BROTHER TIMOTHY COLDWELL, FSC Visitor District of New Orleans - Santa Fe Covington, LA

BROTHER TIM has served as Visitor of the District of New Orleans-Santa Fe for seven years. In 2014, Brother Tim marks his 43rd year of association with the Lasallian mission, beginning with his days as a student at Rummel High School in Metairie, LA. His assignments and duties include service as teacher, dorm , soccer coach, and administrator at San Miguel High School in Tucson, AZ; St. Paul’s School in Covington, LA; Notre High School in Shreveport, LA; and St. Alphonsus in New Orleans, LA. In addition to RCCB, Brother Tim’s other Lasallian leadership experiences and contributions over the years have included participating in numerous Regional and international Lasallian programs, serving in District ministry as Vocation Director, and serving in Institute ministry as Secretary for Formation. BROTHER DONALD JOHANSON, FSC Visitor District of San Francisco Napa, CA

BROTHER DONALD is currently in the third year of his term as Visitor of the District of San Francisco. He will become the first Visitor of the new District of San Francisco New Orleans on July 1, 2014. His previous experience has included teaching and administrative assignments at De La Salle High School in Concord, CA; Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory in San Francisco, CA; and Christian Brothers High School in Sacramento, CA. He served as District Vocation Director from 1984-1987, and from 1998- 2006 served at the Generalate in Rome, where he worked in Special Services for the General 1998-2000 and in Computer Services 2000-2006. He served in the United States Air Force as a pilot from 1970-1975. Brother Donald graduated from Sacred Heart High School (now Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory) in San Francisco, CA, in 1964 and enrolled in Mary’s College of California in 1965.

1 BROTHER JAMES JOOST, FSC Auxiliary Visitor District of San Francisco Napa, CA

BROTHER JAMES was appointed Auxiliary Visitor for the District of San Francisco in 2011. He also participates on the District and Mission Councils, the Brother Community Directors Association, the Lasallian Education Corporation, and the District Leadership Team, as well as the District’s investment and governance boards. From 1997-2006, Brother James was District Director of Vocation Ministry. He has also served at La Salle High School in Pasadena, CA; San Joaquin Memorial in Fresno, CA; Saint Mary’s College High School in Berkeley, CA; and La Salle in Yakima, WA, in a variety of roles including teacher, department chair, class moderator, of Studies, and Principal. He has facilitated workshops and immersion experiences in the Philippines, India, Sri Lanka, and Kenya. Brother James is a graduate of both Sacred Heart High School (now Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory) in San Francisco, CA, and Saint Mary’s College of California in Moraga. BROTHER CHARLES KITSON, FSC Auxiliary Visitor District of Eastern North America Eatontown, NJ

BROTHER CHARLES was appointed DENA’s Auxiliary Visitor for Community Life and Formation in September 2013. He has a leadership role with the directors in promoting the vitality of fraternal lives in community and ministry, with particular responsibility for the continuing formation of the Brothers, the animation and leadership of Vocation Promotion and Initial Formation programs, and the promotion of Lasallian association within and beyond DENA. His variety of professional experiences include teacher, Director of Campus Ministry, Vocation Director, missionary in Guatemala, and social worker. Most recently, he served at the Generalate in Rome as Coordinating Secretary for the Lasallian Family and Association for the Institute. Brother Charles served for many years as a Community Director of both Brothers and Lasallian Volunteers, and he is a skilled pastoral counselor. BROTHER LOUIS-PAUL LAVALLÉE, FSC Visitor District of Francophone Canada Longueuil (Québec), Canada

BROTHER LOUIS-PAUL was appointed Visitor of the District of Francophone Canada for a four-year term in May 2012. He had been the Visitor of the same District from 2001-2008. Previously, he served as Visitor of the former District of Trois-Rivières for six years. He served a teacher in a few high schools in the Trois-Rivières area, which is located between Québec City and Montréal. He also served as principal of the last Lasallian school in Québec. For years, he worked in a school for students with special needs, before being in charge of a center offering summer camps and weekend activities.

