Times are determined by what levels are in need for each session. Your children can spend the day at Kids Camp and the counselors will make sure your child makes it to their lesson. Swim classes will begin Monday, June 19th and are available to children of all ages! To register, contact our Beachfront Director, Chris! Learn to Swim Levels: (Level 1) - Introduction to Water Skills- We will be learning a lot of fundamentals in this level such as how you use your arms and kick your legs correctly. (Level 2) - Fundamental Aquatic Skills- Within this level, the swimmers will be learning to swim alone on their stomachs, swimming front crawl, backstroke and elementary backstroke, and breast stroke kick. Children should already have grasped the basic concept of how to swim by this level but aren’t strong enough yet to swim without a life jacket. (Level 3) - Stroke Development- In this level, swimmers will perfect the strokes that they learned in level 2. They will also be introduced to breast stroke and sidestroke. Students should be able to perform the strokes that they learned in level 2 by themselves. (Level 4) - Stroke Improvement– Swimmers will begin to learn the butterfly technique along with perfect- ing all the other strokes. Swimmers will also begin to start learning other skills, such as dives and treading water. (Level 5) - Stroke Refinement- The objective of this level is for students to be coordinated in all of the key strokes. They will also perfect their dives and begin to learn flip turns. (Level 6) - Swimming and Skill Proficiency- The goal in this level is to make students comfortable enough with their strokes so that they can effectively swim 50 yards by themselves of each stroke. They will learn how to make their strokes faster and stronger. • SKEETA – Float Like a Butterfly Sting Like a Bee
SKEETA – Float like a Butterfly sting like a Bee Dynamic development of a new market Foiling dinghies have become well established in the last 15 years, since the advent of flying Moth. The foiling catamarans in the America's Cup provided additional impetus from 2013 onwards. Foiling - this unique sailing experience was previously reserved for only a few, mostly pro-sailors. Sailing skills, technical and financial requirements were high - usually too high. This situation is currently changing. Significantly and faster than generally assumed. Scow-Shape rediscovered Today the Scow shape is experiencing an unexpected comeback, not only in small boats. The hull of the SKEETA is based on the proven Australian Moth class Scow shapes. It has been optimised step by step to meet the requirements for foiling. No snapshot The SKEETA is the latest foiling dinghy of the 3rd generation, designed, built, tested and made ready for production by an Australian duo that has been designing Moths with or without foils for many years. An exchange of ideas and opinions with QUANTBOATS took place during the last years. Quite a few wishes and requirements on the part of QUANTBOATS could be taken into account. SKEETA fits perfectly with our philosophy today. Fun throughout the entire wind range Like all our boats, the SKEETA is characterized by good-natured behaviour and excellent all-round characteristics. There is no need to forego performance - on the contrary. This includes perfect foiling behaviour in the lower to medium wind range as well as comfortable, controlled and fast sailing in very light or very strong winds.

  • The Quest for Donald Duck … a Lake of the Woods Wayfarer Cruise
The quest for Donald Duck … a Lake of the Woods Wayfarer Cruise I came back from the Wayfarer Rally at Killbear on Georgian Bay with increased determination to do some more local cruising. The other Thunder Bay Wayfarer owner and my regular racing crew Andy Ivancic and I had previously talked about sailing the Rossport Islands area east of Thunder Bay but as he was already on holidays in Kenora at the in-laws cottage, heading west seemed the logical thing to do. Lake of the Woods it would be. The boat was still in travelling mode after the return from southern Ontario so a bit more bearing grease and a mere 5hrs later, W9657 was at waters edge in a marina in Pine Portage Bay on the north-east corner of Lake of the Woods. The view of the lake from the highway through Kenora gives little impression of what lies beyond… Lake of the Woods is huge- about 60km by 105km in size, with 105,000 km of shoreline and a barely countable 14,542 islands. The northern portion is sculpted out of the volcanic and granitic rocks of the Canadian Shield and forms a maze of channels, rocky islands, peninsulas, and bays. The very different south borders on Minnesota and is shallow with sandy shores and extremely wide open. With a long history of aboriginal inhabitants, an early travel route west to the prairies, and turn of the century lumbering and gold mining the area also has an interesting past behind its recreational usage of today. No question the northern part appeared ideal for Wayfarer cruising and would provide multiple options for routes with the numerous islands and peninsulas helping to limit wave build-up, and offer lots of exploration potential.

  • Portsmouth Number List 2016
Portsmouth Number List 2016 The RYA Portsmouth Yardstick Scheme is provided to enable clubs to allow boats of different classes to race against each other fairly. The RYA actively encourages clubs to adjust handicaps where classes are either under or over performing compared to the number being used. The Portsmouth Yardstick list combines the Portsmouth numbers with class configuration and the total number of races returned to the RYA in the annual return. This additional data has been provided to help clubs achieve the stated aims of the Portsmouth Yardstick system and make adjustments to Portsmouth Numbers where necessary. Clubs using the PN list should be aware that the list is based on the typical performance of each boat across a variety of clubs and locations. Experimental numbers are based on fewer returns and are to be used as a guide for clubs to allocate as a starting number before reviewing and adjusting where necessary. The list of experimental Portsmouth Numbers will be periodically reviewed by the RYA and is based on data received from the PY Online website (www.pys.org.uk). Users of the PY scheme are reminded that all Portsmouth Numbers published by the RYA should be regarded as a guide only. The RYA list is not definitive and clubs should adjust where necessary.
