The film marked Roger Moore’s final performance as Agent 007. However, in the author’s superbly well-reasoned contention, A View to a Kill's intriguing, ev But a closer look at character motivation, development, relationships, and some plot structure shows that the film actually goes out of it's way to try something new, on a rather epic canvas. I found this aspect of the book fascinating and it made me re-watch the movie with a new sense of appreciation. I am already a huge supporter of the underrated A View to a Kill and was quite delighted to find this book.

Luboš Ptáček, Ph.D. ABSTRAKT: Bakalářská práce se zabývá proměnou zobrazování a vývojem Bond girl (Bondovy dívky) ve filmové sérii o Jamesi Bondovi a definuje pojem Bond girl. Zároveň vymezuje specifické postavení dalších ženských hrdinek Moneypenny a ženské představitelky 'M'. Práce analyzuje vybrané hlavní Bond girls ve vztahu k Jamesi Bondovi a jejich měnící se úlohu v sérii i s ohledem na měnící se postavení žen ve společnosti. Tyto proměny jsou zachyceny ve třech historických obdobích Bond girls, které reflektují společenské změny dané doby. Metodologicky práce vychází z feministických filmových teorií. Bond girls v průběhu více než pěti dekád prošly řadou změn, které se nejvíce odrazily ve vztahu Bond girl-Bond a také v úloze, kterou ve filmech mají – ženské postavy jsou více emancipované a samostatné.

    Scientists in the Bond film franchise Claire Hines, Solent University Abstract The James Bond film franchise (1962–ongoing) has always relied on science and technology for topicality and spectacle. Over the years, the scientist figure has also made regular appearances in the Bond films, most often within the confines of some of the established character types and functions defined by the formula aspects of the series – the villain, the Bond girl and the Quatermaster, better known as Q. This article uses Bond scholarship to consider key examples of each of these depictions of the scientist in relation to the heroic masculinity of James Bond, and in the broader context of research examining images of scientists in popular fiction. In so doing the article contributes to ongoing debates about the representational politics of Bond and scientist stereotypes in popular culture. Keywords James Bond Bond girl Quatermaster scientist stereotypes Bond films mad scientist 1 The James Bond film franchise began with the release of Dr No (Young 1962), a film of many notable firsts for the long-running and highly formulaic series. These important firsts include the introduction of Sean Connery as James Bond, the introduction of the criminal organization SPECTRE and the first major Bond villain, the first of the Bond girls and a number of key recurring characters. Even though some changes were made to the novel written by Ian Fleming and published in 1958, the film nevertheless follows the same storyline: Bond is sent by the British Secret Service to Jamaica, where he uncovers an evil plot headed by a scientific mastermind.

    James Bond et le Dirigeant : « presque 007 » points communs Sans être un dirigeant lui-même1, James Bond 007, le plus célèbre2 des agents secrets, a des points communs avec ce métier. Il a un objectif clairement identifié (sauver le monde). Il est soumis à une très forte pression (temps limité pour réussir, avec un minimum d’informations), dans un contexte hostile (ennemis intelligents, voire hyper-intelligents, pervers, puissants, excessivement bien organisés avec des équipements modernes et innovants). Il est seul. Son succès depuis près de 60 ans et, bientôt, 25 missions3, peut-il être une source d’inspiration pour le dirigeant ? A travers une revue de tous les films interprétés par Sean Connery4, Georges Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan et Daniel Craig, nous allons identifier des comportements, actions et scènes qui semblent répondre positivement à cette question. Nous verrons que 007 n’a pas l’exclusivité des inspirations pour l’action, mais que les méchants, parce qu’aussi dirigeants, peuvent nous inspirer, même si souvent c’est pour illustrer les actions et comportements à éviter, parfois le film lui-même, de par son histoire, peut être source d’enseignements. 1 Notamment, il n’a pas vraiment d’équipe à manager 2 ce qui est une incohérence : un agent secret, par définition, doit « être secret » donc inconnu ; James Bond est connu de tous ses ennemis, y compris ses faiblesses, voire ses vices. 3 Nous n’avons retenu ni la version parodique Casino Royale de 1967 où 007 est interprété par David Niven et le méchant par Woody Allen, car la loufoquerie lui a retiré tout caractère d’exemplarité, au sens de respect des codes fondamentaux, ni Jamais plus jamais de 1983 où Sean Connery a réendossé le smoking, 12 ans après sa dernière interprétation, avec un « recul » peu respectueux des codes de la saga officielle, à la limite de la parodie.
