Most of the area of district Attock is “Barani”. Railway line and roads link different cities of the district. The Indus River is the boundary line between KPK Province and Punjab. Haripur district is situated in the north of Attock district while Swabi is in the north-west, Kohat and Nowshera in the west, Mianwali in the south, Chakwal in the south-east and Rawalpindi in the east. Majority of the population resides in the rural areas having severe accessibility issues since it is very difficult to reach there due to non-availability of transport. There is a mountain range of “Kala Chitta” in the south-west of the district which is a natural shelter to the criminals.
