Stadium for tonight's uhlsport Hellenic League Division One East fixture. We extend a warm welcome to the Management, Players, officials and supporters of our visitors this evening, Milton United, we hope you enjoy your short stay with us and have a safe journey home after the game. Our visitors tonight have only played the one League game so far and that was an impres- sive 5-2 win at Abingdon United although on Saturday they suffered a two-nil defeat at the Heights to Buckingham Athletic Development in the Blufein Sports Challenge Cup albeit with a much changed squad from the one at Abingdon. Last time out against the Miltonians occurred about a year ago when we travelled to Ox- fordshire for our first ever away game in the Hellenic League and returned with a resound- ing 6-0 win. Milton manager Sam Elkins whose Dad is ex-Wimbledon full-back Gary Elkins has been busy recruiting a very strong squad with many additions with Step 4 experience mainly from his former club Didcot Town where Sam was a fans favorite amongst the Diddy faithful. On Saturday we travel to West Sussex for what is probably our biggest ever game when we visit Chichester City of The Pitching In Isthmian League South East Division. This will be the furthest Rangers have ever ventured in the F.A Cup. We would dearly love to see many of you there and ticket information is below. There are limited spaces available on the coach so if you are interested please speak with Steve Burnett or any other Committee member. Enjoy the game Rob CHICHESTER CITY TICKET INFORMATION Ticket information regarding this Saturday's Emirates F.A Cup Second Qualifying Round tie away at Chichester City have been released. Next at the B.E.P. RAMBLING RANGER Good evening all and welcome to the BEP Stadium for our third Hellenic League Division One East fixture versus Milton United. By all accounts Milton have strengthened a great deal since we last played them and beat Abingdon United handsomely in their opening game of the season. Their resurgence began last season and they were almost certainly heading toward a top four finish when the season was called to an abrupt end. With a raft of experience from players who have played much of their football in the higher steps we can expect some tough competition. With a smaller division this season there is little room for a slip up especially as Wokingham & Emmbrook FC have got off to a flier, winning four from four, so maximum points are a must. Following on from the excitement of our recent cup victories Saturday’s game at Abing- don United’s Northcourt Road fell a bit flat. The important thing however was the three points courtesy of goals from Brian Haule and Marcus Wyllie. A clean sheet too, which will have pleased the manager. The FA Cup win at Cobham was a completely different game with Rangers dominating for most of the match against higher ranked opponents. In truth, the three one score-line flattered the Combined Counties League Premier Divi- sion side. Marcus Wyllie scored two stunning strikes with Asher Yearwood adding the third. The previous Saturday we beat our old rivals Winslow United for the second this season. Having dumped them out of the FA Cup with an injury time winner from Skip- per Joel Read, we made the trip to North Bucks a week later to dispatch them from the FA Vase, this time three nil. After a poor start, we took control in the second half and they never looked like getting back into the game, goals from Marcus Wyllie, Brian Haule and Martin Griggs doing the damage. In the next round of the Vase we travel to United Counties Division One side Raunds Town but before that, after tonight’s game we have the little matter of this Saturday’s FA Cup game away versus Chichester City. They play at step 4 in the football pyramid so it will be a big ask for the lads, but with this bunch you just cannot write them off and I for one am hopeful of a big upset. Last sea- son Chichester reached the first-round proper before succumbing to Tranmere Rovers, so it looks like a cracking game. If you are travelling down to Chichester, make sure to book tickets first. I believe they are only available on-line and they have allocated 100 to us, so get in early if you want to see Rangers make history. Incidentally, we are one of only two clubs in the whole country from Step 6 left in the competition (the other being Saltash United). I have almost completed my short history of Princes Risborough Town and am grateful for all those that have offered information. In particular I would like to thank Alun Thomas who came up to me at our home game versus Winslow. He has emailed some old press cuttings and the tip-off that the club played for a season in the Oxfordshire Senior League plus other useful contacts. When complete I will beg the Programme Edi- tor to allow me to reproduce my notes about the previous tenants of the BEP Stadium in this programme. Anyone that may have further information (I would like to know if they had a club badge and nickname) I can be contacted via the e-mail address: rob- [email protected] Anyway, that’s enough rambling from me. Enjoy the game and see you in the bar after.
