National Eventsevents Research & Publications SAFA International Conference Committee Islamabad| April 28 & 29, 2017 A Memoir of Institute’s activities and programs for professional development and corporate networking April 2017 I Vol: 17.4 National Council Dear Members, I am pleased to present the April 2017 issue of e-Newsletter which covers the Office Bearers monthly activities of the Institute’s head office Karachi and its Centres/Campuses President all over Pakistan. Mohammad Iqbal Ghori, FCMA The most prominent national event that was organized by the Institute during Vice President this month was ‘SAFA International Conference’. This mega event was Anis ur Rehman, FCMA inaugurated by H.E Mamnoon Hussain, President, Islamic Republic of Pakistan Honorary Secretary and participated by delegates from the SAARC countries and Afghanistan, foreign diplomats in Pakistan, government officials and representatives Khawaja Ehrar ul Hassan, FCMA of trade industry. The Federal Finance Minister, Mr. Mohammad Ishaq Dar was Honorary Treasurer the Chief Guest at the concluding session of the conference. This event Mohammad Iqbal Ghori, FCMA Saghir ul Hassan Khan, FCMA helped immensely in the image building of the Institute and highlighted its President, ICMA Pakistan and Chairman Research and Members dynamic role in fostering increased cooperation among the regional accounting Publications Committee bodies to take joint initiatives for meeting the economic challenges in the Raheel Asghar Ginai, FCMA SAARC region. Zia ul Mustafa Awan, FCMA The Council of the institute is committed to enhance the capabilities of its members and broaden their vision Kashif Mateen Ansari, FCMA so that they can strive for challenging roles at the national, regional and global levels. A number of other events are being planned, specially a seminar on China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) at Lahore, the Waqar Ali Khan, FCMA details of which shall be communicated in due course of time. The Federal Finance Minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar was the ‘Chief Guest’ at the concluding Mohammad Iqbal Ghori, FCMA session of the conference on 29th April 2017. The high-profile event was attracted by accounting professionals, Chairman, Research & Publications Committee experts, economists, policy makers, diplomats and representatives of trade and industry. The conference dwelled Editor upon ways and means for bracing economic challenges faced by the SAARC region. Newsletter Vol: 17.4 I April 2017 Mr. Mohammad Iqbal Ghori, President ICMA Pakistan in his speeches at the inaugural and concluding sessions highlighted the pivotal role of ICMA Pakistan in enhancing regional interaction at SAARC and Asia-Pacific for synergizing the professional accounting community to contribute towards socio-economic growth and bring improvement in financial structure. He appreciated the present economic policies and remarked that in the wake of CPEC, Pakistan is now turning into a ‘land of opportunities’ for global investors. He remarked that today’s’ Pakistan is different from the past as society is transforming and people are complementing in economic development. He stated that management accountants can play an effective role in pricing of utility items in regulated sector in the interest of common consumer. He emphasized upon the government to take CMAs on board in ‘Advisory roles’ in government so that they can use their technical skills in bringing economic efficiency. CenterCenter / Campus / Campus Activities Activities KARACHI / HYDERABAD Center / Campus Activities Mentoring Session for Prospective Students Karachi| April 22, 2017 ICMAP South Region organized a Mentoring Session for Prospective Students on April 22, 2017 at Karachi for prospective students. The purpose of seminar was to aware students and their parents about admission program, future prospects and methods of setting career goals. The event was honored by Khawaja Ehrar-ul-Hasan, Honorary Secretary of ICMA Pakistan; Mr. Muhammad Kamran Jamil, Director CPD & CR&C and Mr.Lal Muhammad Lakhan, Acting Director South Region. Mr. Arshad Imran was the guest speaker on this occasion. Pre-Budget Seminar Karachi| April 7, 2017 Karachi Branch Council (KBC) organized a ‘Pre-Budget Seminar 2017-18’ in collaboration with the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) on April 07, 2017 at FPCCI, Federation House, Karachi. The objective was to collect suggestions from the economists, budget experts and business community. Prominent speakers included Mr. Shakil Ahmed Dhingra, Chairman, FPCCI Standing Committee on FBR Affairs; Mr. Shahid Hassan Siddiqui, Economist; Syed Shabbar Zaidi, Senior Partner and Chairman, A.F. Ferguson & Co., Mr. M. A Lodhi, former council member, ICMA Pakistan. The seminar was attended by around 85 participants including members, students and officials of the different companies & FPCCI secretariat. Career Counseling Seminar Karachi| April 15, 2017 ICMA Pakistan South Region organized a Career Counseling Seminar on April 15, 2017 at Karachi for prospective students. The purpose was to aware students about admission program, future prospects and methods of setting career goals. LAHORE Center / Campus Activities Workshop on ‘Excellence in Excel’ Lahore| April 11 - 15, 2017 Lahore Branch Council (LBC) organized a workshop from April 11 to 15, 2017 on ‘Excellence in Excel’ which covered information on dashboards, tips & tricks, financial and non-financial tools and techniques. Mr. Tahir Mahmood Fazal was the course leader of the workshop. Workshop on ‘Audit Working Papers Review Techniques’ Lahore| April 20, 2017 Lahore Branch Council (LBC) organized a workshop on ‘Audit Working Papers Review Techniques’ on April 20, 2017. Mr. Muhammad Hussain, FCMA, Director Central Region and participants attended the workshop. Technical Session on ‘Economic Measures & Fiscal Budget 2017-18’’ Lahore| April 21, 2017 Lahore Branch Council (LBC) organized a technical session on ‘Proposals for Economic Measures and Fiscal Budget 2017- 18’ on April 21, 2017. The objective was to hold consultation with different stakeholders and seek their valuable input for developing Budget and Trade Policy.     PAKISTAN - BILATERAL VISIT AND NEW MEMBERS’ INDUCTION PROGRAMME REPORT SUMMARY 18-22 FEBRUARY 2019 PROGRAMME OVERVIEW A CPA UK delegation led by Naz Shah MP visited Pakistan from 18-22 February 2019. The delegation, which also included Faisal Rashid MP, Baroness Warsi, Lord Rogan, and two CPA UK staff, participated in a series of diplomatic meetings in Islamabad and Lahore, to gain a better understanding of the changing political and parliamentary landscape of the country, following the general elections in July 2018. A two-day induction programme for newly-elected Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) was also organised at the Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS) in Islamabad from 20-21 February.
