New Tamworth boss Dennis Greene signs three players including former Aston Villa striker Stefan Moore

Dennis Greene has begun to make his mark at Tamworth after signing three players including former Aston Villa striker Stefan Moore.

Greene was appointed Lambs boss last week with chairman Bob Andrews hoping the former Boston United, St Neots and Histon manager could bring back the crowds that have dipped under 600.

Tamworth have taken nine points from their first seven Southern League Central games and Greene has moved to strengthen his side.

Moore, 34, has signed after his short stay at Redditch United came to an end having started his career at Aston Villa. Greene managed Moore at St Neots Town, where the frontman enjoyed terrific form, netting 68 goals in 80 games.

Defender Charlie Jemson has also joined and the versatile Keegan Townrow. Jemson, a 19-year-old former Nottingham Forest youngster and son of former Forest and Sheffield Wednesday striker Nigel Jemson, arrives from Ilkeston Town.

Townrow, meanwhile, is a Doncaster Rovers academy graduate and is best known as a midfielder.

Hi Stag Fans!!

Hopefully I might see you around the ground at some point later on this season……Fingers Crossed !!

Here we are, yet ANOTHER Cup Competition and another chance to make some progress and maybe bag a shiny new trophy later on in the season. After we did so well in so many different cups last season, I just hope this season doesn’t prove to be a big disappointment in that department...... Maybe we could go all the way in the FA Vase this time, that would be good !!

I have to say I actually do LOVE the Bluefin League Cup. There’s such a wide mix of teams in there with the additional possibility of some really big local derbies, like today’s !! I can’t remember the last time we played Holyport in a proper competitive fixture, so a great opportunity presents itself today. Who can forget last seasons thriller against Arbor Park’s biggest team Chalvey Sports ? Any team who’s nickname is The Stab Monkeys have got to be worth playing !!

Good luck to Mick and the Boys today. The shelves in the clubhouse are looking just a little bit bare, so a nice big trophy on the mantelpiece would be just the job !!! If you could also arrange to give one of our local rivals a big time drubbing in the final, that would be ideal. Maybe that’s one to take up with Father Christmas ???
