I’d like to start by wishing everyone a very happy and healthy 2020.

Today we welcome Bromsgrove in what promises to be another tough test for us. The result they got on New Year’s Day by beating 4-1 got everybody’s attention. They 2nd in the table so it goes without saying we will have to be at our best.

We’ve picked up just the one point over our last 2 games, on paper they looked tough and in reality both were.

The boys we have are now starting to get to know each other, there have been a lot of changes but I’m starting to feel that some continuity is staring to happen.

Thanks for your continued support Nunny Be a part

HAPPY NEW YEAR PETERBOROUGH SPORTS 1 v BIGGLESWADE TOWN 1 Report by Mike Draxler

From the players, management and staff at Biggleswade Town we wish you all a happy New Year, which started football wise at Peterborough yesterday. Early in the season today's hosts came to the Langford Road and inflicted a 3-0 beating with a fine display in the sunshine. The return fixture was of interest to see how the new Waders faired after a first defeat, Saturday. The game started at pace with The hosts buzzing around the Wader's area looking threatening and for an opportunity. The Peterborough forward line quality and known goal scorers. It took six minutes for the break through as the ball came across Avelino Vierra fired in with a well taken goal. A wake up call for Biggleswade as honest endeavour took over with some "fab" football. No surprise on17 as Matt Ball hit a shot that beat the keeper just under his bar. A goal fitting of a New Year's day. Encouraged the Waders pushed on and looked the more likely but kept out with some fine keeping by Lewis Moat.

After the break both sides looked for a winner but it was a game to be played in the mid-field as both the defences cancelled any ball reaching them. A feisty affair on a cold afternoon, not that sort of game but the officials managed 9 bookings and a sending off of Peterborough 6 Daniel Lawlor. It marred the sec- ond half with continual stoppages and never let the game flow. The incon- sistency annoying fans from both sides. In the end an honourable draw which was a fair reflection of the play. The officials, escorted off to loud "boos" from the home crowd. Mom Matt Ball History of Bromsgrove FC Bromsgrove Sporting Football Club was formed in 2009 by a group of former Bromsgrove Rovers directors and supporters when the latter was in serious financial difficulty and fac- ing closure. That would have meant the town having no football club playing at a serious non-league level. The Club has an unusual constitution with a rule that nobody can own more than 10% of the Club to ensure that nobody ever gains overall personal control. In addition, the Bromsgrove Sporting Supporters Trust has a stake in the Club and appoints three directors.

With Rovers’ difficulties deepening, Sporting were offered the tenancy of the town’s Victo- ria Ground by the District Council but had to play all home matches at the Beehive, home of Studley FC, as the pitch at the Victoria Ground had been left in an unplayable condition. Their first ever match (a pre-season friendly) was away to Stratford Town in July 2010 then a month later the season started in the Midland Combination Division Two away to Young Warriors in . After a lot of work and expenditure, Sporting were able to play their first match in Bromsgrove on 6th November in front of a crowd of 458 and ran up an im- pressive and unforgettable 7-0 win against Greenhill. Up to that point Myles Day had been the manager but he resigned due to family and work commitments and was replaced by former Rovers legend Stewart Brighton. Sporting missed out on the two promotion places but a reorganisation of the Midland Combination saw them move into Division One for season 2011/12. Not long after the start, Brighton stood down owing to work commitments and was re- placed by Keith Draper as manager with Ron Mellor as his assistant. They finished 3rd in the division and got to their first cup final losing the Evesham Hospital Junior Cup to Little- ton on penalties. Although missing out on automatic promotion, Sporting were promoted to the Midland Combination Premier Division when the League increased the number of teams at the top level. For season 2012/13, Graham Scott was appointed joint manager to share duties with Keith Draper but Draper stepped down at the end of March leaving Graham Scott assisted by Ron Mellor in charge to the end of the season eventually finishing 6th. Sporting also claimed their first pieces of silverware with the Reserves winning the Midland Combina- tion Reserve Division Two and the Under 18’s claiming County success in the Worcester- shire F. A. Youth Cup Season 2013/14 saw Adrian Mander as joint manager with Graham Scott assisted by coaches Les Palmer, Duane Darby and Matt Lowe, former Rovers stalwarts. Scott stepped down in October 2013, leaving Mander in charge of the first team. Sporting ended the season 2nd to Brocton and also gained their first cup success in win- ning the Smedley Crooke Memorial Challenge Cup by beating Paget Rangers. Season 2013/14 also saw Sporting enter the FA Vase for the first time, but bowed out to Westfields after wins against Lye Town and Stafford Town. After 2 games of the 2014/15 season Adrian Mander resigned as manager and Paul Smith was appointed his successor with Martin Sockett and Nick Smith as his coaches. History of Bromsgrove FC Smith guided “The Rouslers” to runners-up in the league for the second season. They also lifted the League Cup at ’s beating Southam United 3-2 in the final. Sporting also competed in the FA Cup for the first time but bowed out to Coleshill Town after a replay. In the FA Vase Sporting progressed to the 3rd. Round before losing to Thurn- by Nirvana. 2015/16 saw “The Rouslers” as the bridesmaids again; finishing second in the Division One to Coventry United, despite gaining a club record 91 points. In both the Senior Urn and the Smedley Crooke Memorial Challenge Cup, Sporting were losing finalists. Season 2016/17 was Sporting’s most successful to date winning the league with 104 points (19 ahead of their nearest rivals Hinckley AFC) and remaining undefeated for the whole campaign. In addition, they reached the semi-finals of the FA Vase before losing nar- rowly 2-1 on aggregate to Cleethorpes Town. They were also awarded the Worcestershire Senior Urn for the first time despite losing the final on penalties to Highgate United who were subsequently disqualified. The season also saw a vast increase in the support for Sporting with several crowds of over 1000 including a record 3349 for the home match against Cleethorpes. Season 2017/18 sees Sporting playing in the Midland Football League Premier Division for the first time. Paul Smith, who guided the Rouslers to the Premier Division, stepped down as Manager in February 2018, which saw Assistant Manager Brendan Kelly take over as First Team Man- ager, while Andy Mason became his Assistant Manager. Kelly and Mason brought in a very experienced first team coach, Kevin Barry, who was the manager of the RAF Senior Representative Football Team. Despite the managerial changes the club won the Midland Football League Premier Divi- sion title losing just 6 of their 42 league fixtures and scoring 110 goals in the process and earning a place in the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central. Sporting’s F. A. Vase run came to an end at the hands of eventual winners Thatcham Town, but the club did run out winners of the Worcestershire Senior Urn after a penalty shoot- out victory over Lye Town at Kidderminster Harriers’ Aggborough Stadium. Season 2018/19 saw Sporting facing a new challenge with their first encounter of step 4 football. This proved to be another successful season finishing runners-up and a place in the play-offs. Town were beaten by a single goal in extra time of a tense semi-final then extra time was also needed to beat Corby town in the final ensuring a third successive promotion. This season we debut in the Southern League Premier Division Central and look forward to meeting new teams at this level. Bromsgrove FC Player Pens Max Beardmore (DoB 15/09/98) - Goalkeeper. They became one of the founder members of the Big- gleswade and District League in 1902/03 and won the championship at the first attempt. The successful season was climaxed by winning the Bedfordshire Sen- ior Cup - the first of eight victories so far in the competition. The ‘Waders’, as the club are known, first entered the FA Cup in 1904.

