The boy's mission is simply to keep the spirit of good time rock ‘n’ roll alive and kicking into the 21st century. The Quireboys are an English hard rock band formed in 1984 in London, with strong ties to Newcastle. When the band formed, they were originally known as The Quirerboys and later as the London Quireboys in the United States and Canada, settling at last with their current name. The band were successful during the late 1980s and early 1990s, with their debut album “A Bit of What You Fancy” reaching No. 2 on the UK charts. Their highest charting single was with the song “Hey You”. In 1993, the Quireboys broke up but briefly reformed live in 1995 with different members. A permanent reformation came in 2001 when frontman Spike and guitarist Guy Griffin put together a new line-up. The band is still active, constantly recording new material and playing live all over the world. Their latest album, “Amazing Disgrace”, was released on 5 April 2019. In 2021, the band will release the 30th Anniversary Edition of the landmark album “A Little Bit Of What You Fancy” and will performed it on their rescheduled UK tour dates in October and November 2021 and January and June 2022. TROY REDFERN - BIOGRAPHY Taking up the guitar as a teen, Troy quickly absorbed his musical influences of the early blues pioneers and the energy of the 70’s and 80’s rock icons. The turning point came when he discovered open tunings and slide guitar. “I immediately felt like I’d come home the moment I put a bottleneck on my finger and started playing slide, it instantly felt completely natural to me. This style of playing helped me find my true voice on the instrument” His talents quickly realised, he received endorsements from Airline Guitars and even has his own signature glass blown slide made by world renowned slide manufacturer Diamond Bottlenecks whose roster includes the who’s who of slide guitar luminaries including the likes of Mark Knopfler. Carving out a name for himself by relentlessly touring and blazing a trail across the main stage festival circuits in the UK, Europe, Scandinavia, and Russia, and sharing the stage with the likes of Robert Plant and Dr Feelgood, Troy has worked tirelessly to build a strong following of diehard fans who gravitate towards his passionately honest, fiery performances and visceral guitar playing. The last few years has seen Troy shift into creative overdrive releasing five full length albums in 2020 alone, all receiving worldwide airplay and overwhelmingly positive reviews from the international press, “Island” and “Thunder Moon” both receiving multiple 5-star reviews. On August 9, 2021, Troy released his album “The Fire Cosmic” to rave reviews. His single “Sanctify” was Voted Tracks of the Week by Classic Rock. The single “Ghosts” was playlisted on Planet Rock. Over the next six months Troy will tour with Robert Jon & The Wreck, The Quireboys, Wille & The Bandits, and When Rivers Meet. # # # THE QUIREBOYS – SOCIAL MEDIA Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | YouTube TROY REDFERN – SOCIAL MEDIA Website | Facebook | Instagram | Spotify Twitter | Linktree | Bandcamp | YouTube # # # For further information please contact: Peter Noble at Noble PR Consultancy Tel: +44 207 272 7772, +44 794 908 9762 Email: [email protected] www.noblepr.co.uk .
