The kids were in greats hands with the volunteer super coaches and parent helpers getting kids in uniform, getting them working some drills to warm up, always important to avoid injuries with a long day of footy ahead, then off they marched to take on the other clubs. The little tykes of the club the Little Stingers had a big day but they all worked and played hard and pushed on game after game. There was a couple of breaks for food and drink replenishment and some excited chatter for mum and dad, then back out on the field to go it again. The little people did the club proud to go in and give it their best, you know footy is a passion when they go go go for hours. the year 3s are the kings and queens of Auskick. Year 6 Green The beginning of a new footy season is always eagerly anticipated. Following on from a very impressive 2013 season, the majority of the existing Green Machine assembled on a hot March afternoon for the start of their pre season. Year 4 Green Season 2014 was very successful for Year 4 Green; we started the year with a focus on skills and developing the children’s opposite side and in identifying the keys strengths of every player. Our main goal for the year was to make football fun and rewarding through incorporating games and competitions to enhance fitness levels and game sense while always maintaining a focus on “teamwork”. We had a very large group of over twenty children which made for interesting training sessions and our support staff and assistant coach had their hands full in managing the bench on game day. Umpires Report This year, 11 of our South Perth Junior Football Club players/ past players/parents formed part of the Demons District Umpires Panel. The umpires train every Wednesday between 5.30 and 7.30pm with a combination of on field drills and fitness training, and instruction on rules, interpretation and decision reviews in the training room. They work together as a team, with the more experienced umpires passing on their knowledge and capability from game practice to the new umpires. Social functions organised by the Demons District Football Umpires Association also provide the opportunity to develop new friendships.

Depending on experience umpires from South Perth, we have controlled games from year 4 up to year 12 this season. With this new gained experience, we are now able to progress through to the next levels, ultimately moving to advanced development squads and umpiring at senior community level. Former players from South Perth Junior Football Club are currently involved in umpiring at senior levels including WAFL matches. There is a clear pathway for umpire development, with the training and mentoring provided by the Demons District. Young players with a passion for the game are encouraged to consider umpiring.
