Membership is open to anyone who is a resident of the State of Alaska and is interested in the Deltana Fair. Dues are payable each September 1st, or thereafter and expire August 31. The annual general membership meeting is generally held in October. There are three classes of membership: Individual, Business and Lifetime. Individual membership fee is $25 per year and includes one3-day adult pass to the fair and one vote at the general membership meeting. Business membership fee is $50 per year and includes one 3-day adult pass to the fair, one 3-day parking pass during the fair and one vote at the general membership meeting. Lifetime membership is $250 one time per person (not transferable) and includes name on a plaque in the office cabin on the fairgrounds, one 3-day adult pass to the fair, free parking during the fair and one vote at the general membership meeting.

Superintendents & Judges!! 1 Entry and Exhibit Information

Entries are open to all people of the State of Alaska. Every exhibit must be entered in the name of the owner. Items that are not the work of the exhibitor may be entered for display only. Entries are to be delivered to the proper exhibit location. Each exhibit must have an exhibitor tag. Tags may be obtained at the Delta Library or Alaska Farmers Co-op. Having tags completed prior to entry will save time during the entry process. Exhibitor numbers will be assigned at time of entry. Commercial/professional entries should indicate such near the exhibitor number. Exhibitors must include correct Division, Unit, Class, and Lot for each exhibit he/she wishes to enter. An exhibitor may make only one entry per lot except for some livestock divisions. Please write legibly. Return address stickers may be used on tags. It is the exhibitor’s responsibility to meet all deadlines. No exhibitors are exempt from paying the gate fee during Fair weekend. Exhibitors may not move exhibits during the fair or change space assignments. Any non-classified entry will be accepted and the superintendent will create a new lot or class as appropriate. The right to combine lots with less than three entries is left to the discretion of the superintendent as is the right to refuse to accept any entry offered. With the exception of livestock and plants, no entry shall have been previously exhibited at the Deltana Fair.

Age Classifications Preschool: 0-5; Youth: 6-9; Junior: 10-13; Intermediate: 14-18; Adult: 19-64; Senior Citizen: 65 & over. Judging, Prizes & Premiums Judging score cards are available to exhibitors on request. The Fair Association reserves the right to close exhibit areas to public viewing until judging is completed. Judging may begin in any division immediately following close of entries. Exhibits will be judged using the American or Danish systems. All judging decisions are final. Ribbons and cash premiums awards will be: First, blue ribbon and $3; Second, red ribbon and $2; Third, white ribbon and $1; Grand Champion rosette ribbon and $3; Reserve Champion rosette ribbon and $2; People’s Choice, rosette ribbon (Division 8-12 only). These cash premiums will be awarded except where noted. Commercial exhibits will be awarded ribbons, but no cash premiums, and may be judged separately. Exhibit Hall Cash Premiums will be available at the Exhibit Hall Friday after 7 p.m. Livestock Cash Premiums will be available at the Barn following inspection of stalls on Sunday. Should any exhibitor obtain a premium through any false evidence or misrepresentation, or by any violation of any of the rules and regulations herein, the money or premium will be withheld by the superintendent upon ascertaining that such has been the case.

2 Removal of Exhibits No exhibits may be removed from the Fairgrounds before 4 pm on the Sunday of Fair weekend. The Exhibit Halls will be open until 6 pm. Should you not be able to pick up exhibits on Sunday you may call the fair or exhibit manager until the following weekend to make arrangements to pick up exhibits. The Fair Association will not be responsible for exhibits left after that time and exhibits may be destroyed. Any exhibit removed in violation of this rule will forfeit all premiums that may be awarded, and prohibit entry the following year. Superintendents There will be a superintendents’ meeting prior to the fair to coordinate paperwork to insure uniformity. It is the Superintendents’ responsibility to verify the correct completion of exhibit tags before accepting any entry. Superintendents will supervise ribbon placing after judging is completed. Superintendents will enlist help to run their divisions, take entries and arrange displays (all day Tuesday and Thursday), and take down displays as exhibitors pick up their entries Sunday evening. General Rules No smoking is allowed in exhibit areas. No drugs or drug paraphernalia are allowed on the Fairgrounds during the Fair. Beer may be consumed only in areas designated by the Board of Directors. No animals permitted on the Fairgrounds, with the exception of service dogs, animals entered as exhibits, in contests, or in the pet show. Such animals may only be on the fairgrounds one hour prior to and following the event in which they are entered, except for livestock and other animals when approved arrangements have been made with the Fair Manager for keeping of the animals in the livestock/camping area. The Fair Management will use every possible precaution to protect the exhibits and property while on exhibition, but it is understood that the Fair Association shall not be held responsible for loss, damage or injury of any kind from any source whatsoever. Due to conditions beyond our control, the Fair Management, or members will not be responsible for personal injuries, accidents or losses sustained by visitors, exhibitors, or any other person on the Fairgrounds. The Board of Directors reserves the final right to interpret these rules and regulations and arbitrarily settle and determine all matters, questions and differences in regard thereto, or arising out of, connected with or incidental to the Fair, and it reserves the right to rule on any questions not covered in these rules and regulations.

