THE TRUMPET LAWRENCE MIDDLE SCHOOL/MARCH 2011/VOLUME 6 SPECIAL REMINDER KEEP LMS PEANUT AND NUT FREE By Brianna Burbia and Remy Geier Lawrence Middle School is peanut free. Students are not allowed to bring peanuts or items containing peanuts to school. More than one notice has gone home about peanut awareness and the way in which peanuts and tree nuts are not allowed in the building under any circumstances. The cafeteria, school store and vending machines do not contain items with peanuts in them. LMS is peanut free because many kids have allergies to peanuts; they could suffer from an allergic reaction. What causes an allergic reaction? An allergic reaction occurs when someone’s immune system wrongly thinks that something harmless, such as a tree nut, is actually harmful to the body. Special antibodies, called immunoglobulin E (IgE), are created to fight off the invading proteins in that food. IgE antibodies trigger the release of special chemicals into the body. One of the chemicals is histamine. It can affect a person’s respiratory system, gastrointestinal tract, skin and cardiovascular system. This may cause the effects of an allergic reaction, wheezing, stomachache, vomiting, itching, LMS Friendly Snacks hives and swelling. It could even result in death. One of the most common allergies is the tree nut allergy. Many students that attend Lawrence Middle School have a peanut allergy. Many teachers, including Mr. Lee Araoz, Mrs. Lisa King and Mr. Peter Sebor have children at home with peanut and other allergies. Why shouldn't you bring peanuts or items containing peanuts to school? You could cause an allergic reaction.

Title: Imagining the Future into Reality: An Interdisciplinary Exploration of The Jetsons. Abstract approved: _____________________________________________________ Eric Hill This investigation examines The Jetsons’ vision of the future and tracks to what extent the content of the show is relevant to the modern era, both technologically and socially. Much of the dazzling technology in the show feels familiar, and most of it is either already available or is in development, so the innovations of the present are largely keeping pace with the show’s vision. Culturally, the show reflects the values of the era in which it was created (in the 1960s), and despite the show’s somewhat dated outlook on culture and society, we can still empathize and see our own modern experiences reflected back at us through an animated futuristic lens. Therefore, The Jetsons serves as a touchstone for our hopes for the future as well as the experiences of the past and the values and goals of the

Fred, a quarry equipment operator, SS# 123-45-6789 came in and deposited 8,500 in cash which was his cash bonus from recent quarterly quarry sales. She took $500.15 of the cash to purchase a bank check to pay tuition for Pebbles to attend 4H, Happy Horned Toads, pet camp with her pet, Dino. She then took $75 cash from Pebbles’ account 9-321-7, to pay for vaccinations for Dino so that he is eligible to attend camp. After school that day, Pebbles also came to the bank with some friends to deposit $25.00 in coin to her savings account which was her portion of profit from Shamrock sales by the 4H club as a fundraiser for camp. Pebbles’ SS is 456-98-7321 no DL, her student ID from Bedrock Jr Hi is on file as well as her birth certificate. Fred and Wilma are co-owners with Pebbles on the savings account. • Meet the Flintstones a Critical Essay on the Perpetuation of the 'Caveman' Stereotype, from the Late 1800'S to Today
Meet the Flintstones A critical essay on the perpetuation of the 'caveman' stereotype, from the late 1800's to today. Sarah Moyneur Master’s Thesis in Archaeology Spring of 2013 Supervisor: Kristina Jennbert Department of Archaeology and Ancient History Lund University 1 Abstract Images can convey a lot in a little space, and communicate in a way that words cannot. For this reason, studying visual communication is important in order to ensure that users are conveying the right message. This thesis aims to better understand paleolithic reconstruction, and the stereotypes that are associated with them with the help of the following theoretical perspectives: gender, visual perspective, agency, and critical theory. Images are taken from three different periods in order to track the progression: the late 1800's, the 1960's, and today. These images are analyzed to extract elements of the stereotype. These elements are discussed in association with their appropriate time periods and paradigms in order to grasp various aspects associated with perpetuation. We see that certain aspects of reconstructions have remained stagnate since the birth of the stereotype in the late 1800's, and that these aspects are the result of various socio-political factors as well as conscious and unconscious motives. In addition to researching the reasons behind stereotype perpetuation, it was necessary to conduct a survey to show how images affect those who are exposed to them. The survey shows that images affect both archaeologically and non-archaeologically trained students to varying degrees. KEYWORDS: Stereotype, Stone Age, Illustrations, Academic, Popular Culture, Perspectives, Socio- Politics, Late 1800's, 1960's, Modern.
