Acta Ethnographica Hungarica 61(2), 279–282 (2016) DOI: 10.1556/022.2016.61.2.1 Body – Iden ty – Society Guest Editor’s Remarks on the Thema c Block Katalin Juhász Ins tute of Ethnology, RCH, Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Budapest Recently, at the XII International Congress of Finno-Ugric Studies (Oulu, Finland, 2015), within the framework of the 17th Symposium: Body – Identity – Society: Concepts of the Socially Accepted Body, there was an interdisciplinary dialogue initiated by Hungarian scholars. The main organizer of the panel was Katalin Juhász, senior research fellow at the Institute of Ethnology in the RCH of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.1 Scholars from Finland, Hungary, Austria and Russia responded to the call for papers. Following the successful symposium, the participants wished to publish the proceedings. Katalin Juhász selected a handful of representative papers for Acta Ethnographica Hungarica . In the present 2016/2 issue of the journal, the revised papers are presented with the guest editorial work of her. The papers in this thematic block, Body – Identity – Society: Concepts of the Socially Accepted Body, introduce various aspects of the topic of cleanliness and purity from the perspectives of ethnography, anthropology, and linguistic and literary studies. The papers offer an overview of concepts, theoretical interpretations, methodological approaches, and fi eld research summaries. In anthropology, the attention paid to the issues of cleanliness and purity has increased since the theoretical trend established by the publication of Mary Douglas’ seminal book Purity and Danger on purity and pollution (D 1966). It has been a generally accepted understanding in anthropology that purity and pollution are culturally defi ned categories. -

The development of the construction industry, conducting construction in accordance with standard projects, and transforming the construction materials industry in hard-to-reach and sparsely populated areas will make significant progress in solving the housing problem. Industrialization of housing construction is a catalyst for strong growth of the region’s economy and the quality of life of citizens. The purpose of this study is to develop a methodology for assessing the level of industrialization of the territory’s construction complex and its development potential for increasing the volume of low-rise housing stock. Research tasks: 1) assessment of the need to develop housing construction, including low-rise housing, on a particular territory; 2) development of a methodology for calculating the level of industrialization of construction in the area under consideration to determine the possibility of developing low-rise housing construction in this area in the proposed way; 3) approbation of the method using the example of rural areas of the Arkhangelsk region. It was revealed that the districts of the Arkhangelsk region have medium and low levels of industrialization. The districts that are most in need of an increase in the rate of housing construction have been identified. -

The Arkhangelsk oblast has long been one of Russia’s most important forest industrial regions. This paper analyses the changes in accessibility of forest resources and forest commodity production during the transition period in the 1990s. Oral Tradition, 25/2 (2011): 391-427 Interperformative Relationships in Ingrian Oral Poetry Kati Kallio [Transcriptions and audio excerpts of sung materials are available at http://journal.oraltradition.org/issues/25ii/kallio] The Baltic-Finnic ethnic groups used trochaic tetrameter called Kalevala-meter in their oral poetry. These ethnic groups included the Finns, Karelians, Estonians, Izhors, Votes, and Ingrian-Finns. The present name of this poetic meter1 derives from the Finnish national epic, The Kalevala (1835), which was compiled by Elias Lönnrot on the basis of folk poems. Kalevala- metric poetry was mainly sung, though it served as a vehicle for proverbs embedded in speech and recited charms. This form was the central poetic language of these groups, used in epic, lyric, ritual, and occasional songs. The very first sources derive from the sixteenth century, while the largest corpora were collected in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. One of the extensively documented geographical areas of Kalevala-metric oral poetry is Ingria, and in all of Ingria the majority of the sound-recordings were collected from the western districts of Soikkola and Narvusi. Beginning in 1853, many scholars traveled in West Ingria to record the predominantly female singing culture, first manually and later by using sound recording technologies. The Ingrian practices, structures, and stylistics of singing were varied, and this area is often referred as a counterpart to or a point of comparison for Karelian singing of a more male and epic character (Gröndahl 1997; Siikala 2000). I. Kir′ianen, A. V. Labudin and A. A. Samodurov (Кирьянен et al., 2017); A. I. Kir′ianen, (Кирьянен, 2016); N. Kuznetsova, E. Markus and M. Muslimov (Kuznetsova, Markus, & Muslimov, 2015); M. Muslimov (Муслимов, 2005); A. P. Chush′′ialova (Чушъялова, 2010); F. I. Rozhanskiĭ and E. B. Markus (Рожанский & Маркус, 2013); and V. I. Mirenkov (Миренков, 2000). There is untouched wildness in most regions, which is a prerequisite for the development of various forms of tourism. A relatively new, but actively developing, sphere of tourism industry in the republic is ethnic tourism linked to the lifestyle and traditions of the Komi people. People increasingly want not just to travel in comfort, but also through a special experience where they learn and try something new. How did our ancestors live without electricity? How did they stoke the stove and light up the house? What tools and objects did they use in everyday life? How did they cultivate crops, hunt, and fish? How did they conduct holidays and feasts, what did they drink and eat, how did they sing and dance? Due to the geographic isolation of the Komi Republic, this Northern European ethnic culture is preserved in the form of traditions and customs, ideas about the world and beliefs, used instruments of labour, clothing and housing, monuments of antiquity, and legends and epic tales. This certainly provides a good basis for the development of ethno-cultural tourism in our region. Ethno-tourism in Komi Today, a number of ethno-tourism projects have been developed by some travel agencies within the republic. -

