Recide is the ones that have followed so far: Duration, ghostly environments of dream pop godsons and songs of love and love. His best moments. The Drag is one of her most pop and round songs so far, Rachel zeffira's vocal performance in 'Everything Moves Towards The Sun', one of the most beautiful songs she has recorded; and 'A' comes to remember how well the Sinatra/Hazlewood d'os work for them. Some things that baffle and disappoint. 'A' is very Beatles, The same as too much 'A' is the word 'Teardrops' (up to 'Falling' is the word 'Falling'). The filter was also quoted by artists , famously recipe of influences, . When your band's first concert ever happens in the Basilica of St. Peter of the Vatican, managed to convince the security of your Catholic choir credentials by performing a psalm-like performance of your song accompanied by the majestic organ of the church, the chances are high that it will inform the narrative throughout your musical career. That this will push you to raise the bar a little more for each subsequent release. And so, faithfully shaped, after another round of calls and a new disguise as a Renaissance ensemble, Cat's Eyes managed to gatecrash Buckingham Palace to play a rebuilt new song from its third album with period instruments - without the official consent of the royal house, but with great recognition of the guests of the queen. These are two occasions, then, on which Rachel Seffira and Faris Badwan, as well as showcasing their musical talent, shaping their repertoire in the form of an unusual performance space, have also proven themselves great crooks. This is not a mistake that might seem like Treasure House Cat's Eyes as the third album: according to the duo, the score they composed in 2015 for Peter Strickland Duke Of Burgundy, by all means is an equal element of the band's discography, its impact is palpably present in this new work. After the first recording, mostly inspired by Badwan's passion for the girls of the sixties and the orchestral soundtrack, approaching his own conservatories, they find impressive at Treasure House classical, symphonic music merges with garage and post-punk, giving credence to the cliches that opposites attract, outstanding in their complex sounds and arrangements. From the shift there is a cinematic atmosphere, having ambienced 11 songs that together form the architectural drawings of the House of Treasures. The sparse opening of the title track, a soft, mundane song that immediately shows how Badwan's voice is now far from the low, deep muttering of their previous production, paves the way for what seems to be running as two major track recordings: Drag and Chameleon the queen. First, it's the perfect pop song, led by the soft voice of Seffira over piano and strings, with a kind of vintage sense of Bond theme; The last majestic melody, where the psychedelic mood of an iron butterfly meets the romantic later inspiration of the Renaissance Nino Rota, meets the classic baroque decorations of Bach. Standoff, with its beating bass, filtered voice, and saxophone to reformulate the scene, captured now through the lens of the New Wave. This is a brief change, and one is almost immediately turned off by a thin vibraphone and the forest all moves towards the Sun; and again with dream-pop names on the mountain and his colleague Teardrops, closing the album and disappearing in the air. The Girl in the Room flies back in time with its Hollywood score, while the organ and chorus of We'll Be Waiting visit Morricone's soundtrack to Mission. With that in mind, it's almost jarring as Be careful where you park your car, the solid, open garage, Nancy Sinatra-style song, is the least compelling piece of music on the album: a step back into old-eyed cat paths that now sound only a little juvenile by comparison. On their second album proper - if you discount their Ivor soundtrack to Peter Strickland Strickland The Duke of Burgundy - their sound has expanded, taking in widescreen compositions full of Disney romanticism (Treasure House), Ennio Morricone-inspired soundcsapes (The Girl in the Room), a spooky neo-noir atmosphere (everything moves to the sun) and a moment of reverberation of the soaked surf rock guitar that will make Tarantino giddy (Be careful where you park your car). What is most intriguing is their connection; especially during Drag's sinister love affair - what we do when we're together, if they only knew they would keep us apart - a jarring narrative that's more horrific than gooey romcom. While hyper-accelerated technology, an increasingly limitless consumption of art that denies subcultures and in the context of EDM-dominated pop music scenes, it's no surprise that there are some who instead look to the past for inspiration. Cat's Eyes - aka Rachel Seffira and Faris Badwan - are groups that seem to happily wear their bygone inclinations on their leather sleeves and in doing so, have got a quietly dedicated following. Treasure marks the third record, although technically only their second full length- from the duo after their easily divine soundtrack to last year's arthouse S'M drama The Duke of Burgundy, and it's time to see if the spark remains. The first single of the Chameleon queen is a fitting taster for recording, an organ-laden ballad with an obsessive operatic soprano (courtesy of Seffir) whose sumptuous beauty belies his main message - a cruel, repeated rebuff of a former lover, I don't care if you want me back... I don't care about you anymore.

