Over the years, The Fabulous Thunderbirds have been influenced by a diversity of musical styles. Co-founder and original sole member, Kim Wilson says, “We started as a straight blues band, now we incorporate a mixture of a lot of different styles. We’re an American music band and we’re much higher energy than we were before.” In addition to Wilson, vocalist and harmonica player, the current Thunderbirds line-up features Jay Moeller on drums, Johnny Moeller and Mike Keller on guitar, and Randy Bermudes on bass. In 1979, the band’s first self-titled album was released that was blues influenced and soon became a cult classic. In subsequent releases, the band incorporated more Cajun, rock’n roll, and soul influences with noted producer Nick Lowe. The album “T-Bird Rhythm” marked a creative turning point for the group and in 1986, The Fabulous Thunderbirds reached an all time peak with the album, “Tuff Enuff.” The single, as well as “Wrap It Up” and “Look at That,” all went to Top 40. Having shared the stage with The Rolling Stones, Joe Cocker, Carlos Santana, BB King, and Buddy Guy, The Fabulous Thunderbirds have continued to tour and bring great music to fans worldwide.
