Wagner, Benjamin Wiesmair, Anna Wolf, Lukas Zangl, Thomas Zechmeister & Oliver Zweidick Abstract: Report on the sixth “insect camp” of the Austrian Entomological So- ciety: invertebrate diversity all around Güssing (Southern Burgenland, Austria) The sixth insect camp of the Austrian Entomological Society took place in the vicinity of Güssing in Southern Burgenland (Austria) from May 16th to May 19th, 2019. In total, 24 participants from Tyrol, Vienna, and Styria attended the field course and were accompanied and supported by 23 specialists for various taxonomic groups during the camp and/or at the postprocessing. During those four days, the participants studied and applied different trapping and preparation approaches, trained deter- mination, gathered knowledge on various groups of arthropods and gastropods and were able to network with taxonomists. Five localities were investigated and in total 788 species were detected: 11 Odonata, 48 Hetero ptera, 60 Auchenorrhyncha, 321 Coleo ptera, 2 Pleco ptera, 1 Meco ptera, 1 Megalo ptera, 47 Di ptera, 90 Hymeno ptera, 10 Tricho ptera, 105 Lepido ptera, 68 Araneae, 5 Opiliones, 6 Pseudoscorpiones, and 16 Gastropoda species. 27 species records are new for Burgenland: 12 Auchenorrhyncha, 3 Coleo ptera, 4 Di ptera, 7 Hymeno ptera and 1 Araneae species. Fotos: E. Huber. Ein Blick zurück zu den frühen Naturforschern o enbart allerdings ein ganz anderes Bild: Güssing war eine Hochburg der Naturkunde. Der weltbekannte Botaniker Carolus Clusius hat hier im 16. Jahrhundert gelebt und gewirkt. In Güssing und auf der Burg Schlaining verfasste er sein bedeutendes Werk „Stirpium Nomenclator Pannonicus“ – es handelt sich hierbei um die erste systematische Erfassung der Flora des Pannonikums mitsamt den ungarischen Gemeinnamen. Clusius´ Arbeiten zur Flora von Österreich und Ungarn sollten über mehr als 100 Jahre maßgebend bleiben. In jüngerer Zeit hat das Güssinger Umland Wissenschafter der Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz angezogen, die enge und langjährige Beziehungen zu diesem Naturraum führten. Der Freilandökologe und engagierte Naturschutzbiologe Univ.-Prof. Dr. Franz Wolkinger war viele Jahre der Präsident der Internationalen Clusius-Forschungsgesellschaft. Dement- sprechend hoch war seine Aktivität im Südburgenland. Weiters hatte der Grazer Zoologe Univ.-Prof. Dr. Otto Kepka in Punitz (Bezirk Güssing) eine Wildtier-Forschungsstation eingerichtet. Der Begeisterung für die organismische Biologie versprühende Professor besuchte und besammelte mit seinen Studenten im Rahmen der Zoologischen Exkur- sionen die Güssinger Fischteiche, den Burgberg, das Stremtal und den Punitzer Wald. Erste Ergebnisse dieser intensiven Exkursions- und Lehrtätigkeit sind im „Naturführer Südburgenland“ publiziert (W & B 1996). Der Grundstein für naturkundliches Forschen und Vermitteln in diesem bemerkenswerten Gebiet war somit gelegt. Im Rahmen des sechsten ÖEG-Insektencamps sollten diese biologischen Tätig- keiten fortgeführt werden und mit angehenden BiologInnen und naturkundlich Interes- sierten zumindest für einige Tage auf den Spuren von Carolus Clusius, Franz Wolkinger und Otto Kepka die Kleintierwelt dieser pannonischen Landschaft erforscht werden. Ziel des ÖEG-Insektencamps ist es, die Artenkenntnis der TeilnehmerInnen zu erwei- tern, Exkursionserfahrung zu sammeln und faunistische Daten zu erheben. Um dies zu erreichen, wurde das Insektencamp dabei von erfahrenen Taxonomen und Ökologen unterstützt, die dabei ihr praktisches und theoretisches Wissen teilten. Während des ÖEG-Insektencamps 2019 konnten 24 TeilnehmerInnen aus Tirol, Wien, Niederöster- reich und der Steiermark ihre entomologischen, arachnologischen oder malakologischen Fähigkeiten in dem Gebiet rund um Güssing erweitern. Innerhalb von vier Tagen (16.