We’re all very much looking forward to an enjoyable game. A big welcome to everyone who has travelled up from North-East Lincolnshire. Cleethorpes won the NCEL Division One title last season and have made an excellent start to life in the NCEL Premier where they currently lie in ninth place. Their striker Marc Cooper has scored 19 goals in all competitions this season, and they come here tonight full of confidence after an excellent 6-2 win away to Pickering Town on Saturday. We know we’ll have our work cut out this evening, but we’ll be doing all we can to maintain our seven point lead at the top of the table. A big thank you to all the fans who travelled to St Helen’s on Saturday to cheer us on to victory in the FA Vase. It was an excellent result and we are now just four wins away from a trip to Wembley! The fourth round draw was made yesterday and we will face Brocton FC from the Midland Football League Premier at home on Saturday 17th January. It is sure to be another fantastic game and we’d love nothing more than to equal our club record of making it into the fifth round, which has stood since 1977-78. Tonight’s game is our 20th league game of the season, which means we are already half-way through the SMOCK TOP league’s season. If we win tonight we will go 10 points clear at the top and we will finish the first half of the season on an incredible 52 points. Rushall have made a solid start to this season’s campaign suffering only one defeat in their first 7 league games. A competitive club that are always in and around the playoffs, they will be looking to continue that form. Managed by former Barwell players, Liam Macdonald and Nick Green, they will have done their homework on us, so as ever we will be expecting a tough encounter. A well run club from top to bottom and in their second year with an artificial pitch the club is a good role model for non-league football. Both clubs know that this encounter between us will take place again at Rushall on Saturday in the Buildbase FA Trophy, it’s ironic how these consecutive fixtures seem to happen. We finally got our first win against Nuneaton Borough, which has brought a lot of relief to all connected with the club. I’m sure that will bring a lot of confidence, let’s hope we can kick on from here and get back into the mix on the league front. Last Saturday we played Halstead in the FA Cup, a match which we were obviously expected to win. Sometimes that’s a no-win situation unless you win the game very convincingly. We got off to a bright start and could have been more than 3 goals up at half-time, and although the 2nd half didn’t start how the 1st finished we picked up the pace and shifted the ball Club Officials: very well to end the game very much in control with a real positive feeling amongst the lads. Myself and Darren can’t fault the lads in the way they are progressing and taking on new ideas. This puts us in a really positive position coming into this game. Unfortunately, we lose Matty Richardson, who is moving to America to continue his studies, but we are confident that the squad numbers will soon be back to where they were, so watch this space. Let’s hope come 4.45pm on Saturday we are off the mark as the buzz around the ground is fantastic at the moment and the fans and committee deserve some positivity. Since my last visit on, 4th September, I had intended to make a trip to Lye Town before now, but for one reason or another this did not prove to be possible. As I scrolled through the fixtures last weekend, looking for a mid-week game I saw that Lye Town were at home this evening. Now, Tuesday’s just lately are proving to be a great day to go and do a bit of ground hopping. The Channel 4 Television Programme, Bake Off is currently airing for a few weeks every Tuesday and as may soon to be Wife, Jodie enjoys a bit of Bake Off, then Tuesday’s work out very well for the both of us indeed. Jodie collected me from my place of work in, Atcham, Nr Shrewsbury and we made our way home to my football travels base camp in Brookhampton, South Shropshire. After grabbing a bit of cash from home I was on the road for 6:40pm. The drive to Lye is quite a straight forward route, after navigating the various lanes close to home I headed to Bridgnorth.
