JUST two weeks short of the 10-year anniversary of his AFL debut, Perth captain Clint Jones is set to join a cracking WA football club. When he leads the Demons onto this Saturday, the 33-year-old will play his 300th senior game of football – becoming the 42nd WA player to do so. And one of his former teammates, current chief executive , likens him to another player already by Tracey Lewis immortalised as part of the elite club. “I rate Clint as high as I rate Peter Bell (who played 338 senior games),” Atkins said of Jones who was drafted as a mature-age recruit by St Kilda and made his debut on April 14, 2007. “Bell was written off by Fremantle but he didn’t take a backward step in backing himself in, knowing he could play AFL -- the rest is history. “Clint was told he would not play AFL due to his average kicking skills – the rest is history as he went on to play 149 games for the Saints (including three grand finals).” As for why the Demons worked so hard to get Jones in Perth colours when he returned home from two years ago, Atkins said it’s that fact that he lives and breathes football that sets him apart. “Clint was 32 when he started with the club last year and that age factor along should allow you to have a few training sessions off – but he didn’t,” Atkins said. » Clint Jones with his 2006 South Fremantle WA teammates - Hayden North, Evan Hewitt and Theo Adams “During the year, he and wife Jessica had their first baby who was 10 weeks premature, another reason to miss a few training sessions or THE 300 CLUB (list courtesy of WAFL historian Greg Wardell-Johnson) commitments – but he didn’t. I love it when old jumpers come out of the woodwork. I’m not talking about jumpers from the 1980s or 1990s, which do turn up from time to time. Rather, I’m talking about jumpers from the 1960s, which feature wool that made the wearer instantly itchy and hit the market maybe once every year or two. One such jumper was discovered by East Perth supporter Brett last week when he was cleaning out his late parents’ home in Lathlain. Brett was brought up in the wrong area for a Royals supporter, but stuck fast and has supported the black-and-blues his entire life. So it was no surprise that he should discover some East Perth items from his childhood when he started cleaning. What he didn’t expect to find was an old East Perth jumper with number 17 on the back. I’ve been able to date the jumper, which was made by Sekem, to the period 1966-1968 because of the design. Which fits well because Brett says his dentist gave him the jumper in about 1973 and told him that East Perth’s Gary ‘Flea’ Gillespie was the original owner. Gillespie, who played 197 games for the Royals between 1963 and 1975, apparently used the same dentist. The jumper itself has seen better days, with a couple of holes and a few amateur repairs being quite obvious. Perhaps the most interesting (and Finally, I wonder whether there might be a But it’s still a beauty and could find a controversial) item was a 1924 ‘PFC’ badge. Wouldn’t you be interested in a product that could ease or even eliminate your aches and pains? Stop putting your life on hold due to recurring pain; it’s time to regain control of your pain management. Oska™ Pulse is a wearable pain relief device intended to help individuals live an active, pain-free lifestyle through its proprietary eTec™ Pulse Technology, which optimizes Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) therapy to reduce muscle stiffness, temporarily relieve minor pain and increase mobility. The Oska Pulse is: • No Wires and Electrodes • Drug-Free Pain Relief • Painless • Made in the USA • FDA Class 1 Approved Dr. Joseph Shurman (Chairman of Pain Management at Scripps Memorial Hospital) began by using Oska on a variety of patients to see what type of relief they might experience. “Surprisingly, the majority of these patients got relief. I have found it to be beneficial for the hand, elbows, knees and backs. Hip and shoulders are other areas it’s successful with.” Dr. Shurman indicated that at least 70% of his patients who used the product got relief. He adds, “I don’t know of any other product of its kind that has this kind of literature behind it, more than I’ve ever seen for an alternative form of therapy.”Oska Pulse can be used by the whole family and assists in speeding up recovery from training and games, as well as from minor to serious injuries. Prominent athletes have had spectacular results. Rod Dixon’s highlights include taking a bronze medal at the Munich Olympics and winning the 1983 New York City Marathon. Rod says, “Oska works with the synergy of the body and helps you to heal. I don’t have to go to a physical therapist or be hooked up to wires. Oska is something you can add to your routine and it complements anything you do. I find that my hip, lower back and my knees all require support from Oska. I’ve noticed an improvement in my recovery time and a noticeable lessening of pain, absolutely!” “I have used for several years a similar product to great effect with my sports injuries. This new Oska Pulse supercedes the other product, is so much easier to use, significantly cheaper and with the new technology will I am sure be even more effective. Very pleased” Michael Bentley If you’re experiencing pain of any kind, Oska is definitely worth trying. The company is offering an unconditional, 90-day money back guarantee. If you’re not completely satisfied, return the product. The only thing you risk losing, is your pain.