3 Livestock, FFA, and 4-H Divisions 1, 2, 13, and 14 General Information

All livestock entries must follow the general exhibit rules unless specified differently in this section.

4H and FFA Market Livestock must be entered in a showmanship class for each market project they intend to sell.

Selling of market livestock must follow the Tanana District 4-H/FFA Market Livestock agreements.

Mandatory barn meeting 9 am Friday for all exhibitors.

Pen cleaning and feeding will occur 7:30 – 9:30 am and 7:30 – 9 pm.

Livestock Showing/Judging will take place Friday starting at 10 am.

General Livestock Rules & Regulations

Exhibit tag is a combination entry and stall reservation, and must be turned in to the Barn Manager by 5 pm Friday one week prior to the fair. Delivery for livestock is Thursday from 5-9 pm. No stall reservations will be made without a completed exhibit tag. Large livestock exhibitors will show livestock in a show arena. Small livestock exhibitors are encouraged to be available during the showing/judging time to answer judges’ questions. All livestock exhibited at the fair must be free from disease, and in good health and good condition. Diseased or unsightly animals may be barred from entry after a ruling by a qualified veterinarian or a division superintendent. An exhibitor may make more than one entry per lot in Divisions 13 and 14. An animal may be entered in more than one lot within a class for all classes of livestock in Division 13 and for classes of horses, beef, dairy, sheep, rabbits and goats in Division 1. Stalls must have a poster identifying animal, breed, and owner at a minimum. If it is a Market animal, there also must be a place to identify the buyer. Blue ribbon winners in Livestock Divisions 1, 13 and 14 will automatically be entered in the Championship class in their respective divisions. Failure to clean stalls and cages will result in denial of entry of exhibits for the following year. All animals holding stall space reservations must remain on exhibit and cannot be removed from the Fairgrounds before 4 pm on Sunday of Fair weekend without permission from the division superintendent. Each exhibitor shall furnish necessary feed and bedding for their livestock and arrange for the care of the animals. A specific area for livestock will be designated by the division superintendent. All livestock exhibitors and/or owners or riders will use this specific area (and no other) for exhibit, show, judging, exercise, moving, transport, feeding, watering, grooming, or any other purpose. Livestock will not be allowed outside this area. Failure to comply with this rule will result in forfeiture of any premiums awarded or expulsion from the Fairgrounds or both.

4 : Livestock Exhibitor Information

All vehicle entries into the Fairgrounds for purpose of feeding or caring for livestock will be made only through a designated gate where a parking area will be provided. One vehicle pass and one fair pass will be given to all livestock exhibitors. Vehicle traffic is restricted to livestock area during daily Fair hours.

Giving rides for hire without permission of Fair Board strictly prohibited. Any exhibitor violating this rule will forfeit any premiums awarded and may be barred from the Fairgrounds. 4-H and FFA exhibitors spending the night at the livestock barn must be supervised by club leaders, parent/guardian etc. Exhibitors willing to volunteer as night guards in the livestock barn should call the Fair Office or division superintendent.

FFA Rules & Regulations 1. FFA entries are subject to general rules and regulations. 2. Add the letter ‘C’ to the exhibit tag as the unit number.

4-H Rules & Regulations 1. 4-H entries are also subject to general rules. 2. Only current 4-H projects are eligible. 4-H exhibitors must have been enrolled in their project by June 1, with the exception of camp and short course projects. Horse projects may enter records or livestock skills only. No horses will be accepted. 3. Entries which do not meet the requirements listed in the premium book will be disqualified. It is the exhibitor’s responsibility to be sure all entries are prepared properly and are neat and clean. 4. In lots where more than one item is required, exhibits must be displayed on paper plates or mounted. Be sure to check the open class requirements for the correct number to display. 5. To qualify for a Division Grand Champion or Division Reserve Grand Champion, a record book must accompany exhibit. Exhibitors may enter six items per project. Members are advised to keep a copy of the records in case of loss. 6. Interview judging is required for each project. Arrangements for release from interview judging must be made at time of entry. Interview judging will be conducted for perishables and non-perishables on Thursday of Fair week, 9 am - noon; animals on Thursday before the Fair in the afternoon. 7. All livestock projects are required to enter showmanship and herdsmanship classes. Records must accompany the animals. Members are advised to keep a copy of the record, and to cover educational displays with clear plastic to keep them clean. 8.
