FGIF INBOX - NEWS UPDATES 2021-22 updated on Friday 10/09/21 at 18:00. NEW Friday 10th September – Latest Updates to FGIF: WebEd – *NEW Photo Albums x 9* - Gary Spooner – Knowle FC (Midlands Football League Division 2) and Little Oakley FC (Essex Senior League in the FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round); Ian Brown – Meifod FC (Montgomeryshire League Cup); Waterloo Rovers FC (Mid Wales League EL); Welshpool Town FC (Ardal League NE) and Whalley Range FC (Cheshire League Division 1); WebEd – 780 JLC FC (Central Midlands League Division 1 North); Steve Hardy – Hopwood Swifts FC (Birmingham & District League Division 5) and Mark Bembridge – FC Edmonton (Canadian Premier League). All now added to the FGIF Album Gallery. Gary writes (via E-Mail on 31/08): ‘A short trip for my bank holiday entertainment at Knowle. Not the most entertaining game but a lot better than on last Saturday. Friendly locals and great value at £3 admission including programme. Knowle had 3 wins from 3 before this game whilst Alcester Town had no wins from 4 though it was an evenly contested game which saw just the one goal from Alcester in the second half’. …and (via E-Mail on 05/09): ‘It was the magic of the Cup at Little Oakley yesterday. Impressive set up and a very friendly welcome. An excellent programme and badges were available. The match was entertaining with Little Oakley deservedly winning 2-1 to progress to the next round meaning the majority of a bumper attendance of 241 went home happy. Another good day out’. *NEW TT Reports x 6* - Brian Buck – Silver End United FC (Essex & Suffolk Border League Division 1); The 61FC (Luton) (Spartan South Midlands League Division Two) and Magna 73 FC (Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division); Steve Hardy – Hopwood Swifts FC (Birmingham & District League Division 5); Keith Aslan – Kingsclere FC (Hampshire Premier League Division 1 North) and Jon T Green – Carlton Town FC (Northern Premier League Division 1 Midlands).

Stones were hoping to continue in the same vein as their mid-week performance against Burton Park Wanderers, but the plans were left in the changing room. From the off it was the visitors pushing forward, Stones’ defence held firm and Dalton certainly proved himself in goal. When Stones did break out of their half the impetus and finish was lacking and the visitors re-applied the pressure on the home defence. A 3-minute flurry on the half-hour saw Stones’ defence undone when an ill judged back pass failed to find Dalton and instead went to the feet of a visiting striker, who made no mistake planting the ball in the net, then Stones conceded a free kick just outside their box, the ball was flighted in, missed by the defence and hammered in at the far post. After the break Stones emerged and tried to regain control of the tie, but the visitors shut up shop at the back and what chances Stones engineered were either soundly dealt with, wide or hit the bar.

  • SATURDAY 31St OCTOBER Buildbase FA Trophy Rushall Olympic (A)
Good evening and a very warm welcome to the players, officials and supporters of Rushall Olympic, we do hope you enjoy your short stay with us before having a safe journey home. Rushall have made a solid start to this season’s campaign suffering only one defeat in their first 7 league games. A competitive club that are always in and around the playoffs, they will be looking to continue that form. Managed by former Barwell players, Liam Macdonald and Nick Green, they will have done their homework on us, so as ever we will be expecting a tough encounter. A well run club from top to bottom and in their second year with an artificial pitch the club is a good role model for non-league football. Both clubs know that this encounter between us will take place again at Rushall on Saturday in the Buildbase FA Trophy, it’s ironic how these consecutive fixtures seem to happen. We finally got our first win against Nuneaton Borough, which has brought a lot of relief to all connected with the club. I’m sure that will bring a lot of confidence, let’s hope we can kick on from here and get back into the mix on the league front. Finally for tonight, I’m pleased to announce that Jason Ashby owner of UK Flooring Direct has agreed to extend his sponsorship for a further 3 years with the club. He has also made a five figure donation to our fundraising effort for our 3G pitch project. If you read this Jason, all of us at Barwell thank you for your commitment once again and wish you, your family and your business all the best for the future.