–19. Teilnehmerliste und Organisation Die örtliche Unterstützung sowie die Mithilfe bei der Organisation und Probe ächenwahl erfolgte durch Dr. Ernst Breitegger (Naturschutzbund Burgenland). Gebietsbeschreibung Fünf vorausgewählte Flächen wurden bearbeitet, die jeweils noch in weitere Teil ächen untergliedert wurden. Mit dieser Auswahl wurde versucht, eine hohe Vielfalt an Lebens- räumen zu untersuchen, um ein möglichst großes Artenspektrum zu dokumentieren. Sämtliche Koordinatenangaben entsprechen dem WGS84. Naturschutzbundwiese – „Winkelwiese“ (1a–c) Die ca. 7 ha große „Winkelwiese“ be ndet sich in der Gemeinde Urbersdorf und ist im Besitz des Naturschutzbundes Burgenlands. As a third part of a series of papers on the ground-living true bugs of Hungary, the species belonging to the lace bug genus Acalypta Westwood, 1840 (Insecta: Heteroptera: Tingidae) were studied. Extensive materials collected with Berlese funnels during about 20 years all over Hungary were identified. Based on these sporadic data of many years, faunistic notes are given on some Hungarian species. The seasonal occurrence of the species are discussed. The numbers of specimens of different Acalypta species collected in diverse plant communities are compared with multivariate methods. Materials collected with pitfall traps between 1979–1982 at Bugac, Kiskunság National Park were also processed. In this area, only A. marginata and A. gracilis occurred, both in great number. The temporal changes of the populations are discussed. This is the second report to appear in 2003 and follows on from the release of the 2001 version earlier this year. Hopefully we are now on course to return to an annual report, with the 2003 report planned for the middle of next year. Plans for the ‘Atlas of Lepidoptera in VC58’ continue apace. We had hoped to produce a further update to the Atlas but this report is already quite a large document. We will, therefore produce a supplementary report on the Pug Moths recorded in VC58 sometime in early 2004, hopefully in time to be sent out with the next newsletter. As usual, we have produced a combined report covering micro-moths, macro- moths and butterflies, rather than separate reports on all three groups. Doubtless observers will turn first to the group they are most interested in, but please take the time to read the other sections. Hopefully you will find something of interest. The Rhodope lily is a scarce endemic flower of the Western Rhodopes, found on just a handful of sites in Bulgaria and just over the border in Greece, about half of which have no protection. Money raised in 2014 was enough to fund Honeyguide leader Vlado Trifonov, who is recognised as the leading authority on the Rhodope lily, for monitoring and mowing for two years at the location visited by Honeyguiders. That includes this year (2015). That work is likely to continue for some years, but other conservation needs in the future are uncertain.

Oise amber has eight species, Baltic amber has 118 species, and Rovno amber has 16 species. Nine new genera and 18 new species are described from Baltic amber. Four new synonyms are noted: Palaeometrioxena Legalov, 2012, syn. nov. is synonymous with Archimetrioxena Voss, 1953; Paleopissodes weigangae Ulke, 1947, syn. nov. is synonymous with Electrotribus theryi Hustache, 1942; Electrotribus erectosquamata Rheinheimer, 2007, syn. nov. is synonymous with Succinostyphlus mroczkowskii Kuska, 1996; Protonaupactus Zherikhin, 1971, syn. nov. is synonymous with Paonaupactus Voss, 1953. Keys for Eocene amber Curculionoidea are given. There are the first records of Aedemonini and Camarotini, and genera Limalophus and Cenocephalus in Baltic amber. The bionomics of both species are discussed based on European data in addition to new obser- vations of their ecology in Nova Scotia. The role of port cities, such as Halifax, in relation to the introduction of exotic Coleoptera is discussed with examples of other species introduced to North America from this location. The earliest known record of Meligethes viridescens (Fabricius) for North America and the second and third reported locations of Dromius fenestratus Fabricius are also presented.
