8 Tennis Tennis, here we come!

After a long wait and much consideration, we have finally come up with the best plan for 2020 summer programming on the courts. The safety and well-being of all players and staff members remains the first and foremost consideration of the GLCC, GLHS & USTA. We feel that we are reducing the risks as best we can wile still providing a comprehensive tennis program this summer. That said, we ask that players act responsibly by bringing their own equipment (besides balls, of course), as well as water bottles, and also abide by the overarching social distancing rules put out by our state. This in- cludes waiting in cars for drop-off and pick-up. It is our mission to organize and manage players and equipment in the saf- est possible way while in our control. Please also note that alcohol is forbidden on high school grounds and a restroom will be accessible to players and properly cleaned each day. 21 Swimming Lessons Swim lessons are a fun and worthwhile activity that will teach children the skills they will need to be safe in and around the water. In swim lessons, we will teach and perfect the knowledge of each stroke and safety skills so each child will know what to do while they are on and around the water. We will take one lesson to be specifically on boating and other safety skills. Each lesson will run for 35 minutes, Monday through Thursday for two weeks (Fridays will be a make-up day in case of bad weather). You may also choose from one of our other options to either do lessons on a day-to-day basis or you can do private lessons if either of those are more convenient for your schedule. Times are determined by what levels are in need for each session. Please know that your children can spend the day at Kids Camp and the counselors will make sure your child makes it to their lesson. Swim classes will begin Monday, June 19th and are available to children of all ages!

Learn-to-Swim Levels: Minnows (Level 1) - Introduction to Water Skills This level is designed to make swimmers feel comfortable without their parents. Star Fish (Level 3) - Stroke Development In this level, swimmers will perfect the strokes that they learned in level 2. They will also be introduced to breast stroke and sidestroke. Students should be able to perform the strokes that they learned in level 2 by themselves, but we will work on making them stronger and more efficient. Sting Ray (Level 4) - Stroke Improvement In level 4, swimmers will begin to learn the technique along with perfecting all the other strokes. Swimmers will also begin to start learning other skills, such as dives and treading water.