2008 - Chris Nunn became manager in Nov 06 after a very poor start to the season saw the team heading for certain relegation. In Feb 07 the team had made up a lot of points but were still bottom of the Premier table. The team avoided relegation on the last league day of the season. The winning of the NBC Cup in the very last match of the campaign reinforced that optimism. The 2007/08 season saw the squad develop further with new signings and for the first time in 15 years the club found itself top of the division at one point. A final position of 3rd was a result of hard work and changes gradually moving the club forward. As the 2008/09 season beckoned, the new Stadium was ready for occupation and the seasons in the 'wilderness of ground sharing' were over. For the first time in the clubs 134-year history, it finally had a home of its very own.

2008 – 2009 - Moving into the new ground certainly created a great feeling at the Club and new faces began to appear on the playing side as well as behind the scenes. As the final whistle blew on the last friendly there was a definite feeling of readiness for the forthcoming season. The Wader’s first season (2009-10) at Step Four proved a tough start but grad- ually the team strengthened and finished in a comfortable twelfth place with the team taking points off every side that season except Bury Town and Hitchin Town who finished first and second respectively.

2010-2011 - This season saw the Waders climb to their highest ever position in the football pyramid, finally finishing in 4th place and with the resultant posi- tion in the playoffs. Waders travelled to 3rd place Daventry Town, a team they had previously beaten both home and away in the regular season. Football be- ing football, Daventry ran out easy winners ending Waders hopes of promo- tion.

HISTORY OF BIGGLESWADE TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB 2013-2014 - First season ever at step three and the Waders feel they have ar- rived. Finishing a creditable 9th in the table and reaching the FA Cup first round proper for the first time in the club’s history put the club in the record books. The Waders were the draw specialist of the premier division and had they con- verted the drawn games to winning ones, they would have finished in the play- off positions. Winning the Beds Senior Cup for the second successive season was the icing on the cake.

2014-2015 - This season was a real test for the Waders, with injuries both on and off the field. Long term injuries meant bringing in loan players and they all played their part.

2015-2016 - A difficult season for the Waders, Southern League gets harder eve- ry season, an injection of new players helped steer the ship.

2016-2017 - Having established their premier status the Waders went on to achieve their highest points total and finished just outside the play-offs in a creditable 7th position

2017-2018 - Tough season with the club suffering a number of significant inju- ries ended with a Mid Table finish and a narrow loss to Luton Town in the Beds Senior Cup Final. 2018-2019 - A successful first season for new manager Lee Allinson and his new squad. Winners of the Beds senior cup. 7th in the Southern league central premier division, narrowly missing a play-off place. Reached the 2nd round qual- ifying of the FA trophy only just beaten 1-0 away to conference side AFC Fylde. LATEST LEAGUE TABLE - For the latest updates visit the league