Director Kornél Mundruczó (White God, winner of the Prix Un Certain Regard Award, 2014) and partner/screenwriter Kata Wéber craft a deeply personal meditation and ultimately transcendent story of a woman learning to live alongside her loss. SYNOPSIS Martha and Sean Carson (Vanessa Kirby, Shia LaBeouf) are a Boston couple on the verge of parenthood whose lives change irrevocably during a home birth at the hands of a flustered midwife (Molly Parker), who faces charges of criminal negligence. Thus begins a year-long odyssey for Martha, who must navigate her grief while working through fractious relationships with her husband and her domineering mother (Ellen Burstyn), along with the publicly vilified midwife whom she must face in court. From director Kornél Mundruczó (White God, winner of the Prix Un Certain Regard Award, 2014), with artistic support from executive producer Martin Scorsese, and written by Kata Wéber, Mundruczó’s partner, comes a deeply personal, searing domestic aria in exquisite shades of grey and an ultimately transcendent story of a woman learning to live alongside her loss.

  • American Punk: the Relations Between Punk Rock, Hardcore, and American Culture
American Punk: The Relations between Punk Rock, Hardcore, and American Culture Gerfried Ambrosch ABSTRACT Punk culture has its roots on both sides of the Atlantic. Despite continuous cross-fertiliza- tion, the British and the American punk traditions exhibit distinct features. There are notable aesthetic and lyrical differences, for instance. The causes for these dissimilarities stem from the different cultural, social, and economic preconditions that gave rise to punk in these places in the mid-1970s. In the U. K., punk was mainly a movement of frustrated working-class youths who occupied London’s high-rise blocks and whose families’ livelihoods were threatened by a declin- ing economy and rising unemployment. Conversely, in America, punk emerged as a middle-class phenomenon and a reaction to feelings of social and cultural alienation in the context of suburban life. Even city slickers such as the Ramones, New York’s counterpart to London’s Sex Pistols and the United States’ first ‘official’ well-known punk rock group, made reference to the mythology of suburbia (not just as a place but as a state of mind, and an ideal, as well), advancing a subver- sive critique of American culture as a whole. Engaging critically with mainstream U.S. culture, American punk’s constitutive other, punk developed an alternative sense of Americanness. Since the mid-1970s, punk has produced a plethora of bands and sub-scenes all around the world. This phenomenon began almost simultaneously on both sides of the Atlantic—in London and in New York, to be precise—and has since spread to the most remote corners of the world.

  • Uk Versus Usa at the Shockwaves Nme Awards 2007
STRICTLY EMBARGOED UNTIL 8PM MONDAY 29 TH JANUARY Insert logo UK VERSUS USA AT THE SHOCKWAVES NME AWARDS 2007 Expect blood, sweat and tears as we prepare for what will undoubtedly be one big dirty rock’n’roll battle of the bands – and of the nations – at the Shockwaves NME Awards 2007 . The best of British – Arctic Monkeys , Muse and Kasabian – will take on stateside success stories My Chemical Romance and The Killers on March 1 at Hammersmith Palais. Let battle commence! This year, there’s no one clear leader but FIVE bands that dominate the nominations list. With four nominations each, Arctic Monkeys, Muse, Kasabian, The Killers and My Chemical Romance have been chosen by the fans to fight it out on the night. For the past two years, it’s been British bands sweeping the board, but this year The Killers and My Chemical Romance may very well make the 2007 ceremony a stateside success story. Arctic Monkeys made NME Awards history last year by scooping the Award for both Best New Band and Best British Band in the same year, in addition to winning Best Track and scoring a nomination for Best Live Band . Sheffield’s favourites have matched their achievement, with four nominations this year for Best British Band, Best Live Band, Best Album and Best Music DVD. Arctic Monkeys said: “Very nice, we didn’t think we would get any this year! It seems weird for us to be alongside them [the competition] because we still feel like a little band. When it’s your own thing you don’t really see yourself alongside The Killers and Kasabian.” The Monkeys have more than one tough fight on their hands if they want to claim the Best British Band title for the second year running, though.

So geht wahre Coolness.
