True to my role, although rather contradictory to my natural character, I took a cautious approach and said “no” to the opportunity. The timing just wasn’t right. What I didn’t see coming in that moment, even though constantly revealed to me, was God beginning to move. You see, God had a far greater plan for service and the impact on many lives. Over the next six months, God kept pointing my eyes back to how our ~Message cont’d from pg .1 ministry could benefit children and families in the area This morning, I have the privilege of sharing a and rather quickly a path emerged. One Sunday morning lives. I imagine on the day of creation that God after Yaya had joined our church family here at Calvary, took one small ball of clay and went to but before the pandemic, I wrapped up co-leading working. He added courage and bravery, a huge Children’s Church and chatted in the hallway a little compassionate heart, a passion to help empower longer than usual. As I was leaving the church, I crossed others and after a momentary pause he added the paths with Pastor Tamie and a new twist in our strings gift of seeing, truly seeing other people. God led to my introduction to Yaya. It started with a simple lovingly called him son and knew that he would be question from Pastor Tamie, “Remind me what kind of named Williamson and fondly called Yaya. God took moment and I am so glad that God works out the the string and began weaving a tapestry of details! That morning Pastor Tamie told me that all connections that would link all those that those who get to know Yaya are blessed and influence and lead us down our life paths. These changed. That theme was repeated over again with connections shape and reshape us into who God each call to Yaya’s references. Despite believing what has called us to be. Growing through gratitude…

Thankfulness, studies show, has multiple physical, mental and emotional benefits. Psychologist Robert Emmons calls gratitude “fertilizer for the mind” because of its powerful effects.

He admits gratitude isn’t always easy — especially when life throws us curveballs (see the year 2020) — but says it can be most helpful during and after difficulties. Emmons suggests reframing challenges using thankfulness-based language. Ask, for example: Though I wasn’t grateful for the experience at the time, how can I be now? What lessons did I learn, and how did I grow as a person?

Throughout his letters, the apostle Paul reframes his extensive sufferings and urges us to do the same. “Give thanks in all circumstances,” he writes, “for this is God’s will for you in Christ ” (1 Thessalonians 5:18, NIV). Page 4

~Message cont’d from pg. 3

So as I close today, I want to encourage two things: 1. Watch for the ways God is moving in your life and take a chance so you don’t miss the opportunity He has orchestrated for you. 2. Lead with love – God has given each of us a heart to love so every ball of clay has that gift, please don’t be afraid to cast that love onto others as both of you will be forever changed.

Sharing My Story [Second Message from Sunday, Oct. 18th]

Today I am here to talk to you about my story. A story most of you might already know but might not be aware of the significant impact that it has on my life. Before moving forward, I would like to thank Rev. Pastor Tamie, the congregation, including all members.

As you know, I have been here for almost a year. The purpose of me being here at the Scalise’s place was to find a place to live and start my career as a professional. Even if I did not know where I was going to find work or place to work, I decided to follow my heart. I remember, one day I was in a biblical study with Frank, David, Bob etc.… There was a particular question that was asked and that said: When do you think you experience Jesus? I did not have much to say, but I remember saying that I met Jesus through Tamie. My response might have not made sense, but I know why I said this. I knew being a member of the church was going to impact my entire life, especially my professional career.

It is not a secret that my expectations after my studies at Keystone College was to find work. What if, I tell you now that those expectations are met here at the church, and Bethany Christian Services. To mention

Bethany Christian Services, it is the type of organization with which I began my professional career both as an intern and employee. This something that preoccupied my mind during the whole four years at Keystone College. I want you to understand that. Sometimes people take what they have as opportunity for granted.

Let me tell you, sometimes what you may take for granted is what some people consider the most beautiful, amazing, significant thing that ever happens to their life. I am a living testimony of that.

As I result, I am now working in two different specific programs for Bethany Christian Services: Child Specific Recruitment, and Child Preparation. In the child preparation, Bethany incorporated the equine program in which the horses are used as a therapeutic approach. As Jamie showed in the video, the farm story is significantly important for me as they started it with me. My connection with the church and Bethany is divine. That connection sets me to accomplish a something I promised my community. I am thankful and grateful that this accomplishment is being done through CALVARY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH and Bethany.

My final words would be to ask you to stay connected. “It’s obvious that by yourself you can go faster, but together we can farther.” Let us stay together.

Williamson Jacques (Yaya)
