One of these motifs is winged angel. This sacred and divine creature which appears in human-shaped, serves intermediaries between the God and people, and during history, indicates legitimating and bestows God-given glory. This article aims to present the results of exploring the historical background of the winged angels in Iran, in order to understand its precise concept; where it comes from and what it resembles. -

On the Good Faith
On the Good Faith Zoroastrianism is ascribed to the teachings of the legendary prophet Zarathustra and originated in ancient times. It was developed within the area populated by the Iranian peoples, and following the Arab conquest, it formed into a diaspora. In modern Russia it has evolved since the end of the Soviet era. It has become an attractive object of cultural produc- tion due to its association with Oriental philosophies and religions and its rearticulation since the modern era in Europe. The lasting appeal of Zoroastrianism evidenced by centuries of book pub- lishing in Russia was enlivened in the 1990s. A new, religious, and even occult dimension was introduced with the appearance of neo-Zoroastrian groups with their own publications and online websites (dedicated to Zoroastrianism). This study focuses on the intersectional relationships and topical analysis of different Zoroastrian themes in modern Russia. Two eras covered are here in two parts; the Achaemenid and Sassanian Empires, the first and last of the Pre-Islamic Persian dynasties. This ancestry begins with a connection of the Persian kings to the Greek mythology according to Plato. I have included these kind of connections between myth and history, the reader may decide if and where such a connection really takes place. The second begins with King Ardashir I, the 59th great grandfather, reigned during 226-241 and ens with the last one, King Yazdagird III, the 43rd great grandfather, reigned during 632 – 651. He married Maria, a Byzantine Princess, which ties into our Byzantine Ancestry. -

Miceli** Abstract: Throughout history, religious and political authorities have had a mysterious attraction to each other. Rulers have established state religions and adopted laws with religious origins, sometimes even claiming to have divine powers. We propose a political economy approach to theocracy, centered on the legitimizing relationship between religious and political authorities. Making standard assumptions about the motivations of these authorities, we identify the factors favoring the emergence of theocracy, such as the organization of the religion market, monotheism vs. polytheism, and strength of the ruler. We use two sets of data to test the implications of the model. We first use a unique data set that includes information on over three hundred polities that have been observed throughout history. We also use recently available cross-country data on the relationship between religious and political authorities to examine these issues in current societies. The results provide strong empirical support for our arguments about why in some states religious and political authorities have maintained independence, while in others they have integrated into a single entity. Ali Mojabi Department of Textile and Apparel Design, Najafabad Branch, Islamic Azad University, Najafabad, Iran Most researchers and scholars inside Iran consider Qajar dynasty art (1789–1925) in line with the Safavid (1501–1736) and Zand (1750–1794) dynasties. Assuming the Safavid period as the starting point in the Farangi Sazi tradition (a term used for some art schools in Iran which are influenced by European art), and assuming the art in the Afsharid (1736– 1796) and Zand dynasties as more impressionable disciples of the tradition, then it can be asserted that Qajar dynasty art pursued the same tradition with minor changes and varia- tions through the offspring and grandchildren of those same artists. -

The Church of the East played an important role in the stability of Christianity in the Middle East during the rise of Islam, specifically regarding the Islamic conquests of Sassanid Persia in the seventh century CE. In order to reach this point, this thesis explores the monotheistic traditions in ancient Syria and Persia, beginning with Judaism and pagan cultic practices, followed by the rise of Jesus of Nazareth. It then covers the emergence of unique theological differences between Christians practicing in the East, and the Roman Chalcedonian Church. In doing so, the misconceptions of the Church of the East, frequently referred to inaccurately as the ‘Nestorians,’ are debunked. Following this, political conflicts between the Roman Byzantine Empire and the Persian Sassanid Empire are argued to have forced theological decisions to be made by Eastern Christians in order to avoid persecution. By the Islamic conquests in the seventh century, the Church of the East was stable enough to survive a total political takeover. -