Neruské národy Ruskej federácie, ich etnonymá a transliterácia Viktória BALLOVÁ Neruské národy Ruskej federácie Hneď na úvod je nevyhnutné definovať si pojmy, s ktorými budeme v tejto analýze operovať - pojmy „národ“ a „neruský“. Národ je spoločenstvo ľudí, väčšinou rovnakého antropologického typu, ktorých spája rovnaká história, jazyk, kultúra a zvyky. Kvôli správnemu chápaniu slova „neruský“, je potrebné priblížiť si pojem „ruský“ (podrobnejšie napr. Guzi, 2008, 85-87). Na celom svete žije okolo 150 miliónov východoslovanského etnika – národa, známeho ako Rusi. V Ruskej federácii predstavujú okolo 116 miliónov obyvateľstva, čo je asi 79,8 % celkového obyvateľstva štátu (zo 150 miliónov). Najviac Rusov žije v centrálnej časti, na Severozápade krajiny a na Urale. Rozlišujeme dva hlavné dialekty ruského jazyka - severný (okajúci) a južný (akajúci). Ruský národ zastrešuje veľké množstvo malých národov ako napríklad Gorjuny, Garany, Kazaki (skôr kozácky subetnos), Kamčadaly, Kolymčane, Russoustinci, Markovci, Keržaki, Molokane atď (Itogi, 2000, 38). Dorozumievajú sa ruským jazykom, ktorý sa zaradzuje do východnej podskupiny, slovanskej skupiny indoeurópskej jazykovej rodiny. V kontexte nášho pojednania sa vyhneme charakteristike imigrantov a obyvateľov okolitých štátov, ktorý žijú aj na tomto území ako napr. Ukrajinci, Kazachovia, Litovčania, Gruzínci, nakoľko nie sú štátotvornou národnosťou Ruskej federácie. Podľa sčítania ľudu z roku 2002 prebýva na území Ruskej federácie okolo 180 národov. Unikátne, kultúrne i historicky bohaté etniká, ktoré tvoria približne 20% celkového obyvateľstva, ostávajú pre verejnosť takmer zabudnuté. Títo ľudia hovoria jazykmi 13-tich jazykových rodín (Abcházsko-adygejskej, Nachsko-dagestanskej, Kartveľskej, Uralskej, Altajskej, Jenisejskej, Jukagirsko-čuvanaskej, Čukotsko-kamčatskej, Aleutskej, Ajnskej, Semitskej, Sino-tibetskej, Austro-ázijskej) a Nivchskím jazykom, ktorý je považovaný za izolovaný (Guzi, 2009, s. -

The issue was prepared within the frame- work of cooperation between the Department of Folkloristics of the Estonian Literary Museum and the Folklore Department of the Komi Science Centre by Komi and Estonian folklore researchers. Prior to this, the authors published one of the issues (vol. 17, 2016) of the Sator periodical, which was also dedi- cated to Komi folklore studies. The goal of this issue is to present some of the results of recent Komi folklore studies to wider academic circles, overcoming the natural linguistic obstacles. The majority of articles are written within the research project “Local Folklore Traditions of the European Northeast of Russia: Mechanisms of Development and Adaptation, System of Genres, Ethnocultural Folklore Interaction” (№ AAAA-A17-117021310066-4). The history of Komi folklore studies reveals processes typical for the Rus- sian, Soviet, and post-Soviet research dealing with folklore (the research field extended and became more limited over time), as well as studying the Komi language and culture as part of the general development of Finno-Ugric stud- ies. Traditionally, academician Andreas Sjögren (1794–1855) is considered to have discovered Komi folklore – in 1827, he transcribed folklore texts and published them as examples of the Komi language. -