2 BROTHER DENNIS MALLOY, FSC (chair) Visitor District of Eastern North America Eatontown, NJ

BROTHER DENNIS has served as Visitor of the District of Eastern North America since September 2009. From 2007-2009, he was the Visitor of the Baltimore District. From 2000-2007, Brother Dennis served as the Executive Director of St. Gabriel’s System in Pennsylvania where he oversaw all programs and operations of the multi-service agency, which provides residential and community-based services for court-adjudicated youth under the auspices of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, Social Services, and the Christian Brothers. Prior to this position, Brother Dennis worked as Director of De La Salle Vocational School in Bensalem, PA, for 11 years and also served as Director of Scholastics for five of those years. He taught religion at West Philadelphia Catholic High School for Boys (now West Catholic Preparatory High School) in Philadelphia, PA, from 1980-1983. BROTHER EDWARD PHELAN, FSC Auxiliary Visitor District of Eastern North America Eatontown, NJ

BROTHER ED began serving as an Auxiliary Visitor of DENA in September 2013. In this role, he shares in the pastoral care of the Brothers in Lasallian Communities, with particular responsibility for the continuing formation, well-being, and care of senior Brothers. Brother Ed has spent his life living and working with poor families in New York City as a teacher, school administrator, founder of a College Extension Program at New Rochelle College, and founder and Executive Director of Highbridge Community Life Center empowering the poor in the Bronx. He served many years on the District Council of the legacy New York District and as a Community Director of Brothers and Lasallian Volunteers. He has participated in Lasallian formation programs nationally and internationally, and is skilled as a Spiritual Director. BROTHER LARRY SCHATZ, FSC (vice chair) Visitor Midwest District Burr Ridge, IL

BROTHER LARRY was appointed Visitor of the Midwest District effective July 1, 2011. He previously served as the District’s Auxiliary Visitor since 2008. In 2000, Brother Larry was one of the founders of San Miguel School of Minneapolis, MN, and he served as President of the school until December of 2007. He taught at Pacelli High School in Stevens Point, WI, from 1979-1982, and after completing his year, he returned there from 1983-1985. He then served for five years as campus minister and teacher at Holy Angels Academy in Richfield, MN, and from 1990-1991 he attended the SIEL (Lasallian Studies) program in Rome. When he returned, he taught for one year at DeLaSalle High School in Minneapolis, MN, and from 1992-1999 he was a campus minister and adjunct professor at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota in Winona.

3 BROTHER ROBERT SCHIELER, FSC General Councilor Lasallian Region of North America Washington, DC

BROTHER BOB has served as General Councilor since 2007 after serving as Visitor of the Baltimore District from 2001-2007. As a General Councilor he has specific responsibility for RELAN. Before becoming Visitor, Brother Bob was the Director of Education for the United States-Toronto Region. He also served as Executive Secretary for the Regional Education Board and College Presidents Association. Prior to this, Brother Bob served seven years as Assistant Provincial and Director of Education for the Baltimore District. A missionary to the Philippines for 11 years, he has served in a variety of administrative positions from Assistant Principal to Superintendent of Schools. A delegate to the 44th General Chapter in 2007, he also attended the 43rd General Chapter in 2000 and the 42nd General Chapter in 1993. He sits on several boards, including Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota and Bethlehem University. He is a graduate of La Salle College (now University) in Philadelphia, PA, where he has also served on the Board of Trustees. BROTHER DAVID SINITIERE, FSC Auxiliary Visitor/Director of Education District of New Orleans - Santa Fe Covington, LA

BROTHER DAVID serves as Auxiliary Visitor of the District of New Orleans-Santa Fe. In 2014, he marks his 71st year of association with the Lasallian mission, dating back to his days as a first grade student at Hanson Memorial High School in Franklin, LA, which had an elementary division. His prior assignments include periods at Kirwin High School in Galveston, TX; St. Michael’s High School in Santa Fe, NM; Saint Paul’s School in Covington, LA; and De La Salle High School in New Orleans, LA. He was elected to the Louisiana State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education representing the Second Congressional District, and served as Executive Director of the Louisiana School of Math, Science, and the Arts. Brother David has participated in numerous Regional and international Lasallian programs, served as an adjunct professor at both Tulane University and Loyola University of New Orleans, LA, and held various other roles. BROTHER MARK SNODGRASS, FSC Auxiliary Visitor Midwest District Burr Ridge, IL

BROTHER MARK currently serves as Auxiliary Visitor of the Midwest District, a position he has held since 2011. Presently, he serves on the Midwest District Council and Midwest District Lasallian Mission Council, and is Chair of the Ministry Association and Assessment Committee. Prior to this, Brother Mark was founding Principal of De La Salle at Blessed Sacrament in Memphis, TN, a member of the former Lasallian Association of Miguel Schools. His previous experience included various roles at Christian Brothers College High School in St. Louis, MO; St. Mary’s High School in Paducah, KY; Archbishop O’Hara High School in Kansas City, MO; and St. Stephen’s Academy in Kansas City, MO. He was also the Dean of Students, teacher, and Director of the San Miguel Residence at Liceo La Salle in Chiquimula, Guatemala.
