator Service manually, you can directly give the following command: 0.

# ./PFR.sh stop

6 Uninstalling Resiliency File Replicator

This chapter provides detailed information on uninstalling Resiliency File Replicator on your system.

Note

§ If you have used Silent mode of installation, you can perform only Silent mode of un- installation. After Silent mode of installation, Graphical mode of un-installation cannot be performed.

§ If you have used Graphical mode of installation for Resiliency File Replicator, you can employ either Graphical or Silent mode of un-installation. Use the following commands to perform silent mode un-installation:

Uninstall_IBM_File_Replicator -i silent Uninstall_IBM_File_Replicator -i silent

Uninstallation of Resiliency File Replicator

To uninstall Resiliency File Replicator from GUI, perform the following steps:

1. Go to $RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATORROOT/Uninstall.

2. Click Uninstall_IBM_File_Replicator 0.

To uninstall Resiliency File Replicator from the command prompt, perform the following steps: # cd $RESILIENCY FILE REPLICATORROOT/Uninstall # ./Uninstall_IBM_File_Replicator

This process will uninstall all binaries that have been installed while installing Resiliency File Replicator. This process will not uninstall Tomcat binaries.

Note that uninstallation of Resiliency File Replicator does not delete the database. You have to manually delete the databases by providing the following command at the command prompt: #mysql -u root mysql>drop database pfr;

During uninstallation, the following directories will not be deleted, as they might be useful. var/log panacesFileReplicator/filesets

If the above directories are not deleted, the uninstallation process will list the name of these directories. After reviewing its contents, the directories can be deleted.
